Ukrainian spell checking issue

Recommended Posts

There are problem with Ukrainian spell checking (reported here http://forum.maxthon.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=3198&fromuid=14593694 )

Here is instructions to check the problem:

install Ukrainian dictionary into Maxthon, activate it in the Settings and restart Maxthon;

2) open some site with text area and type (copy/paste with add and remove some spaces before/after words to provide spell checking) 3 type of text:

ukrainian text with mistakes or other (not-ukrainain) language based on Cyrillic script (for example russian: украинское правописание)

correct ukrainian text (for example: український правопис)

english (just like language based on Latin script) text (for example: Ukrainian orthography)

all 3 together:

украинское правописание

український правопис

Ukrainian orthography

then check spelling at the special service http://www.spellchecker.net/ukrainian_spell_checker.html :

As you see, only second string is correct. But Maxthon check spelling only in third string (based on Latin script). First and second string it exclude from checking, because didn't find mistakes in first one.

How I find to fix this problem. If rename ukrainain dictionary "uk-ua.mxdic" into "ru-ru.mxdic" and activate this pseudo-Russian in the Settings and restart Maxthon. The spell checking now find mistakes in first string, but third now shown as correct:

Developers Maxthon why you do not want to add Ukrainian spelling? Why do you dismiss this issue on the back burner? Add a new dictionary (take with Google Chrome browser) The same goes for your website. No Ukrainian version of the page from loading Maxthon. After all, if you translate everything for you opens the market of Ukraine (population 40 million). If you can not seem to translate into Ukrainian language website, send files and translate Ukrainian community of enthusiasts. Although they used to work and pay. For example prize for translation site. Or hire a professional Ukrainian translator.

Still faced with the fact that your browser has no preferred language settings for web-pages!! You can not select the browser to the website that the user wants to see the page in Ukrainian (not sure if the site is in Ukrainian) When you install the browser with the Ukrainian language search engines and browser bookmarks not for Ukrainian region! Google search engine in English, the search engine Yandex Russian, and must be in Ukrainian!

google.com.UA - yandex.UA

Website to check the browser language. It shows that the Russian language of the browser and will display the sites primarily in Russian! And should be in Ukrainian!

Ukrainian users waiting for several years.

You can add your own quick searches to use, you are not restricted to using the default search engines.

Menu > settings > Search. Simply add your search strings.
