Sorry to say this @MaxthonJeff, but from what you've said in the video, it seems you are not trying to develop the best browser for people anymore, you are simply making this a playground for crypto schemes. I've spend 30522 hours using Maxthon (that's almost 3.5years of real time) over the past few years. Started using it since the era of MyIE2 actually. But in the past years the development cycle of MX has slowed down to almost a full stop. Simple bugs persist tens of version and most requested features and functionalities are ignored. There is no innovation, no interest in upping the security, compatibility or speed of the browser anymore and now, by introducing even more unneeded gadgets, tools, wallets and protocols to MX6 coupled with using "heavily customized core" you are again sinking into the depths of unamageable dependencies, that will only slow down the browser and annoy the users. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE maxthon. As i've said above, i've been loyal to maxthon for well over a decade now. But you are simply ignoring what people want from you and that is costing you your users that are migrating over to Vivaldi, Brave and other similar browsers that actually care about opinions of their users and let them shape the browsers. You are a visionary, nobody can take that from you. But perhaps you should think about your users in the first place and create a product they want to use. And then, only then, make the bloatware something that can be added by plugins and not as a main feature. That's my five cents to the topic.

with respect - do you really think the majority of people looking to choose a browser are interested in the above - they will not have a clue what you are talking about - i include myself in that - thats why the interest here is minimal - each new release gets downloaded a few time - nothing in real terms - the telegraph site/link you give has a couple of hundred contributors - where are the 700 million Jeff tells us are using Maxthon - gone i suggest you are developing a niche browser - it will have its core but that core will be minimal imo - and statements like Maxthon will provide better services and make the world a better place. have you really thought about that with the world as it is today - Maxthon is seen as a Chinese Browser - thats beyond comment

Where is the option to completely remove Vbox? Are you kidding?
  4. 5 points
    HOW TO COMPLETELY REMOVE Vbox????
  5. 5 points
when do you intend to update the core - the one used is many months behind todays release - changes in the core can affect the overall browser so whilst you are busy adding features and fixing bugs a new core could affect much of that

As for me, I still want to retain the Features: Sidebar Status Bar (Especially System Info for Up & Down Speeds) Night Mode (Possibly Improve) Developer Tools Resource Sniffer (Especially! Barely used but helps BIG time) Snap (Frequently used. Useful at all times). Lastly... Gmail Notifier Extension (Not sure if Chrome has a similar/better alternative but this is very useful to me) I'd probably still stick to Maxthon as my all around browser no matter the changes. It carries most of my browsing data and I feel more secured with Passkeeper than Chrome's. One concern would be LivesOne & LivesToken. As Mx6 will support BSV, LivesOne will probably be left out. Hope the feature is still the same, Reward for Browsing, but please, no eating away CPU usage. Browsers already consume a large amount of RAM. Don't make it harder.

Dear Maxthon users, You may already know that we are developing next major update of Maxthon browser, Maxthon 6. Here I want to share something information about it, including its value proposition, and how we will develop it. Value proposition: For existing Maxthon users, Mx6 will keep all Maxthon5 data and implement most useful features from mx5, and providing much better website compatibility, full chrome addon support, useful chrome features. For all users, Mx6 will be the world first Bitcoin powered browser, enabling users to explore and participate the next generation of internet - Metanet. More information about metanet can be found at bitcoinsv.com . Develop: The main browser features of mx6 will be developed based on a deeply customized chromium code base and existing mx5 codebase. All bitcoin related features will be developed by Maxthon team. Mx6 also has an open API to enable other developers to integrate their code. At Maxthon, we want to design the application of the future. Starting from 2003, Maxthon has been in the frontline of web innovations, today, seeing a new web is hatching from bitcoin(blockchain), we want to invite all Maxthon users to join this extraordinary movement. We can discuss all related information in this thread. We can discuss bitcoin here as well, but to learn more about bitcoin and metanet, the best place is bitcoinsv.com Jeff

"I created maxthon to please myself in the first place"... now you made me sad. With a single superficial sentence you wrote off all the years I've promoted maxthon left and right to a simple "I don't care about the users, all I care about is myself". You had chance here to say something that would bring the community together, instead you did this. You know, I've defended Maxthon when it didn't work properly in MX3, I've defended Maxthon when it cheated in html5 test and I've spent countless hours arguing with Niels Leenheer about whether it's fair to simply remove maxthon from all the test results, I've defended Maxthon all the way until now when it came to every tough decision, every misstep when there were Nitro tryouts and unfunctional mobile browser versions, I did it all because of loyality and belief that Maxthon was different because you guys cared. But I guess I was wrong. And to mention the embracing of new technology and new ideas. Maxthon didn't innovate or bring new technology in years unfortunately. It became stale and outdated, so if embracing innovation is your goal, you have unfortunately failed. I wish you good luck with pleasing yourself, because you have lost me.

