I do not belong to the staff, I'm just a simple user.

The best thing is that you ask your questions in the forum itself, so someone else can read them and also answer them.

Even so, a few days ago, I made this comment on the thread of another issue, it

  1. I am frequently losing Maxthon History when there is a blue screen or a freeze that necessitates a power button shutdown. I get a message next session that says "History database is destroyed. Do you wish to rebuild it?" I click Yes, but I never see any evidence the rebuilding took place. This last time, I had both Maxthon and Firefox open when a blue screen hit. I lost my Maxthon History since April 19, but I lost no Firefox History. I once lost after a crash the icons on my about:last entries and my bookmarks. Is there anything I can do to get my History back? The Online Histo
  2. In C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\MaxthonCrashData I actually have 3.83 MB worth of data. I imagine I'll need multiple zips. So where do you want me to send it and how?
  3. Do you want me to send my crash data? If so, please tell me precisely what to do.
  4. Thank you for your response. I've had this problem with several freezes leading to power button shutdowns lately. Usually I would have also have Firefox open. I get messages about destruction of data from Maxthon, but I'm not aware the power button shutdowns have done any harm to my Firefox data. To me it suggests a vulnerability in Maxthon that needs attention.
  5. Thank you for your responses, BugMiss006 and 7twenty. Which files do you refer to here? What do you mean by MX accessing it?
  6. Thank you very much. It did restore my bookmark icons and a smattering of the about:last icons. That will be a help to me.
  7. I reinstalled Maxthon and now it is once again gathering new icons. I'd still like to get back the icons for my bookmarks, history and about:last, however. My specs: Computer: DELL Dimension 2400 CPU: Intel Pentium 4-2667 (Northwood, D1) 2666 MHz (20.00x133.3) @ 2658 MHz (20.00x132.9) Motherboard: DELL 0G1548 Chipset: Intel 845GEV (Brookdale-GEV) + ICH4 Memory: 2048 MBytes @ 166 MHz, 2.5-3-3-7 - 1024 MB PC3200 DDR-SDRAM - Kingston K - 1024 MB PC3200 DDR-SDRAM - Kingston K Graphics: Intel 8
  8. I had another freeze forcing a power button shutdown. I got the message you see in the first screenshot saying my SiteIcon database is destroyed and offering to rebuild it. Several times I clicked on "Yes", and I saw what looked like an operation that flashed on my screen but disappeared before completion. And indeed the rebuilding did not happen. In the second screenshot you can see what I ended with; both files had the same time originally. There's a little bitty 10KB SiteIcon.dat file and a big 60,452KB SiteIcon-20160914-032104-e2a0c257-d09a-4b78-a198-1dcad5b1e2b7.dat file that seems t
  9. Thank you. As I said, somebody in Maxthon knows about these files.
  10. Thank you, BugMiss006. I don't see anything helpful at that thread. Ody mentioned 7Twentyand Joemax. Could we bring this to their attention? Somewhere, deep within the Maxthon organization, I suppose, is someone who knows all about files like History-20160903-040544-23065e69-cb78-4e64-b89b-2aef8ef34606.dat and knows what to do with them. There has to be some such person, because how did these files in the Maxthon history come about in the first place? Just like one knows if one sees a turtle on a fence post, the turtle didn't put himself there. There was human intelligence behin
  11. Not too many days ago I had installed Zemana AntiLogger Premium to my system, and it was causing freezes that forced me to resort to power button shutdowns. I uninstalled the Zemana program, but twice I got messages from Maxthon telling me my History database was destroyed and offering to rebuild it. Both times I clicked "Yes". The rebuilding didn't seem to work. My History from between April 19 and September 3 was missing on about:history. I looked at my History folder for Maxthon, and it appeared to me that the file History-20160903-040544-23065e69-cb78-4e64-b89b-2aef8ef34606.dat should
  12. Thank you again for your help. I am inclined to be careful. I would like you to explain this some more before I proceed. What is the reason for renaming the folder and files? How do I utilize that method for finding out which file is corrupted? What can be done it is determined that a file is corrupted? I think before I do this, for safety's sake I would want to make a spare copy of the whole folder. I am showing you recent entries in that folder.
  13. I know some people wipe out their history databases, but I'm totally the opposite. I want to be able to type in a subject I remember reading about--maybe it seems more relevant now than at the time--and I want to see results from way back. Maybe I want to see where I bought something last time around. On about:history I see a missing gap between April 19 and June 21 of this year. Whether more farther back is missing, I don't know. Online History has the missing history from June 18, but prior to that I can find nothing else there going back to New Year's Eve. Before that, I quit looking.
  14. Than you, ody. What do I do once I bring those up? There is one recent day that's absent from my about:history that is chronicled on the online history. i tried to drag and drop from the latter to the former, but that didn't work. The amount of recent history that appears to be missing from the online history grids is actually greater than the amount missing from about:history. Since Maxthon is a cloud browser, i hoped the online grids would have it all saved.
  15. Restoring History Database.txt I was having serious problems on my computer today. I somehow hit the wrong key and Maxthon went crazy on me: it was loading a help page tab over and over, past a hundred times. I had to shut down that session. When I rebooted I had problems that led me to restore an image from June 17. I ultimately figured out my real problem was my computer wasn't recognizing my keyboard. When I finally got things normal again and brought up Maxthon, I got a window that telling me my History database had been destroyed. It showed some file path and asked me if I wanted to
  16. Thank you for this advice and for thank you for taking time to test my problem and for turning my file into a regular post. :O) Why wouldn't Maxthon give me a box to just type in text? I had to use the forum on Firefox because on Maxthon I couldn't even drop a file. I'll work on this as soon as possible and report back. I only have occasional backup images with Macrium Reflect that I load when necessary through Hiren's Boot CD. I'm sure I can still get ahold of a setup file for Maxthon from before they transitioned from lasttabs.dat and about:last to lasttabsa.dat and mx://last-visit
  17. Since updating to the beta update v., I am unable to bring forward my about:last page links after trying every trick I can imagine. I had a whole page full of links. I've always had Maxthon set on "Open on startup>Last Session". Maxthon has always been losing my about:last page links a lot after crashes and rough shutdowns. I've learned to overcome that by saving a copy of the lasttabs.dat file after a clean shutdown. Then later when Maxthon would lose my about:last links again, I would duplicate the saved copy to my external hard drive, rename it to lasttabs.dat, put it back
  18. Thank you for enabling my private messaging, ody.

