  1. Windows build for the fast ring 10576 for PC's and 10581 for phones released today.

Uhm, waiting for the update, rejoined insider prog. Looking forward to media cast and more updates to Cortana. The fix for xbox app is a relief(no idea how having a 32bit game could add 30GB of ram usage.)

I seriously doubt I'll ever use the vmachine running inside a vmachine that was introduced last build and the  performance improvements for this release.

OT What's up with spell check in M4.4.8.1000, or is that just me?

  2. Should be the last time to have to restore 8 according to

"As you know, build 10549.4 had a bug that prevented upgrade to it from prior builds, so Insiders who wanted to try it out needed to flash back to 8.1. We have fixed this issue in our latest internal builds, and new builds greater than 10575 will have the fix." Gabe

  3. New update issued to the Windows Insider Fast Ring.  Build 10565.  Windows phone update later this week, Build 10559.

I'm still d/loading but I'm guessing we'll have to go through the entire update process we've done in the past with th2 releases. Why can't updates to these releases be as regular background updates without the install process? It's getting old....

OT. Just closed the tab accidentally and reopened to find all my pre-posted text in place once I focused on the text box! phew :) but nice

  4. @ntzphyr, they are releasing Build 10136 for Windows Phones tomorrow.  Thank heavens because a lot of apps just haven't worked for a long time and they are all the ones I use all the time.

I haven't had any problems that I haven't been able to find a workaround. I've even gotten software that M$ said doesn't work to work, Corsair Link for example. The exception is Asus's AI suite and that probably has more to do with Asus not even bothering updating it in anyway. But I can work without it, so no real loss as far as I'm concerned.

    Build 10136, great!

Out of curiosity, what progs are giving you problems?

Edit, just noticed you said it's for the phone....

  5. Not that excited about W10, though I have reserved my copy on both computers. I've played with a preview months back and have used a skinpack. Didn't enjoy it. I like Windows 8.1 better.

How can you like it better? You haven't even tried it. You tried an old Tech Preview loaded with bugs. Did you not read M$'s warning about it being a preview and not a finished product?

Perhaps you're judging your experience on a crappy "Skin pack" instead? Oh yeah, tell us how you feel about software thats not due for another 2 months!

  6. I am the only one who thinks that forcing these "adware" updates for older versions of Windows are not very fair to users who doesn't want to upgrade? They only affect the user expierence and PC performance, their information value equels almost to zero. The user doesn't need them. In my eyes it's only a marketing strategy how to quickly get big amount of users to the new system.

Adware updates? Where do you see anything in Win10 about adware? No one is forcing you to do anything. You don't want to update, don't. But you'll be losing out. Not only does win10 bring a lot of new visible features, it brings a lot of optimizations under the hood  too.

Have you tried win10? If not, why don't you keep your comments to something you actually know about. And if you have you are aware that win10 is still in beta(actually not even yet), so you are basing your comments on software that isn't even complete.

  7. I just had one other small thing, there seems to be no share with Pinterest button for Maxthon, but im guessing thats a pinterest issue and not maxthon or?

No I'm afraid there isn't, the best you can do is to add

    " javascript:void((function(){var e=document.createElement('script');e.setAttribute('type','text/javascript');e.setAttribute('charset','UTF-8');e.setAttribute('src','http://assets.pinterest.com/js/pinmarklet.js?r='+Math.random()*99999999);document.body.appendChild(e)})());       " (no parenthesis)

as a favorite and name it Pin It.

Clicking the "Pin It" favorite while on a site will open an overlay so you can add it to a new tab where you can place the image to a board. Unfortunately it works from the upper fav bar or fav button next to the address bar and NOT from the side bar.

  8. Yes, it sure is temperamental.  Had a problem with it yesterday evening, but seems to be OK today.  Must be a female.   :mdr:

Boy you got some.... I'm sure Ody won't see this!  :titter:

  9. so what the problem was no idea - on the bad build Spartan opened - showed the front blue screen for a second or so and then closed down

Edge(spartan) is temperamental at best at this point.

