  1. Also in the same game, there is a window about cookies, that can't be closed. See the attached image. It is in Bulgarian, so you might not understand what is written. But the small window on the top part is not closing upon pressing the X button. On other browsers and older versions of Maxthon it was working fine. Hi BugSir006, No I'm still with 6.2.0.2400. It didn't auto update, and I still haven't updated it manually. Will try a bit later and let you know if it changes anything. But it was behaving like that quite a few versions back.
  2. Hey guys, I know that there is no real support for clearing cookies within Maxthon, but that brings me to my question. I use the PCH (Publishers Clearing House) website alot to play games and what not. I have actually won money playing these games, but the site heavily relies on cookies, but sometimes the cookies can become corrupt. When this happens within other browsers, I have to clear the cookies in order to get rid of the corrupt cookies, and begin playing again. What can I do within Maxthon to delete these bad cookies? Right now, I can not get the PCH site to work in order to enter the contests until I find a way to delete them. I am actually receiving the following error..... Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit. Cookie /n Apache/2.2.15 (Red Hat) Server at plottoweb07.logs.pch.com Port 80 Sometimes if I just close Maxthon and restart it the error will clear but in other cases, I have to come up with a way of clearing the cookies before the site will stop throwing the error above? This is the problem that I am encountering right now. Closing Maxthon is not clearing this error, so I need a way to delete all the PCH cookies so that I can start entering the contests and playing the games. I would really like to continue playing but with out having a way to clear these cookies, I am completely stuck. Please advise!
  3. Please move this entry to the extensions section Bookmarklet: Tittle: Clear Cookies Script: javascript:void((function(){var cookie_list,sub_domain,location_pathname,cookie_index,cookie_count;cookie_count=0;cookie_list=document.cookie.split("; ");for(cookie_index=0;cookie_index<cookie_list.length&&cookie_list[cookie_index];cookie_index++){cookie_count++;for(sub_domain="."+location.host;sub_domain;sub_domain=sub_domain.replace(/^(?:\.|[^\.]+)/,"")){for(location_pathname=location.pathname;location_pathname;location_pathname=location_pathname.replace(/.$/,"")){document.cookie=(cookie_list[cookie_index]+"; domain="+sub_domain+"; path="+location_pathname+"; expires="+new Date((new Date()).getTime()-1e11).toGMTString());}}}alert("Expired "+cookie_count+" cookies");})())
  4. Maxthon has only a basic level of cookie management from the UI. Your options are delete all or nothing using the options provided. This can be accessed from: - the quicktools bar, - Main Menu > Clear Browsing Data, or - CTRL-SHIFT-DEL keyboard shortcut. Select the Delete cookies option on the dialog that opens. Using Developer Tools Sometimes you may want or need to delete cookies for a particular site due to errors or otherwise and deleting all your cookies isn't the most ideal option. To work around this we have some options. Firstly Maxthon does allow you delete cookies for the current site by using the Developer Tools. FOR MX5 (5.1.x and later) - Open the Developer Tools (F12) - Go to the Application tab, click the Clear storage item. - Ensure at least the Cookies option is selected in the right pane. - Click the Clear site data button. - You can also right-click on the site address under Storage > Cookies and select Clear. FOR MX4.9 (and early MX5 versions) - Open the Developer Tools (F12) - Go to the Resources tab, then the cookies section. - Right-click on the address you would like to clear cookies from and select Clear. - You can also select individual cookies if required in the right pane. This should be your first option when requiring cookies to be deleted only from a particular site. Obviously it's not recommended for anyone who isn't comfortable playing around with things that aren't made directly available by the dev's through the UI. Use at your own risk etc.
