Atavus
Hi, I recently upgraded to the latest beta v4.9.0.2400 because I had an audio problem with the previous version (explained below if interested). But I ran into a couple of bugs so far: (1) Status bar @ bottom: left side permanently displays some chinese writing (websites). Clicking it directs me to some chinese website (both shown in the picture attached). (2) Status bar @ bottom: I am missing the information button menu thing on the right side, which used to display various useful info like Public IP etc. (3) Print screen now invokes the snap feature, which I find annoying. (4) The font seems to have changed? It seems thinner and harder to read now @ 100% zoom. I cannot say for sure but I can see something different in the font of several website that I frequent. I am running win7-SP1 64bit. PS: My previous Maxthon (v4.4.7.1000) had an audio problem. Basically, If I was playing some music on Winamp and then I opened a Youtube video or some other audio source on Maxthon, all audio would stop: both Winamp and Youtube would be muted. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling Flash and Audio Drivers to no avail. The problem seems to be resolved in the latest beta 4.9.0.2400.

Next time please try a search like this: You'll find the answer to eliminating the Chinese text problem on your statusbar in this message http://forum.maxthon.com/index.php?/topic/18288-winpc-followup-chinese-text-in-status-bar/&do=findComment&comment=94848 Re. #2 item: The lack of system information on the status bar has also been posted and you could have just added your own observation there. Search is a real help in keeping related problem reports together. <<SL>>
Atavus
Thanks for the reply. #1 is solved. And according to my search I guess #2 and #3 are known issues? Not sure about #4 and the audio bug, but there is another issue: (5) I used to have a small search bar to the right of the address bar, which I seem to be missing now. It had a drop-down menu to chose which search engine to use. I cannot find info about this or any mention of it in Settings. I have several extensions enabled on that right side, but no search bar. I have "Search v1.2.2" listed and enabled under extensions. Any ideas please?

Search bar is contain within the address bar in 4.9, simply add a query into the address bar and select your search engine. 2: The devs haven't decided whether or not status info will be added to 4.9, but given the feed back, hopefully it will 3: FIxed in internal version. 4: Never had an issue with sound Come to think of it I did, just wasn't sure what was causing it, but it is fixed internally as well

Also, new searches opened a new tab automatically, which is just what I like. Using the new imbeded search function, on the other hand, replaces the current tab, which is not what I would like to have.

There is an option to open new tabs in the background which isn't working properly. Also, when QA is open it is stealing new tab function which I don't think it should. When you're browsing and want to do a search, open a new tab and search from the addressbar meanwhile return to the original tab to continue reading/viewing/etc. This amounts to doing manually what the searchbar used to do. It's a trivial change of habit. Actually, it's possible to make the addressbar behave like the searchbar used to. Put a check by " Open a new tab from the address bar " and you will get your searches in a new tab. The other item to leave unchecked is " When opening a link in a new Tab, place new tab on top " However, this is where the bug is. New Tabs always appear ON TOP regardless of whether this is checked or not. This option needs to be fixed so it works. <<SL>>

Atavus
Hi again and thanks for the replies, I just wanted to add a couple of things: (1) Page loading: I am having an issue with v4.9.0.2400 where many pages take too long to load. I have to reload (F5) them multiple times for them to eventually open. (2) Open in new tab: When doing an Internet search and right-clicking a result and choosing "Open in new tab", I sometimes get an error message on the new tab: This page can’t be displayed Make sure the web address http:// is correct. Look for the page with your search engine. Refresh the page in a few minutes. The new tab itself would have an address like this: http:///url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwj6tY6x-pbKAhUIaxQKHWuUAnoQFggjMAE&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.reddit.com%2Fr%2FPS4%2Fcomments%2F3sk12x%2Fif_youre_experiencing_motion_sickness_in_fallout%2F&usg=AFQjCNFCGKUwsLYVT4vSwDCr4NdUyMK0Pw&bvm=bv.110151844,d.d24 PS: If I click the link directly, it opens just fine (after small delay). Also, if I drag+drop the link, it opens another working tab properly. So, it is only the "open in new tab" command that seems to be problematic. I'm not really sure what is going on. I've tried changing many things in Options to solve the above 2 issues without success. (3) Split Screen feature: I want to join those wanting this back. Atavus
Thank you both. I installed v4.9.0.2600 and so far I still see an issue (at least so far): 1) Open in new tab: When doing an Internet search and right-clicking a result and choosing "Open in new tab", I sometimes get an error message on the new tab: This page can’t be displayed Make sure the web address http:// is correct. Look for the page with your search engine. Refresh the page in a few minutes. Also, if I drag/drop the link, it opens another working tab properly. So, it is only the "open in new tab" command that seems to be problematic. - It seems to happen mostly with some sites, like https://www.reddit.com/ and https://steamcommunity.com/ and https://www.youtube.com/ search links. After some comparison, it seems the issue happens with any search result that starts with https://www. as opposed to www. or something similar.
