  1. AdminH replied at 2015-1-15 07:24 Did you try installing new version anyway? The issue isn't about installing a new version. It's that the updater checker doesn't always find the most recent version. It can at times be a number a versions behind. Previous threads here: http://forum.maxthon.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=13009 http://forum.maxthon.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=13728 http://forum.maxthon.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=6357 http://forum.maxthon.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=11227
  2. Maybe PM the extension creator and see they can update it to include all google.* domains, not just .com. http://forum.maxthon.com/home.php?mod=space&uid=11090790&do=profile
  3. I can only guess that ViolentMonkey does something with the script that doesn't happen when you make an extension from it. It might just be a case of adding one or two lines to make it work, but I can't help with that - i've got no idea. The only other thing I can think of is that there are no sites defined in the "permissions" or "include" sections of the def.json. If you check the youtube center extension (which also seems to based of a userscript) you'll see they're listed. Although i've checked some others that don't have anything listed and they still work - i'm guessing if it's not defined it means "anysite"? I tried playing around by adding some, and the only difference that I noticed was that the plugin was being called - if you check the dev tools console section you'll see the MX package GUID listed, but it wasn't working otherwise.
  4. I don't think there is a lot going on in that area... but anything can happen.
  5. Just right-click on the folder you want to sort and select the "Sort by title" option. This can also be done on the favourites button list, the sidebar favourites and the favourites bar.
  6. Although I thought I posted about Skynote as well?!
  7. Nice options, and when there is no other you use whatever you can get. Would be nice if there was at least one VPN extension option. For me at least, it's not something that I use a lot, so to have to install another program that barely gets used seems a waste. I'd rather just open up FF with it installed for the few times I might need it. And for that reason it'd be nice to have Hola at least available as an extension.
  8. The whatsnew page forum link in the top right corner links to the old archive section of the site. It should be updated with http://forum.maxthon.com/forum.php
  9. I've posted so many times about this. And I can't believe something so simple still hasn't been implemented. Good to know i'm not the only one that is slightly annoyed by it. I just changed the color to White and now I don't see them.It helps but it's not perfect, and still no good on darker themed sites.
  10. Maxthon should write their ownThey haven't yet, and see no reason why they'd start now. where by you are not restricted to Google censorship onlyThey have the biggest repository of browser extensions available of any browser on the market. Seeing as they're using chromium as the base, unless there is a technical reason (extensions code dropped, security, changes made to the core prevent them from using them) i don't see why they shouldn't let users have access to them. Otherwise you have the issue like mx4 where you have a lot of major extensions not being available and quite possibly the reason many users just wont consider MX as a viable option for their daily browsing.
  11. gexxy replied at 2015-1-10 23:57 Have you seen the movie? Yes, but I can't see those little stars. I think they might only show when logged in. Also after testing some more i've the issues occur even with the additions to AH. So there is something else going on.
  12. No problem here either. Update your Maxthon as recommended by magg.
  13. Nitro doesn't support extensions (yet?)
  14. DreamsOfAnarchy replied at 2015-1-10 00:25 wondering if anyone found an answer to this yet, from reading posts looking for an answer I see alot ... A workaround is explained in post #11. Unfortunately there is no easy on/off option. when I start typing in the address bar, the only suggestion I want is from my favorites, NOTHING ELSE.The closest you will get is doing the workaround as listed above, and unchecking the "Show History items in suggestions" option in the address bar settings. After that it will only show matched URLs that you've typed in the address bar and those in your favourites.
  15. why do you have Maxthon 4.4.4.600?Because it's available. where I find it?Right here it doesn't find updatesUpdater doesn't find beta versions. You need to do it manually via the forum link above. Have you tested as requested in post #49?
  16. Your UA is showing Maxthon 4.4.1.2001? Have you changed your UserAgent? Can you please test with extracting the Portable Version and running that.
  17. What version of Maxthon are you running? You can update to the most recent beta here. If you are using a Maxthon passport account, don't sign in and see if that helps. If that works ok, then it's a problem in your settings.
