Irregular display

Maxthon has been a breath of fresh air and I have been using it without problems until a few days ago.

The displayed pages manifest all manner of irregularities from a Cursor which jumps around the page of it's own accord; page-text not appearing at all until the Cursor is moved over the place the text should be; alternating colors every second; the bottom bar is now in black instead of the usual XP color.

I have scanned using all available tools including Comodo Internet Security and Emsisoft Emergency Kit in both normal and Safe Mode, without any real issues appearing.

Most badly affected is my POP3 email account but even the Maxthon Homepage is affected as well as external websites.

I'm using v4.4.1.2001. Can you help to resolve this for me please?

That has now been carried out and I rebooted. It seemed at first to be better but then swapping sites, I can see there is still missing text until I glide the Cursor over the page and there is still a black bar at the bottom of the screen. Further, below this text-box after the Security Q&A box, only the letters 'enew de' can be seen.

I also notice that clicking on the upper left screen Maxthon 'smiling' icon box, does not show me any link towards update any of the Maxthon versions, otherwise I would have upgraded sooner.

Are there other actions you can suggest?

I also notice that clicking on the upper left screen Maxthon 'smiling' icon box, does not show me any link towards update any of the Maxthon versions, otherwise I would have upgraded sooner. That was a one off build from a different branch, and I think the new versions weren't detected in the updater because of it.

Most badly affected is my POP3 email accountRunning through Maxthon? Or a dedicated program?

Can you provide a screenshot of the issues (CTRL-F1 while running Maxthon)? Seems very odd and doesn't seem directly Maxthon related.

If you can run HijackThis select the first option and paste the log file it creates here.

The email account is via Maxthon. I tried another Browser and there were no problems at all but I favor Maxthon overall, so intend sticking with it.

Oddly, I have just carried out another intensive set of scans whilst in Safe Mode and deleted whatever was picked up and rebooted and lo & behold, all seems to work as before and I can also see the regular colors at the bottom of this screen and the words 'Renew code' below this box so I am hoping whatever caused these problems, have now been resolved.

Here's the log file you requested:

I may return to this thread, should the issue reappear but thank you for assistance in this matter thus far.

Good to see you got things working again.

Looking at the log, there's nothing that really stands out, but you do seem to have a lot of security focused programs, and at times they can cause you grief when they all battle each other. Not to mention a huge number of processes running which just eat up CPU time.

On the other hand if everything is working well, maybe just leave it alone.

If it does come back as requested above, a screenshot would be handy.

I spoke too soon! I ended up getting really frustrated tonight as not even this page would load completely, nor the homepage of Maxthon. After rebooting again, I can now only access pages properly (albeit, slowly) in Retro mode, so it seems to me to be an issue with the other option. There is still a black bar at the bottom of this screen and the Start button and other apps don't appear unless I pass the cursor over the blackness.

I also rebooted into System Restore but it hasn't really helped. I tried attaching a screen print of one site where the text was all over the place and some characters were missing altogether. When I cam back to this tab to attach the screen print, nothing on this page worked!

To be sure there wasn't a glitch with this laptop, I booted into Firefox and everything worked as it should.

Can you offer any further suggestions apart from working in Retro mode only?

Is there no other Maxthon version which isn't Cloud based ... in case that is a problem?

After typing this, I now cannot type the Security answer in the box below!!

After two reboots, I managed to get the security Q&A to work.

Read through the Troubleshooting guide.

Number 8 & 9 is where I would start. Get back to us and we'll see what happens.

The fact that other browsers are working ok, it looks like something within Maxthon is broken.

what? can you explain?

I use maxthon installed in my pc..

Download portable version http://dl.maxthon.com/mx4/maxthon_portable_4.4.3.4000.7z

Use it for a while with the guest account without logging into your profile. If the error no longer appears, log into your profile and sync everything except settings. Use a portable version as the main browser.

No problem here with both sites

In which mode do you try running these sites- Ultra or Retro?

Try to change your skin to default one.

Turn on Adhunter.

Can't confirm.

Do you have any extension installed ?

If you have- try to disable them.

You can try also this :

Try to logout from your Maxthon passport .

Or even better try portable Maxthon version-download, unzip, run without logging to your passport, don't change any settings and check again.

Let me know if it help

I think there is something in this website in conflict with maxthon

http://forum.gruppoesperti.it/viewforum.php?f=14

I don't think so...

I checked this page in VM on Windows XP many times and didn't noticed any issues.

So it could be problem with some of your 3rd part programs/software installed on your PC-like antivirus, firewall and so one.