Nonetheless, when I tried to respond to your p.m. with a p.m. of my own, it was immediately blocked by Maxthon with a box that said

"You have reached your posting limits. Please wait 24 hours and try again."

What kind of a private messaging system is that? (I know it's not your fault.)

I still don't know what I can do to get that thread opened back.

Maxthon is fading in and out on me: I've got a fair number of tabs up. I'm afraid I'm going to lose this Maxthon session at any time. I'm writing this on Firefox.

The http://fav.maxthon.com/api/fav/manager looks great. Thank you for pointing that out to me and the Favorites Manager as well. Favorites Manager is a mostly blank page for me. It does have the options of "Update site icons    Import/Export      Synchronize online     recover Favorites"    Are those useful in this situation?

7twenty said : "If the problem was that you accidentally deleted it, you can check the recycle bin in the favourites manager."

That sounds really good to me. (I haven't been able to get in touch with 7twenty.) I don't see a way to a recycle bin there. Can you help me on that?

  19. Thank you, ody. I don't see where you go to send a private message. I refreshed the tab and there is still no button or box for reply.

I was unable to post this in a box below your reply to me. "Submit Comment" didn't work.

your Pms are not enabled.. I enable them for you !

Thank you very much, 7twenty, for your intervention.

My matter is not quite yet resolved, but I find myself unable to reply at that thread. I am signed in to Maxthon Forum. See screenshot.

Not sure what is going on with you unable to post? if you can after 24 hrs, then there's something going on with post restrictions on your account which we can't fix at this stage. Will need to wait till monday.

About the issue - Favourites button > Favourites Manager, then in the bottom left it will show "recycle bin". Click that and it should show any links/folders deleted.

  21. Thank you very much, ody. You are always very helpful.

I can't understand why you are unable to post, there's nothing wrong with your profile, but I will check more carefuly...

send me a pm I'll try to help you

  22. I'm used to it. It happens with Firefox as well. I've been battling drug-resistant scabies, and as a result I'm stuck for now on the resource-poor computer whose specs are above. The Maxthon crashes tend to happen when the browser has been up a long time and has accumulated a great deal of memory usage. Also, the more tabs I have open, the more likely a crash. Crashes especially happen when I have multiple tabs loading and they're not able to load quickly. Do you want me to send the logs to Maxthon Help as well? I was using PeaZip. I got errors with the .zip and .7z formats. So I tried .tar.gz