  5. Hi Mr. SS, you could go to Settings in MX6 to change your selection for cookies. Settings > Advanced > Site Settings > Cookies and Site Data
  7. Advanced cookie management using third party programs If you need to do more than clean cookies on one or two sites using the above method, then another option is to use a third party tool to help with this. Using Cookiespy Cookiespy is a small utility that supports Maxthon. Install and select Maxthon from the tabs on top. You may need to select it using the + button on the right top corner if you use the portable version. It will display cookies and allow you to search, then delete as required. Using a SQL database manager Thanks to the scripting nature that SQL DB uses you can quite easily selectively delete cookies using any SQL browser/manager program. I've tested with DB Browser for SQLite. This is a basic rundown of how to use it: Open the cookie file (\UserData\Users\guest\Cookies) - Make a backup first! In the Execute SQL tab enter the following query: SELECT * FROM cookies Then on the next line is where you will state the cookies you want to display/delete in the format: WHERE (host_key NOT LIKE '%facebook%') AND (host_key NOT LIKE '%google%') Press the play button to run the query. The SELECT command displays all the cookies that are not what you have designated in the above command. To delete cookies use the query: DELETE FROM Cookies WHERE (host_key NOT LIKE '%facebook%') AND (host_key NOT LIKE '%google%') Press the play button to run the query. This will delete ALL cookies that DO NOT have facebook or google in the cookie data. You can add as many as you like, they just need to be connected with AND: WHERE (host_key NOT LIKE '%facebook%') AND (host_key NOT LIKE '%google%') AND WHERE (host_key NOT LIKE '%microsoft%') AND (host_key NOT LIKE '%yahoo%') Also make sure all the symbols ('%%') are there otherwise you will get errors. NOTE: You only need to use the DELETE query. I've mentioned the SELECT option so you can view the cookies that will be deleted in case there is some other ones that you didn't add to the list. I recommend creating a backup of your Cookies file before you do this in case something goes wrong. But they're only cookies - so it's not that bad. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, i'm just providing the info that I came across and won't be responsible for anyone losing any data by using this method. Seeing as the browser natively writes and reads to a SQL database, i'd imagine it's relatively trivial for the developers to create a UI to make it accessible to the end user. But for whatever reason it hasn't been done yet. I'd guess that it could be added as an extension if there was a way that you could implement a SQL manager into the extension file somehow. Regardless this is an option for anyone that needs to remove multiple cookies and keep select ones from different sites. Enjoy :-)
  8. Also, I get many errors like this lately (starting with version 6.1.2.1400). I get them on websites that I never got them on before. This page isn’t working www.example.com redirected you too many times. Try clearing your cookies. ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS
  9. Also, something similar to Vivaldi's "Cookie Crumbler" would be very useful, something to set all those annoying GDPR permissions to a certain level and have no more pop-ups and pop-overs asking permission to plant tons of cookies on your device.

  14. A little more Info : Somebody posted this earlier, in Mx Settings there is an option "Third-party cookie policy" with a dropdown listing "Auto", "Allow", and "Forbid". The names are a little misleading in the sense of what they aactually do. Allow "Allow" option lets third-party cookies to be the same for every website. So, for example, if there's an embedded image from a third-party website A placed on a website B and website C, the cookies that are send to website A will always be the same, regardless of whenever it was accessed from website B or C Auto "Auto" option doesn't let the same happen to third-party cookies. Instead of letting all third-party cookies to be always the same regardless of first paty domain, they are separated for each domain. So with this option the cookies will be sent depending on which first-party website you're visiting Forbid "Forbid" option disables all third-party cookies, but first-party cookies are still allowed. The cookies are never sent when connecting to a website from another website Source is this Post : • Cookie handling - User Voices - Maxthon Community - Powered by Discuz! (old-forum)

  17. This is a basic troubleshooting guide for users to try and find the cause of issues. Following the guide should allow you to hopefully fix the issue, or at least figure out the source that is causing it so that when posting on the forum users have more information available to offer help. 1 /Are you running the latest version of Maxthon? Check the forum for any new releases and update/reinstall. Most issues will generally be resolved in new builds, or just by the reinstall process. Also ensure you have the latest version of Flash and any other plugins you might be using. If an update/reinstall doesn't work, try doing a clean install which removes all userdata during the uninstall process. Your userdata will be restored if you are using a Maxthon Passport. If you're using a local/guest account, make sure you have a backup of your Maxthon userdata folder (Open an explorer window and type the following into the address bar: %appdata%\Maxthon3\Users\guest). Keep a copy this folder, then copy it back once you have reinstalled. 