But it does open "Last Tabs" automatically!!!!!:top:

  10. Windows update just sent me the subscription form for the the free windows 10 upgrade. (was in my systray)

Join the club ody, I don't think you'll be disappointed in any way!

Just be prepared for a rather long d/l (depending on your connection) and another hour or so for it to install.

  11. well i went back a version and then updated back to 10130 and spartan is still not working - so downloaded the iso and did an over install and again its not helped - so looks like a clean install later - no big deal its only a test laptop

Try about:flags maybe your using an older machine?

Edit: Edge is really light on resources but it isn't the most stable even for simple tasks.

  12. Looks like Newegg just jumped the gun.  The date is debateable though.

It hasn't been removed, looks valid to me!

and we haven't even seen the rtm yet

Edit: I can't like your posts!

  13. Here's one thing I'm having trouble digesting. M$ clearly stated that win10 would be free, for the first year. That's all I've ever heard from M$(oh, and those with pirated copies will have to purchhase), except from blogs and sites like engadget and theverge(well, I guess everyone). They seem to be leading people on about how Win10 will be completely free.

Yeah, what I want is a google approach and have it supported by ads!

Larry, don't type, speak your search for apps. Well maybe not yet....but it's supposed to be coming! :)

  14. same for 10 i guess - some change for the sake of it is not needed

That's just the point, it was needed to accommodate the new devices, tablets, phablets and phones. Ever try to navigate on a 10 inch tablet? Unless you're using a stylus it was near impossible. Try tapping a favorite on the menu, if you tap too hard, you're finger will hit 2 of them, if you tap too lightly so only a small part of your finger hits the favorite, you probably haven't tapped hard enough to activate it. The new UI facilitates the task immensely.  Windows 10 is an effort to combine elements of win8 and win7 and frankly I think they have pretty much nailed it, and it isn't even final. The menu has improved with each iteration, becoming more flexible and customizable. I find it really hard to believe you can't configure it to your liking. On the other hand, you are you.

Cortana might not be of use to you but I doubt M$ was building it just for you anyway. I can see it being a very helpful tool for business people.

From what I've seen win10 also brings many improvements for IT profesionals

One of the things I've been waiting for with great anticipation is directx12 which promises improvement in graphics. I think I read someplace that it will allow using different graphic cards in sli(or maybe just on the same system), although this could have been me reading something into what I read(or maybe just being wishful) :)

I'm sure I'll be one of the first to d/l the ISO in late June. Hehe, can't wait!

  15. start bar? do you mean start menu - have looked - prefer classic shell - waiting for startisback

Please let me know how you like startisback when you get it!

  16. What the hell?! They have removed that nice option to resize the Start menu! It was the only thing which made sense… And everything is now even more white than ever before. The only good thing is that they have removed ugly red and purple flashing transitions from installation.

Like No1, my menu is resizable across about %70 of monitor and %90 horizontal.

No idea about what you are referring to when you mention "more white than ever"

My camera hasn't worked with Camera app for these last 2 builds, although I was able to install Logitec Camera Controller.  I'm hoping they are planning on using the same app as on the phone, it would be a great improvement!

  17. I don't know about anyone else, but I've submitted feedback about something being broken and within days, an update came through that fixed it.

I had the exact same experience for one problem I submitted, but given how long it took me to report it I'm more inclined to believe others had reported it before and my timing was more coincidental.   :titter:

There is only one control panel now and it's the new style one. No more Win7 style available....

Actually the old control panel is still there in its entirety, check File explorer.

I have no idea if they plan to keep it as it is or eventually have the new CP incorporate everything that was in the old but my guess is that the old CP will become totally integrated, simpler when using a touch screen. Win10 is meant to bring a similar experience to all users, whether on a phone, tablet or pc.

I do know that when Cortana was introduced by M$ she was much more capable than she is in the newest Tech Previews. Right now she seems to be mostly delegated to search but plans are for her to be far more helpful by opening programs directly, taking notation, etc., all things she could do when introduced.
