Uninstalling MX5 on w10 + O365 (v2016 x64)

Recommended Posts

I just uninstalled mx5 cos it can't go thru the login process while being behind a proxy.

After the uninstallation I suddendly can't open up links in an outlook email, I just got a popup saying "your organization's policies are preventing us from completing this action for you"

After digging the net about this error message, I saw that some registry key (the one that manage html association) were still assigned to MX5.

I had to modify those keys :

- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\.shtml

- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\.html

- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\.htm

by replacing "MX5.Association.HTML" by "htmlfile" in all "default" key

FYI MX5 was set to be The default browser during the installation.

A complete shutdown and re-boot fixed it for me the other day.