Hahaha... they are not mocking us man.. haha.. it just takes time.. i for one have patience.. i have learned this through out time.. i know i need more patience cause sometimes i flip at people.. for example when they tell me why am i not fixing their car better or get an item faster from another country and then i want to tell them "if you want something done fast, do it yourself" or and "why dont you do it yourself then" but then i calm down and explain it to them cause they are not people that think for others... i learn how to put myself in another their shoes so i dont have to embarrass myself with a low IQ question like "why is the import taking so long" and then get the answer well? with this covid-19 nonsense all businesses/work related occupations are delayed by at least 3-8 weeks tops and it might be even longer which is horrible... but it makes you look as if you yourself couldnt figure that out... be patient they will fix us up real good.. believe me they will.. as long as they keep updating it? it will get better and better over time.. for now? we have this.. lets wait for the updates.. im sure they not just playing playstation all day and shooting dope into their veins and dont eat, sleep, drink... they probably have families just like you..

I too remain very confused. You've set out why you've chosen BSV over the other blockchain protocols, and that seems to make sense. But you haven't answered the much more important starter question: what has a browser got to do with ANY kind of blockchain? Why do I want it? What benefit does it offer me? And how can a web browser be "built on" what I thought was a system of digital currencies?
  13. 3 points
I just want to agree with @Tony (if I understood you well). I just need a stable, flexible, customized, contemporary browser with many features and extensions. I don't interested in any blockchain etc technology. I used Mx from MyIE times due to flexibility, customizing and lightweight. "Maxthon is a state-of-the-art, multi-platform web browser". That's all. If you want to build a platform for mining, blockchaining, etc you should name it smth else. Everything but the browsing should be optional.

OMG.... It's a MIRACLE! 1. Will I finally be able to come back to Maxthon, after stopping usage of Maxthon after "Maxthon Classic" due to the program becoming fat/slow/bloated, and losing good plugin support? This all caused me to stop using Maxthon and start using "360Chrome" instead which provided most of the features I needed in a Browser, i.e. much like Maxthon and nothing else out there, but also had Chrome plugin support. 2. The moment I saw the result of the new Maxthon I knew you guys needed to switch to Chromium instead due to the above reasons, but sadly it took you YEARS to do so, and I haven't been using Maxthon since Maxthon Classic. So, I'm very happy to see the change. I've been wanting my Maxthon back, 360Chrome was obviously missing a couple of things I liked with Maxthon. 3. Wth is with the "Bitcoin" gimmick? Guess I'll have to read through the thread to see, but honestly, this just seems dorky. Personally, I think you should just focus on making a BETTER Microsoft Chromium, stand above the rest like Maxthon/MyIE2 used to. Though, I'm okay with not being a shell anymore like they were, as long as we don't have the bloated crap of the recent Maxthon, as well the crashing crap of Googles Chrome, etc. 4. Microsoft Chrome Edge if they actually listen to me (unlike the ****'s of Google Chrome), implementing the missing features of Maxthon and 360Chrome, are you worried Maxthon will die? Is this part why the change, cause you've finally realized you've lost a lot of people, and seeing how the market's going? Of course, that's assuming the jerkwads will listen, but I suspect they won't like Google didn't, and the fact that Microsoft won't listen to people in relation to how we want Windows Updates to work, doing what THEY want instead. Anyway, looking REALLY forward to this.... I hope Maxthon can be my LOVE again like it used to be before the last several years crapshow. Thanks much...

Mobile version will be updated later. But don’t expect it comes with a lot of features because we don’t want it to be bloated. It may have some addons like ability, not finalized yet. Chrome store rule will not affect Maxthon features. We are considering to provide an additional store if we have resources to manage it.

And what about the mobile version of Maxton? Will there be new features for it? It would be good to have a sniffer, page translation and better night mode.

Don't worry, in a month or so, they release version 5.3.8.2xxx Beta, to fix this stable version As for version 6, in my humble opinion (I hope I'm wrong, seriously), I don't think it's going to be built, it's hard enough for them to get versions and fixes of these last ones, as to dedicate time to start a new project. What's more, the big support has always come from this community, where is it?, then in better places, obviously

Dear Staff, 1. BUG (possible) - If MX6 is closed without opening the pages in the Last session page(mx://last-visit/), on next opening of the MX6, the Last session page is not available anymore. This is not the case in MX5. 2. Suggestion for Implementation - Status bar (Very useful for traffic monitoring and the rest...) 3. Suggestion for Implementation - Resource Grabber
  23. 2 points
'Last session' in MX5 was great. 'Last session' in MX6 is presented as open browser pages I often have more than 10 links in 'Last session' on MX5, not very use having that many open windows, as in MX6. Think I'll stick with MX5

Please make it possible to display icons in quick launch in the form of screenshots of sites, as in version MX5. And also make it possible to change the quick launch grid. So that it could be done on 6 columns, and 8, or 10 for example. Thank!

