I just noticed that it works both in Ultra and Retro Modes.
Not only does that method work in Maxthon (win8.1), but also in Internet Explorer, and also, in Firefox.
I just tried my other laptop, where I just installed win 10, and the same thing worked with Maxthon AND, the new browser of win 10 (Edge).
Wonder why it did not work with you.
I'm really disappointed.
Wish I could help you further, body.

Hi all,
I just discovered, by wild chance, that I could zoom google maps in and out by double clicking mouse, left (zoom in) and right (zoom out), Ultra Mode.
Hope it'll work for you all.
Win 8.1 Maxthon 4.4.8.1000.
Hurraaaayyyy .....

I'm having the same problem.
Maxthon 4.4.8.1000, win 8.1 64.
Works in Retro though.
Also, 3D and compass don't work in Ultra mode either.
I re-install Maxthon, did not work.
I removed maxthon, then re-installed, still did not help.
Other browsers (MS ie11 and Firefox 42.0) are working OK with google maps mouse wheel zoom, 3D and compass without any problems.
Mousewheel doesnt works in google maps

It's working now with Maxthon 4.4.8.1000, Win 8.1.
It was not before. That's why I moved to the newest betas, up till 4.9.0.2800, along with some windows update, then my system started crashing. So, I just moved back to 4.4.8.1000, tried the zoom, and it works.
Not the compass/3D, though.
Amazing, isn't it??!!
