Perplexer
I use Maxthon on two PC computers and I noticed that on the second PC I don't have the same "New tab" background image as on the main PC, and I can't find the correct picture. On my main PC, I have "Wallpaper -> Background -> Local image" selected but when I click on the small image thumbnail, the file selector opens but I can't see which image is being used. Does anyone know how I can find the actual image so I can copy it to the second PC and use it there as well?
Magdalene
Click on the symbol (Arrowed Circle) in the middle of the sample image. Edited December 10, 2024 by Magdalene
Perplexer
That's what I mentioned in my post. If I click on that, a file selection prompt/window opens (in a folder that doesn't contain any images). I now manually selected an image that I had on my drive and then I deleted that image from my drive. The image still stayed visible as a background image on the "New tab" page in Maxthon. Even if I switched to solid color and then went back to "Local Image", the image again displayed, even though it was deleted from the drive. It's like Maxthon keeps the last used image in some sort of a cache somewhere. I just need to find this cache so I can copy the image out. Perplexer
I managed to solve the problem. Was a bit tricky. I used the "Developer tools" on a new tab to determine the name of the background image, which was "chrome://newtab/maxthon/getdata/pc_newtab_img_maxthon_com_static_img_bg_night_jpg". I then searched for "pc_newtab_img_maxthon_com_static_img_bg_night_jpg" on my drive and found this file sitting in "d:\Programi\Internet\Maxthon\User Data\Profile 1\Mx WebData\newtab\". I then went back to the wallpaper setting window and selected "Local Image" and then navigated to that folder. But because the open prompt window used a filetype filter for *.jpg which couldn't be disabled, no files were shown. But typing the name of the file into the File name textbox worked and it grabbed that image to be the wallpaper.