HOW TO COMPLETELY REMOVE VBOX AND BSV MODULE? Deleting bsv.7z, vbox.7z, welcome.7z, files and folder "block" from webui folder does not help. It was promised that users could remove the blockchain module they did not need. Was that a lie?
  27. 2 points
I think most users of Maxthon who have benefited from it going back many years are fully appreciative -- BUT, the fact remains that Vivaldi, Opera and others have developed through numerous stages and still have a usable downloadable product, without leaving users of the old version in the dust. That is what has happened with Max 6. If too much time goes by without some usable Max 6 version, I don't see why anyone would be sticking around...
  28. 2 points
I reiterate the same as the other comments, I don't know what the hell are you talking about on the BSV topic. What I want is a browser, nothing more

Can you implement a tool to transfer the passwd from mx5 to mx6 locally WITHOUT having to have a maxthon account or anything to do with synchronizing? Also another tool to transfer the QA from mx5 to mx6, in local nothing to synchronize?

Use a Chrome extension such as Flash control. There are several that work. Flash will be discontinued in chrome from the end of 2020 anyway.

    1. Snap Screen you can't "edit" the Page. So, you can "save" a copy of the page, but you can't edit it. ALL of the major screenshot extensions can do this. Further, there is a bug in snap screen. My testing it it only properly saved half the page on the one page I tried, the last half of the page was missing it's images. Now, it's possible I wasn't on the page long enough, or maybe it's something how the page loads images, etc. But, other Screenshot tools will "scroll" the page before you save and/or edit it and then saving it. 2. I do get the benefits of having some key tools in Maxthon whether it's privacy, stability, etc. I just think we should be making sure is an extension isn't added unless it's at least better than pretty much ALL similar extensions. One thing I had forgotten is that one good thing about having some extensions in the browser, is that like with Snap Screen, it allows you to save to MaxNote. So, that's certainly a benefit. But, it's really flawed to me, because I primarily save "pages", thus not being able to "edit" a saved page is a BIG missing feature for me. 1. You're likely right, and I'm not discounting that as a benefit, but it's missing a big feature, and that is being able to edit the snapped page. And like I mentioned above, I had forgotten the ability to save to MaxNote, that's a good thing. 2. I don't disagree that there should be integrated features, I'm all for it. Again, I'm just stating that for big features like a snapping tool, it needs to be at least as good as the big ones. 3. For me, the big things old Maxthon/MIE2 used to give me other than easy to make extensions, was Drag & Drop, Middle Tab Bar, & controlling how Tabs Open. So, for me, those are the biggest things that differentiate Maxthon from any other browser. Sure, in the old days having integrate extensions was valuable, but once we got Chrome store, that became not as necessary. However, again, I do see the necessity in certain ways and things I've already mentioned. Btw, I've had to use 360Chrome to get my old Classic Maxthon/MyIE2 full features (though it didn't have MaxNote), which allowed me to use Chrome Extensions. So, I'm glad Maxthon is using Chromium now, they just need to add my 3 MUST features I listed above, and I'm golden. I'm of course happy to have other key common extensions Maxthon has always had, just wanting them to be the best, not missing key features Chrome Store ones have. I agree, I hate Chrome... I just want my old Maxthon back, before it became standalone, bloated, and lost good extension support. So, I'm really happy they've went to Chromium, so I want ALL the features of old Maxthon, which 360Chrome has had as a replacement, but with the couple it didn't have, Maxthon specific I'm looking forward to getting back.

so a few questions 1 - the themes/skins are just different colours - good for those who are happy with that but what about full UI changes as was possible in all earlier version 2 - when are we going to see things that are standard in all other browsers - bookmarks sidebar - status bar to name just 2 3 - when will the core be updated - its months behind current releases - i thought one of the main reasons for 6 was to be able to be up to date with the core at the moment [imo] 6 is way behind whats out there - it looks like something that might be ok - but when - there are mature products that blow it away - it needs to be complete now or in the very near future to gain a foothold - its in alpha stage - updates are slow - there seems to be no structure to testing and no official testers - well not here - bugs are reported to the devs in a hap hazard fashion - this place has very little input - the telegraph site seems no more than a talk shop as a way to report problems - inform users and generally keep people informed you should look how its done elsewhere - the Vivaldi forum being a case in point we have one person posting from Maxthon with little info and no discussion - you sacked the 3 admins who had kept this place alive and demoted all those below them - an odd decision at best

