BUG REPORT: http / https links not opening on maxthon on latest version

after updating to 7.3.1.4200 (and 4201) links from outside sources (like outlook and other programs) no opening in maxthon anymore (or any other software)

if I change the default for HTTP and HTTPS to a different browser it works fine but after setting it back to maxthon as a default browser it's not opening.

Hi callisto96, kindly update to the latest 4600 version and make sure you have selected the necessary file type in Settings < Default app settings < Open in Maxthon

downloaded it now from the beta page, it didn't help, still have the same issue

meanwhile downgrading back to 7.2.2.4400 solved the issue

another issue arose after the downgrading (now at 7.2.2.4000) my original start page with all the tiles was deleted and reverted to the default one, tried to restore the "Shortcuts" file but it didn't help, tried to re-customizing it but it revert back to the original default so I am unable to customize it anymore

I am talking about the page in the image attached

any advice ?

Hi callisto96, do you initially have a backup of user data? If yes, you should be restoring from the local folder 'QuickAccess' and not shortcuts.

it didn't help as well, see the video that demonstrates the issue

by the way, I had this issue before where my custom links deleted and I restored the "shortcuts" file and it resolved the issue, in this case nor the "shortcuts" or "quickaccess" helped, and as can be seen on the video even if I try to re-edit the home page with the custom shortcuts manually it still don't save the changes.

please advise on how to proceed

Hi callisto96, which version are you using right now? And are you using the installed or portable version? Did you do a clean installation?

as said above, had to downgrade to 7.2.2.4400, it's the installed version, I did not try clean installation as I didn't want to erase my data (which is not synced)

tried right now to update to maxthon_7.3.1.4800_beta_x64.exe and it restored my custom start page with my links but the original problem that links don't open in maxthon returned.

I created a shortcut file to google and also I try to open plex and as can be seen by the video while maxthon is the default browser it does nothing with it.

Hi callisto96, I tried creating a couple of shortcuts and there are no issues in opening them in browser. Perhaps you might want to disable all extensions and try again?

tried it right now, it didn't help

uninstalled maxthon completely, reinstalled maxthon_7.3.1.4800_beta_x64.exe 

didn't import anything

first link open right after opening the browser and that's it, same bug

Hi callisto96, could you try to rename your user data folder then try to open the browser and use guest account to see if it helps?

as said before even after uninstalling maxthon completely and reinstalling a clean copy I still have this issue on latest versions, if I revert to previous version there is no issue with this

Hi callisto96, is it possible for you to PM me your user data so I could get the team to check further?

it's not an issue with the user data as even on a clean install with blank user data the issue on newer version that can't open links still exists

ok I think I resolved the issue by :
1. uninstalling Maxthon
2. installing maxthon_7.3.1.5000_beta_x64.exe
3. on latest versions I see that there is a new directory called "Maxthon Guest Profile" that wasn't there on my previous versions, and what I used to have under "Default" should be move there.
4. copied all the directories 
5. recreated my shortcuts for the main page 
now everything seems to be working (it's only been 10 minutes but it looks ok)
