The problem with squares instead of icons or smileys has been confirmed on some pages and it will be looked into ASAP. 2. I seem to reproduce the flickering issue here with v4.9.0.2800 3. May we see a screenshot on How much RAM is being used on your side? 4. This bug is known. It hasn't been fixed yet but we are working on it 5.About:gpu is a bug but with a low priority...It may get fixed a bit later

May we see a screenshot on How much RAM is being used on your side? I gave an example in the link below for the mx4.9.0.2600-beta version. For mx4.9.0.2900-beta version, it uses far more RAM. Please try to compare it with older versions: http://forum.maxthon.com/index.php?/topic/18311-winpc-followup-new-generation-maxthon-browser-let-me-down/&page=2#comment-95914 regards

Now Maxthon runs every tab, plugin, and extension into its own process to improve so that the whole web page or all your tabs don't crash if one thing crashes. At the same time, high RAM consumption can contribute to fast webpage loading and i believe this version has improved on page loading speed. Maxthon is using a lot of RAM for a good reason. However, it becomes bad when your RAM is constantly full and slowing down your system. In that case your compute configuration has to be considered: You may sacrifice some conveniences in order to save some RAM, by closing some tabs and unnecessary extensions... Anyway, our team is aware of the high RAM usage issue, and we'll do our best for some memory optimization.

I hope the RAM issue will be optimized because being light on RAM was what forced me to use Maxthon in the first place. I'm really sad to say but if Maxthon uses high RAM then I'll have change my browser :(
