staying on chrome 109 is just a bad decision and potentially unsafe. Users who are still on win7/8 should be using Supermium, latest version is based on chrome kernel 126 and still runs fine on win 7/8. If they can do it, I don't get why maxthon devs are still stuck on kernel 109... Supermium is open source, just take a peek at how things should be done. Get your shit together maxthon devs ! Microsoft is ending support for win 7,8,10 by october 2025. I suspect the same. Years of chaoting developement neglecting reported issue may have lead to a situation in which files into userdata are still read and produce an effect even if the corresponding feature is not present in the new version. Dirty data could do that. But I believe it's the developer work to come up with a solution instead of the user start anew every time. Expecially when often updates are forced onto the users. Also, Userdata is full of suspiciously redundant data, there's no way to clean it without knowing what every file does.

Many extensions like this one can’t be used in Maxthon because of its outdated core and reliance on Manifest V2. I worry that if the development team doesn’t make changes, Maxthon might soon become obsolete due to compatibility issues.

Hi! Several requests for developers. 1. The status bar has items for displaying the current external IP address. But if you enable any VPN, the status bar always shows the old address, which does not change to the real current one. I would like this item to show the real address and also have the flag of the current country. 2. Add a tool / button for pinging the current page to the status bar. 3. Add a Disable extension item to the extension context menu. Now to disable it you have to open the settings with a full list of all extensions.

I don't know about actual user numbers, but occasionally I lurk on the Chinese language forum and there are increasing numbers of vocal users over there who are also complaining about the old Chromium kernel version and extensions that no longer work. It is not just English (or other language) speakers here who are unhappy, if that is any consolation. Which translates as There have been frequent updates recently, and they are all official versions, but why don’t they update the kernel? Comments like these are frequent with each update.

After MX updated the core, restore last closed tab logic I think changed, so when you click restore tab then you lose its history (buttons back and forward becomes inactive).

Hello, I've been a user since 2009 and the truth is that they've been very late in adjusting the versions aimed at the users. Perhaps it's because I'm no longer part of the users that the developers want to add. Old engine, they took away all the accumulated points, several crashes, and now the extensions are not compatible. Also, such separation should exist in this Forum. 2. So far (even if with some exceptions), WinPC MX releases ending by a "whole" thousand (e.g. 7.1.6.1000, 7.0.0.3000, 7.0.0.2000, 6.2.0.2000, etc.), were marked as "Official", but now V7.1.6.2000 is still a "Beta": how come? What are the release numbering criteria? 3. Why mixing Official and Beta versions in the same page? Wouldn't it be easier to have also a page for "Official only" or separate Betas from Officials? Hello. Thank you for the step-by-step explanation. But let me disagree with one point. I found backups and did exactly as you have scheduled, but the bookmarks still disappeared time after time. Item #1 "close the Maxthon 6 browser" is superfluous and because of it, the instructions will not work! The fact is, after my bookmarks disappeared, they were deleted from the cloud (synchronization). When I restored them from a backup, Maxthon checked at startup which version of bookmarks is more up-to-date, local or cloud, and each time again reset the local bookmarks! But if you restore the bookmark file while running Maxthon, and then restart Maxthon, then the local version is considered more up-to-date and is not erased!

I would also advise that you check the AgentUser String. There are occasions that 109 for the Chrome identity seems to appear. This will sometimes cause problems with CloudFlare queries that become continuous loops. Magdalene has given us several strings to try. Personally, I put in 132 for this build. It has worked fine.

Yes. Maxnote was once awesome! But now I am paying about $25 a year for a competitive cloud based note app, and for the reliability and amount of storage I get it is worth it. Maxnote was once a very good reason to use Maxthon, but now as you say it is only sad.

Hello @BugSir006, just a comment on the user experience of managing the search engines. For some time now I'm very cautious around the "Restore" link in the top right corner of the search engine list. I'm really not going to test its functionality now since in the past it immediately and without asking erased all my manually predefined engines (tens of them) 😐 Unless this has already been dealt with, could you please consider either removing the "Restore" link altogether (users would still be able to remove the unwanted engines one by one) or add some kind of warning notification when clicking on the Restore link, something like "Do you really want to remove all your custom search engine definitions? Yes/No"? Thanks in advance for looking into this.