2 /Do a forum search. Chances are someone has had the issue before you and a fix has been found. If you find a solution that works, reply in the thread so others know that it has worked for other users as well. 3 /Try changing to Retro Mode. A great feature of Maxthon that allows you to view a site using the Internet Explorer renderer in case the site has issues with Webkit/Blink. Main Menu > Switch Browser Core, or press the lightning button on the right of the address bar so it changes to a broken blue page. 4 /Connection error? (eg. unable to resolve domain name or can't connect error) try with another browser to see if it also has the same issue. Use a site likehttp://isup.me to check that the site is in fact online. Also check there isn't a problem with your DNS servers. You can try testing with Google (8.8.8.8) or OpenDNS (208.67.222.220) servers. And always provide a link to the site/page in question when posting so others can check to see if the problem is more widespread. 5 /Try disabling AdBlock Plus. Sometimes overly aggressive blocking can cause issues on a site. If this fixes the problem some of your rules may need to be revised. Post on the forum and someone should be able to offer a solution. 6 /Try deleting/clearing cookies There might be a corrupt or invalid cookie causing the problem. Deleting them will ensure new ones are created. Option 1: (Ctrl-Shift-Del) or from the Main Menu > Clear Browsing Data menu option, or toolbar. [Images here] Option 2: To delete cookies for only one site you can use the Developer Tools. [Images here] Option 3: You can also use the following 3rd party programs: -CookieSpy which can show Maxthon cookies, and DB Browser for SQLite which offer more advanced means of working with cookies. [More details here]NOTE: Only option 1 is recommended. Options 2 & 3 are only for advanced users. 7 /Try disabling all extensions. If disabling extensions fixes the problem then one of your extensions is causing the problem. Enable them one by one testing after each until you find the one causing the problem. 8 /Check the advanced options. Ensure you are using the default User Agent (should be unchecked), check with GPU acceleration on/off, and ensure that "Allow all sites to run plug-ins is enabled" if trying to troubleshoot a plugin related problem. These can be found by going to Main Menu > Settings > Advanced. If the above steps don't resolve the issue, follow the next steps which should help determine if the problem is with Maxthon, your account settings or system related and hopefully lead to the cause of the problem. 9 /Sign out of your Maxthon Passport. Check to see if the same problem still occurs. If not signing in fixes the problem, then it's more than likely a settings related issue. Disable all sync options from the menu then enable them one by one, testing for the problem until it occurs again. Once you know which settings are causing the issue make a post on the forum with the details for further assistance. 10 /Test with Maxthon Portable. Download & extract to any folder, run, check for the issue. DO NOT SIGN IN to your Maxthon Passport account. If this works then it's more than likely related to your install. Doing a clean install should fix the problem. If going through the above doesn't fix the problem, then start a thread on the forum to see if someone can help out. Offer as much information as you can, especially the following: - Any error messages; - What version of Maxthon and operating system you are running; - Any out of the ordinary programs (network related like firewalls, or downloaders like Orbit); - What you have tried to fix/find out what the issue was. Otherwise people will offer solutions that you may have already done; - And if applicable link some screenshots if it will make things easier for others to understand the problem. The best case scenario is you will find and fix the issue without having to wait hours or days for a response on the forum. At minimum you will narrow in on the issue allowing others to offer a quicker and more appropriate response for the problem. And you may learn something as well :-) Happy troubleshooting!
  18. If you can't make any comments on YouTube... The best and the most secure way to do this, is to leave a marking in the "Block third-party cookies and site data" and also into 'Manage Exceptions' add some exception for Google+ and YouTube. This is how I wrote it in Firefox (v.38.0). ( this also works for Chrome and IE ) Copy and Paste this in, one line at a time, exactly as it is written. google.com youtube.com plus.google.com apis.google.com plus.googleapis.com This will accomplishes the same goal, without opening you up to ANY 3rd party cookies. = more and better safety for you. BUT: In the Maxthon 4 Browser, you sadly have to allow 3-part cookies temporally In Mx4 , under Settings > Advanced > Content Control = Allow or Auto P.S. If this tip isn't not working still, then you have to go into your Google+ settings, and set a marking for YouTube, so it's become connected with Google+ = Allowing it. New Video, for more help and Info... • NEW YOUTUBE COMMENT SYSTEM HOW TO ENABLE COMMENTS AGAIN • https://plus.google.com/102702089800638813054/posts/EbXBaMbyRrU P.S. This don't work in Nitro, because it's all-ready open for 3-part cookies. • More Info for Mx 4 ~> youtube/google issue workarounds Best Regards Ohke EDIT : I know this is very backwards, because Google owns YouTube now. Don't understand why they need to use this with 3-part cookies. But thats Google in a Nutshell...
