Thanks. It worked, but left me puzzled why the same addition in UIMain/main/skin.css did not work and still left the question where Main Menu was called. So did some further exploration and found several things:
1. The skin.css files were commented out in the css_list.css files in both UIMain.dat and UIHuge.dat. So they didn'load and so sisn't work. They do work when loaded.
2. I found that I was overlooking the fact that the toolbar flow is horizontal, left to right. Cosequently I didn't look far enough in UIMain/navbar/buttons_right.htm and missed where Main Menu is called from UIHuge.dat.

I have a problem doing a skin in MX5, 5.0.2.300. The goal is to reproduce the Under skin pattern fr om MX4. This pattern has the navbar at the top of the window and the tabbar second row.
I can easily move the tabbar in the layout sequence and remove the reserved space on the tabbar for the winControls (min/resyore, max, & closr). However I cannot establish reserved space on the navbar for the winControls. I have tried:

.navbar { padding-right: 120dip; }
but they do nothing to the navbarThe problem seems to be the Main Menu. I am trying to find where it is called to load. It's reference in UIMaun.dat's index.htm is commented out. I can't find any other call to load it, but it dues load and soes so following the loadinf of the winControls in the body of the UI.
Where is the call for Main Menu?? I want to make it move to the left of the winControls along with the navbar right end.

*.nxskin files are skin files (packaged file/folder hierarchies) which override the built-in ui design, Yes, they are the skin files which MX 3 & 4 (& 2 ???) supported. My "*.mx5skin" was just my recognition that it might be necessary to use a different extenbion for MX5 skin files. If not necessary, then don't do it. They will be distinguish in the description.
BTW *.mxskin files aren't limited to user-designed skins.
BTW: I also hope that when the skin Center is re-enabled that a function present in MX3 but lost in MX4 will return - the skin selecter SKIN_MENU and I asssume its companiob SKIN_LIST. Both of these are present in the MX5 Skin Center code and were also in the MX4 code. They are just hidden, I know there may be some background code needed to support thse functions, but do restore them.

Why don't you try the Translate fubction built into MX5. It works well for me (well as well as a computer translator can be wxpected to work.)

5.01 skins do work on 5.02 - they have changed the 0.dat and 1.dat name to UIHuge and UIMain.dat - caught me out

It is as simple as renaming the files, but I think you flipped the names: 0.dat > UIMain.dat and 1.dat > UIHuge/dat.
But be aware that things are chabging so things may not continue to work in later versions. [@tony I know you know this, but all don't.]

So you don't want your "just a web browser to log you into password protected sites? Passkeeper/MagicFill are just two names same function and they work perfectly for all but one web site where there is third-party validation that fails despite Passkeeper working correctly. Same problem in 4.9 but 4.5.7 works perfectly.
I agree that Infobox/Maxnote is mostly misguided, counter-productive/counter-intuitive. Its only damaged, though somewhat useful feature is bookmarks. Restoration of Bookmarks Manager would make the bookmarks functionality complete.
I agree that UUmail is useless for me.
So much for critique of Infobox/Maxnote.

I don't think you're missing anything except what was not said, that the dev team would fix bugs found and confirmed during the release, suspending the release at times when needed for significant fixes. This makes sense to me, although it means a longer wait. Don't worry, there will be bugs oeft to find; there always are in any software.
I am glad to see MaxthonJeff's post. It explains some of the delay.

It's the same as my Passport. I sent my pre-register EM address direct in PM.
I registered roughly 3 to 4 am (New York time) 6/15/2016 and my number was approximately 3886 and VIP-3.

I had no problem playing the video. But don't worry if you can't; it is mainly marketing; no real glimpses of MX5 are there that I can recognize. But it was nice marketing consistent with the the Pre-Registration UI theme.

Try the Skin,Center (bottom, left corner of the Main Menu) and select the defaullt skin or one of the other themes. Remember this skin is for the 4.4.x series of Maxthon. In that series any *.mxxskin file can be loaded by double click.

1. Build-in translator works with Google only, if you're not from China. YouDao and Baitu are useless for you if you don't understand hieroglyph.

This is problem, which can be fixed in a few minutes... if you know about this!
But if all what you did is just sat here and "used MX from MyIE", if your did not write any feedbak about your problems or write only "Does not work!", what are you waiting for?I agree with everything you said. The creator is from Russia and made it for his and other, likely Russian, users. He wouldn't know of problems without feedback. In my case I've tried Multitranslator, Bing Translator, and MS Translator addons and they all failed and still do.
BUT ... a big but ... the scripts Wilser and others have posted for bookmarlkets do work. I assume the addons use the same script, but something is wrong in all of them. Maxthon's translator works fine for me as it is. But like the Russion programmer and his native language, I use English as my native language. Thus Maxthon's use of Google is not problematic. Neither are Youdao or Baidu which I use at times to compare with Google's translations of the Chinese Forum.
So in the end, the scripts are sufficient and no more trouble than the addons to use. So I haven't pushed the authors do deal with the problems I encounter since I just don't encounter them using the scripts directly.
I do want to thak you for your contributions to this forum, particularly your series of bookmarklets and tutorials on making extensions.

We already have many extensions for translation (for example, MultuTranslator).Not quite: Google, Youdao, and Baidu translators. Beyond that any others ought to be implementable with bookmarklets, e.g., Bing (MS) Translator. I don't know if Yandex has a translator.

Anyone who wants to help will need to know what you did. If you edited the contents of the 0.dat file after you opened it with MxPacker, then your edits didn't do what you wanted. You'll need to try again.
I have not had any trouble installing a skin with a modified 0.dat file. I've done one myself (not posted) and there are Ultimate Chrome http://forum.maxthon.com/index.php?/topic/15750-ultimate-chrome-skin-32-for-maxthon-490x-07012016/&do=findComment&comment=85517
skins posted here which do work.
You just have to learn what works and what doesn't.
But to expect any help a lot more details than "it doesn't work" are necessary. But in addition you just need to learn by studying and experimenting.

It's also skinned as well as themed.
But I have a question for tony, Joemax, Wilser, etc. Note my pointer to the transparency in the navbar and tabs. This shows up in all of the built-in themes. Where is it defined? It is not present in the default theme but appears in the others and does not appear to be 100% transparent but slightly diffuse.
I've been searching but can't seem to locate the code. Anyone point me in the right direction???

Thank you, Yoyoako. I was aware of that and saw that you had done a 4.9 version on the China Forum, but I hesitated to just re-post here.
But some skin makers are beginning to post some of their 4.9 works.
I am waiting for *.mxskin file support to be implemented. That will be so much easier fore switching skins and will remain whenever the browser is updated.

You change it in the Download Manager's dialog when you download a file. The DM will retain the previous selection for subsequent downloads. It's always worked for me.
There's no setting for it other than the on-the-fly choice in the DM dialog.

You can't now unless you make your own skin. The Skin Center has not been enabled. They have promised to bring skins back. In the meantime you might find some dark MX5 skins on the Chinese Forum.