  18. gexxy replied at 2015-1-8 08:16 Any help? Any contact of developer? The problem continues in 2 pc I've been playing around and while initially I had some weird things happening (like a freeze), after adding some extra ad rules it seems to have alleviated the problem. So while this might not fix it for you it does seem to have helped on my system. It looks like there's some Javascript that doesn't make Maxthon very happy, and by blocking it things seem to be much better. As to why other browsers work, I have no idea - but clearly they're able to deal with whatever it is that is causing the issue better than Maxthon. You can try adding the following to AdHunter/ABP and see if it helps out as it did for me. The first line is to (hopefully) stop the issue, the others are to remove extra ads that aren't removed by default. For ABP (MX4.4.4.600)*.js$domain=gruppoesperti.it gruppoesperti.it##div ||shoppydoo.it^For AdHunter (MX4.4.3.4000 & lower)*.js* ##div ||shoppydoo.it^Not sure if the last line works with AdHunter though. By blocking the Javascript it may break something on the webpage (possibly Facebook integration as it's part of the JS that's blocked). Or they just might be extra stuff that doesn't really make a difference. As for contacting the developers, there's not much more you can do apart from posting here. The resident Maxthon rep hasn't posted in this thread yet, but probably is aware of it. You can try sending an email to support@maxthon.com, but don't expect a reply back. Let us know how you go with the above.
  19. Can you run through the troubleshooting guide and reply with what you come up with. When you tried on the other computer, was this with the same Maxthon account or a new install.
  20. It depends on how Facebook detects that info. Not really a Maxthon issue, as FB might just be looking out for the 4 big browsers, or using the rendering engine to guess what it is. I don't see what the big deal is though.
  21. Works fine here, ABP enabled and using the default lists. 4.4.4.600 Test with signing out of your Maxthon passport account and see if it still occurs.
  22. It would be nice if someone with more knowledge of AH and ABP was able to explain the differences in how they work and what exactly it is that makes ABP that much better. I've said before that i'm sure it's just a case of the filters being more up to date with ABP as that is the only thing that ABP does. But then there are things that AH always had issues with (video ads and popups) which ABP is purportedly very good at (although that hasn't been my view so far, even though it works well on FF/Chrome).
  23. s_ta_s replied at 2015-1-5 01:14 Your appeal to the Maxthon developers is useless, IMHO. Much more serious errors are not corrected ... I know, and I do but I don't think it should just be swept under the rug. ABP users got what they wanted Also it's one thing to create a skin for the main chrome, but dialog boxes etc are generally not part of a skin (although can be done with a ui/page.dat mod). It's not like this is something that needs to be changed every other release (as we've clearly seen). Fix it once and leave it till whenever. What annoys me the most is that it's all quick fixes that any decent coder should be able to do in their sleep!
  24. My computer is very old utilizing of ski.If you bothered to listen to anything that people have told you in the past, you would realise that a skin can have little to no impact on Maxthon's performance unless the skin is designed with a lot of changes compared to the basic skin.
  25. So this is something that i've brought up a few times before. Consistency in Maxthon's UI is somewhat lacking. There are a number of different dialogs, and each one of them has its own differences. I haven't even included SkyNote, which is still stuck in the MX3 style. 1 (orange) / Different sized titles 2 (red) / Different sized tabs 3 (red) / Different styled tabs (greyscale flat images & text / coloured images & black text / no icons & black text) 4 (green) / Different sized buttons (and naming? Done/Close) 5 (blue) / Buttons/tabs not aligned to any elements (Resource Sniffer is good, Adblock dialog elements are all over the place) 6 (purple) / Icon on title only on ABP dialog (i'm guessing this was requested by ABP - their logo plastered everywhere possible) 7 / Windows standard chrome on Resource sniffer, but MX chrome on other dialogs. Why not drop the chrome from Sniffer? The ABP dialog might still be a work in progress, but even so the framework is there so I don't see how it's that hard to make it correct from the start. It might seem a somewhat petty thing to bring up, but the UI is what every user sees and interacts with every day, it should make sense and not make the user wonder if they've started another program because elements look different (i know i'm pushing the point there, but you see what i'm getting at). Can whoever does the UI design please spend a few hours (if that) and at least fix some of the above.