After nearly a week, the MX6 alpha 2 test was successfully completed. We have received many praises and constructive suggestions for browser performance and basic functions from hundreds of Maxthon supporters worldwide. On behalf of Maxthon USA Inc., we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your active participation and enthusiastic feedback. Through user discussions in the test group, we can see that many users expressed their support and expectations for MX6 alpha 2. Better performance, faster response Compared with the MX5 browser, MX6 alpha 2 is much faster. Especially opening multiple tabs, its loading capacity and less RAM usage are more prominent. Let's look at feedback from test groups. MX6 is fast. A: "The speed of web page loading of MX6 is twice as fast as MX5." B: " More than twice" The website loading speed of MX6 is fast. Smooth data import, good browser inheritance MX6 is a different product line from MX5. The data of Maxthon 5 and Maxthon 6 cannot be synced, but MX6 can synchronize your data through the cloud. In MX6, you can synchronize your data from the local database to the cloud. If your Maxthon account has used and retained data in previous versions of Maxthon, these data will be automatically synced to your MX6 when syncing the data for the first time. After that, if you want to use both browsers, the data will not be synced but will be synchronized separately under their product lines. Of course, if you want to import MX5 data into MX6 in stages, you can also use the Import/Export user data function. MX6 team may provide a more convenient function to meet users' needs in different scenarios. Separate Bookmarks and Maxnote Maxnote in the MX5 browser has always been a controversial product. Some users think the Maxnote is easy to use; while some users who are used to the traditional favorites feel a bit uncomfortable. To balance the two kinds of user experience, MX6 coexists with Bookmarks and Maxnote. If you like Maxnote, please continue to enjoy it. If you like traditional favorites, please use the "Bookmark" function. When you use MX6 for the first time, it will automatically import the URLs marked as favorites in Maxnote into Bookmarks. User's affirmation and expectation for MX6 MX6 chooses the Chromium open-source kernel as the foundation. Chromium kernel is famous for a series of features such as security, fluency and stability. MX6 inherits these features and fully supports the Chrome addons library. Although MX6 Alpha 2 has some issues or some small bugs, it is still praised and expected by users. The new version is cool! I don’t want to use Edge and Chrome after using MX 6. I use the Maxthon browser from the MyIE2 version, I can't give up. I hope MX6 will be perfected as soon as possible, I am looking forward to it. Your support is our driving force. Thank you for your support and love. We will continue to work hard!

why is it necessary to join somewhere else to get this version - is this not the official forum of Maxthon - you have testers here and a by invite only tester section - what point does that serve if you push versions to anyone who joins the Telegraph group which is effectively public
  36. 2 points
I'm watching the latest mx6 alphas, and I don't like the way it's going. Basically, if you don't implement the features that defined maxthon, I don't know what will be the reason to choose this browser over any chrome version or derivatives (each one with its own ideas and that define its browser, example of vivaldi, opera etc, to name a few) Losing faith for moments 😞

Thanks for the clarification my friends. It’s not hard to comprehend. It’s actully a common sense in building good product. Facebook started as a mischief to rate college girls. Google started as an internal tool. You can not design a product to please everyone, but always a certain kind of people, starting from yourself. Back to topic, although not seen by most people, I believe blockchain can help us build a honest world ( I really mean it in my presentation) and also help users get back their data from companies. That’s why we will build MX6. But it does not mean we will abandon users who don’t care. MX6 will be faster, compatible with MX5 and more importantly, compatible with Chrome, which means no annoying ‘please change your browser’ message, and bring massive Chrome addons to Maxthon users.

Did you miss me? Because I'm here and I will grumble... Again! What happened to your Extensions Center? After years of controversy, we finally realized that users really need extensions. But if you browsers does not have extensions what you users need, it does not mean you can just forget about the extensions that already exist. Does not matter what do we think ab out the browser, does not matter what the developers want to do with the browser, there are too many users who love it and will use even if Maxthon close the project. And this people probably would like to use the extensions. Maxthon's Extensions Center does not work: Users can not write reviews. Just check any extension page - last comment was written in February 2018, almost 2 years ago. I'm almost sure this is because of Mining Go and referral links/codes. I think Maxthon tried to stop all this spam and just close all comments. But why did you do this for all gallery, not for Mining Go page only? Sometimes we need a feedback, but you took that opportunity away from us. Where are all updates? There are not so many extensions for Maxthon, but I can not believe that no one developer has made any update for his extension. Just check Recently Updated - the last update is Shopping Assistant - August 1, 2019. The developer of SaveTube and ViewTube made several updates this autumn, updates for Maxthon is already done and uploaded, but still not available for users. When Twitter released new UI, I updates my mxaddon, but it is still not available too. Even if Maxthon fix the issues, the communication on Extensions Center is broken. There is no way to inform the developer about a problem with his extension: even if you write w comment/review, he will never see that. There is no notifications for developers. And if you like an extension, you can not see other extension from the developer. We don't know you plans, but almost every you user can explain what we want to see and what you should do.If you close Extensions Center (as you did for Skins Center), it will be very bad for the browser, the community and every your user. Come on!
