Something weird happened to my Maxthon (i've been using the browser for 10+ years, but im really angry now). First of all, it would not open - it crashed on opening. I reinstalled it (was using version 6), tried also 7, portable and installation, now it opens, but i cant log into my account. It just freezes when i try to do that, or simply closes. I need my passwords/bookmarks asap please help me...

Hi, for a few days I have not been able to log in to maxthon passport on maxthon 5 while on maxthon 7 no problem. The error is this: "Login failed (outdated client).(error code 4)". How do I fix it? Thanks.

The last couple weeks a trange bug appeared. Everytime I start MX6 and MX7 it opens the MSN page. I change the setting to "New tab", but upon restarting Maxthon, it goes back to "Customize" and with the url "http://www.msn.com/?pc=&ocid=DHP&osmkt=en-us" entered in the box below. Tried deleting the url, changing the setting, get the "Settings saved" message, but again, upon restart it goes back. I even updated to the 7.0.0.1000 version, still the same situation.

Using v 6.2.0.2600 I have set that when a Tab is closed the previous tab used is displayed. This does not work if Tab sleep is turned on to save resources and after the time delay for it to go to sleep when the tab selected then is the start tab which in my case is Last Session and not the sleeping last tab used.

Hello, I have looked at the Get search engines from your browsing history and add them to search engine list automatically within the General/Search engine category... and it was long... too long. It was wild. And it's not even possible to clear that list in one go - you have to clear them one by one. Not to mention that it includes stuff like FB, Amazon, etc. which are not relevant most of the time anyway. This is not a relevant way of doing this, and personally I prefer for that list to not even exist. Please add a ticker option to turn this feature off completely.

McAfee keeps blocking me from opening Maxthon. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Any ideas? This happened out of the blue yesterday morning after a automatic update. Thanks!

It appears there were numerous reports of uu.me not providing a bug-free login experience a while back. The topic was closed and archived with no resolution. Therefore, I am starting a new topic. Maxthon developers removed the direct link to UUMail from the New Tab Page in MX6 that existed in MX5. Now, when I go to uu.me in MX6 there is a hyperlink to "Log in with the current account." That would be great if it worked. It never works for me. Never. Absolutely nothing happens. Can this be fixed? For reference, here is the previous discussion where many users were reporting this bug.

This is an updated thread replacing the previous ones that have been archived. MX 7 and 6 only function on Windows 7 or later. Chrome 110 and later only function on Windows 10 and 11. Earlier versions of Windows will remain on Chrome 109. Chrome 110 and up function in the UA for all versions of Windows. At present (March 2023) it is not possible to change the User Agent in MX 6 using the traditional internal UA modifier/selector so you have to use extensions from the chrome store. I personally use https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-for-c/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg as you can set a permanent spoof UA rather than one per tab or browser session only. There are several other UA modifier extensions in the Chrome Webstore if you want to try other ones. The Qupzilla browser is now obsolete and is no longer being developed. I have also removed the MX 6.1 series. From December 2022 I have in incorporated Edge and Opera as standard as Qupzilla was starting to break things such as Live Chat on Youtube. When it becomes possible to Change UA's in Maxthon using the internal Maxthon modifier/selector I will update this portion of the thread. With Windows 11 the system is changing to User Agent Client Hints (UA-CH). More information to follow as Browsers adapt to this new system. Google the term for the latest relevant information as it is adopted and evolves. You can also modify the User Agent Request Header and reduce the Minor browser version using flags.