  19. Ok, well this is even better! Thanks a ton Oliver One!!! For those that may not have seen that post, I copied the important part from 7twenty's post.. Edited by 7twenty at 2013-11-24 01:07 Some good news! I was in the Developer Tools (F12) looking at some coding for removing some ads, and was looking thru the Resources tab. Displayed in this tab is a section for cookies for the site open. It's simple to select all or some of cookies for that site and delete them. Not as user friendly as choosing a number of sites to delete, or excluding some, but it's a lot better than using SQLite browser as I and some others have been, or deleting all using the UI option. I tested it by deleting all the cookies for the forum.maxthon.com address/page and it worked fine. Obviously it's not recommended for anyone who isn't comfortable playing around with things that aren't made directly available by the dev's through the UI. Use at your own risk etc. Ok, so while no one has officially answered my second question, reading that second thread that Oliver One posted, has given me my answer. Rather then keeping the cookies in txt files in a specific directory, Maxthon places the cookies into an SQL database. This actually makes sense for performance reasons. While it is not as user friendly as having access to the txt files todo what you please, 7twenty's find makes it far more user friendly by using the resources tab rather than having to fire up something like SQL Lite. Again, as 7twenty mentioned, if you are not comfortable with using such advanced resources / tools, then please do not try to use this as you could cause unrepairable harm which may cause you to have to reinstall your browser, however, for us more advanced users this is perfect. Having said that, this answers my question as to why I am always seeing posts stating that Maxthon does not support tools for cookie support, however, while they do not support intuitive tools for cookie support, they DO in fact support it. In fact, using the resources tab you can even go as far as deleting the specific cookie from the database if you know what your looking at. Thanks Oliver One, you linked in a VERY valuable bit of information and I could not thank you more! I hope everyone here has a very Happy and Healthy New Year!! Cheers!

Ok, so then I am a little confused, why do I see all these posts where I see you guys saying that you guys don't support cookies? Is that just because you don't store cookies like other browsers do, say like in a directory where you can go and individually delete specific files? Perhaps that is what I am always seeing around? I appreciate the really quick reply on this. The link you sent me was perfect! I used that to delete ALL the cookies, and while I had to relog in to all the sites I was on except (oddly enough) the PCH page, but after I cleared all the cookies, I was able to get the PCH games page to load, so you helped me fix my problem, thanks!

  25. Hi Guys, So I have this weird problem where when I try to get into Facebook (especially when there are posts and messages waiting for me), the site becomes very unresponsive to the point where I just have to close it and use a different browser in order to access the posts / messages. I have not seen this problem with any other website. The only way for me to view the post or msg is to just use a another browser like Chrome or Firefox. Just to cover my bases, I am running Windows 8.1 and Maxthon v 4.4.3.4000 (the latest version according to Maxthon:About.) If I do not have any new posts, or no one has attempted to message me, I can use the site just fine, but once someone does, and I click on the Facebook tab, or I open Facebook and there is a message / post waiting for me, the page will not load. I have tried many things to get past this, suck as simply closing the tab and opening anew. Nope. I have tried closing the browsers, rebooting (Why? Because nothing else worked! lol) Nope, nadda.) Clearing cache, history. Gone as far as to use CClearner to help clean something that may just be hiding..No way!.... Ok, So how-about clearing the cookies for Facebook? (F12/resources, use at your own risk if you aren't sure what you are doing) Clearing cookies did not help either. So guys as you can see, I don't know what or why I am having this problem and it's is only with Facebook, and only when there is a new post or personal message to me. Otherwise there is not problem moving about Facebook. If anyone can provide me with some suggestions, I would really be appreciated. It makes absolutely no sense to me what so ever. If I had to venture a guess as to the problem, I would say that it was either an issue with corrupt cookies, or corrupt cache, however, clearing these does not seem to help out at all, and that puts me at a huge loss. The worse part is clearing cleaning these does not seem to be helping me get past this. My only solution thus far is to just use another browser. I was looking through the forums, and I came a across another thread that I am not sure but could be similar to this. I am not real sure but since this problem seems was out there, It thought I would mention it anyway incase they are related, plus it would help silence those that think that people don't search the forums here before opening a new thread! Check out this link http://forum.maxthon.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=14593&fromuid=30707338 May not have anything to do with my issue, but who knows. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas please let me know!
