Cogito Ergo Sum
Maxthon uses Webkit for Ultra and Trident for retro, so why would it use the Firefox flash plugin when firefox uses Gecko and is the worst when it comes to flash compatibility? I have windows 7 and all 3 versions of flash installed. I followed the instructions to remove the integrated flash from Maxthon portable but when i go to https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/in ultra mode it doesn't work, but in retro mode it works. I tried changing the UA to "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Windows NT 6.1; U; WOW64; IA64; en) AppleWebKit/599.0+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Maxthon/4.4.7.1000 Chrome/45.0.2454.85 Safari/537.36 OPR/31.0.1889.174 QupZilla/1.8.6", but it made no difference. 7twenty
Gecko has nothing to do with Flash. NPAPI is just the plugin system that is used. Why it works for MX instead of the PPAPI one i'm not really sure. At a guess it's to do with how the plugins are implemented in Maxthon rather than what renderer it uses. It's quite possible given that MX is still using a v30 blink core could be related. When it gets updated PPAPI versions of flash might be the required or preferred option. But that's just speculation. About your issue, when you say "it doesn't work" that means the latest version isn't detected? no version is detected? something else? Changing to UA generally is only required on other sites. Never had an issue with the About Flash page not working with the default one.

I have re-followed all the instructions in that thread. I have also un-installed, re-installed and re-installed Flash. I have changed the UA over and over to see if it would change something. Nothing works, except installing the activex and using Retro. One weird thing i've noticed is that the NPSWF32_18_0_0_232.dll file is in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash folder and the NPSWF64_18_0_0_232.dll file is in the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash folder. "it doesn't work" as in it's like i don't have flash installed. No ad, no flash version.
7twenty
Run through the troubleshooting thread. Most notably #7, 8, 9, 10 I'm thinking 8 is the issue (plugins not enabled), otherwise hopefully 10 will give some indication as to whether it's just that particular install having the issue or something more systemwide. That does look odd, but it's the same on my system - so looks like that's the way it is.

If Maxthon 5 should ever come out I wonder if your instructions on how to update flash will differ as it might be using pepflashplayer instead of the regular .dll

But Nitro doesn't discover the system Falsh plugins. I have both NPAPI and PPAPI and ActiveX plugins installed, but Nitro seems to be picky about filenames.<<SL>>

Haven't played with pepper flash, but will have a look and see what happens. Will update the thread once there is an official release... although Nitro does use it now. anyway, will get to it soon
