It's new Microsoft's "feature" to promote own software. Check link for instructions how to change Maxthon to default browser http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/how-set-your-default-browser-windows-10-just-5-steps

Check link for instructions how to change Maxthon to default browser http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/how-set-your-default-browser-windows-10-just-5-steps It does not work in the latest Insider build of Windows 10 14257 issued yesterday. Maxthon does not even show in the list, unfortunately. Windows 10 64-bit build 10525/Windows 10 Mobile build 10512

7twenty
Split the above posts from the bugfixes thread. 23 hours ago, No.1MaxthonFan said: It does not work in the latest Insider build of Windows 10 14257 issued yesterday. Then in Choose defaults for this program, are html/http etc all listed are selected? If not, then that would be why windows isn't showing it, as it doesn't know that Maxthon is able to handle those file types/protocols. If it's all correct, well... then it's just Windows playing silly buggers.
No.1MaxthonFan
I solved the problem by uninstalling 4.9.0.3000 and re-installing 4.9.0.2900 which was set as Default. I then installed 4.9.0.3000 over that and all is well. I tried all of your suggestions and none of them worked which is why I tried this method, which did work.
