MX 6 + MX 5 Updated User Agent

Recommended Posts

This is an updated thread replacing the previous ones that have been archived.

MX 6 only functions on Windows 7 or later.

At present (June 2021) it is not possible to change the User Agent in MX 6 using the traditional internal UA modifier/selector so you have to use extensions from the chrome store https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/user agent?_category=extensions. The choice is yours.

The Qupzilla browser is now obsolete and is no longer being developed but it still functions well in the UA. If anybody wants to suggest a replacement please post it here. We can try them out.

@14615246 has suggested using Edge (latest is Edge/93.0.961.52) instead of Qupzilla. It works if anyone wants to try it.

When it becomes possible to Change UA's in Maxthon using the internal Maxthon modifier/selector I will update this portion of the thread.

Thanks to Imanerd.

I don't get that problem Sergey. I use this UA on MX 5.3.8.2100 and Win 10 (2004)

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; IA64; en) AppleWebKit/599.0+ Maxthon/6.1 Chrome/90.0.4430.212  QupZilla/2.2.6

I can no longer block Ads on YT. Can you?

I am using Maxthon 5.3.8.2100 on the Windows7(64bit) operating system. In the browser identification bar (User Agent), I have the following entry:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Windows NT 6.1; U; WOW64; IA64; en) AppleWebKit/599.0+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Maxthon/5.3.8.2100 Chrome/90.0.4430.212 Safari/537.36 OPR/76.0.4017.123 QupZilla/2.2.60

At the same time, I have this picture in a live broadcast on Youtube:

1987620657_UAwithMaxthon.thumb.jpg.e1d274b60b5f8e84c9a0aff6a16b2d95.jpg

BUT, if I replace at least one letter in the word "Maxthon" of the UserAgent string, for example, I replace the letter "h" with the letter "N" , then everything works as before, as it should be:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Windows NT 6.1; U; WOW64; IA64; en) AppleWebKit/599.0+ (KHTML, like Gecko) MaxtNon/5.3.8.2100 Chrome/90.0.4430.212 Safari/537.36 OPR/76.0.4017.123 QupZilla/2.2.60

464331098_UAwithMaxtNon.thumb.jpg.6427e6acf0546d59ca44ad0429531573.jpg

Thus, the obvious reaction of Youtube to the word "Maxthon" is revealed.

I'm currently using this script for Violentmonkey, it very effectively "cuts" ads on Youtube:

Thanks for the script. I had other Adblock scripts but they stopped working as YT evolved.

I don't know why a letter change in 'Maxthon' should enable the UA unless 'Maxthon' is being ignored. Perhaps this is regional.

Edit: tried the script. It didn't work. Is it possible to update ViolentMonkey?

That was really great.I have an outstanding issue to deal with..and it's about DeviantArt,it needs to load up the groups. As for Tumblr and other websites...how can the members of Maxthon create a user agent that allows Maxthon 5 to act more like an up to date version of Microsoft Edge,Google Chrome and Maxthon 6 without the words "You're using an unsupported browser. Please upgrade/update your browser"on the websites like Deviantart,YouTube,Google and even on Tumblr.

Load it up please.png

This is what it was supposed to be.PNG

Trust me...Microsoft Edge works well.Remove the QupZilla one from the user agent and replace it with Microsoft Edge more like I did here Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; IA64; en) AppleWebKit/599.0+ MaxtNon/6.1 Chrome/91.0.4472.124 Edge/91.0.864.59

You're quite welcome.Hopefully GreaseFork and ViolentMonkey would do great together..GreaseFork can do the scripts for both Tumblr and DeviantArt in case of the load up issues and ViolentMonkey installs the scripts. If the Microsoft Edge thing does work..then it'll be a success. If not, then it's gonna be a big fat fail.

Hello Magdalene

I think I will fix my problem with your message in this thread.
My problem is:
I'm using Windows 10 Pro and Maxthon 5.3.8.2100-beta.
For some reason I didn't upgrade to the MX 6.
Since 1 week my gmail mailbox in MX 5 is not opening. When I try to open it it says Unsupported browser. I'm pretty sure it's because of maxthon and not gmail.
You wrote a description.

But I didn't understand how to do it. Where should I write this sentence? So that the problem is solved.
Will it be written in the settings?
Thank you so much.
