leaks are ok on a system thats not connected to the network which is how i run them - anything that is on them thats suspect stays there until its formatted off
as and when an official update comes out i go back to the last official release by doing a clean install

looked at 10147 and it was solid but it was not happy with updates so gone back to 10130 which is good - i get a memory error when closing the pc - had it on 2 different pc's - not investigated - am assuming its just my copy

it looks solid to me - its on a system that i am not bothered about so no big deal - its a lot more ready for release than anything i have seen before
sure we will see it officially soon

10147 is out there - its getting nearer the finished article - install screens are different different - offered a choice of home or pro - not seen that before that i remember but not done a clean install for a while - not seen much else different so far

its working fine on a clean install of 10130
not 100% sure of the build path from start - i think it started with 10074 - maybe one earlier than that - its then updated through the builds - somewhere in there spartan had worked but stopped working - i did install 10125 so maybe that was the bad install
going back from 10130 to an earlier build did not help
so what the problem was no idea - on the bad build Spartan opened - showed the front blue screen for a second or so and then closed down

well i went back a version and then updated back to 10130 and spartan is still not working - so downloaded the iso and did an over install and again its not helped - so looks like a clean install later - no big deal its only a test laptop

each to their own obviously - i only use it on laptops so anything phone or tablet passes me by - fully appreciate it has to work ion all devices so maybe my take is too narrow - plus its an OS - i dont get hung up on it too deeply - its a means to an ends - a bit like the browser we use - as long as it does what i want then that will do - whats missing can usually be added - if not then move on

Cortana - will look - i dont need a personal assistant - whatever that is but will look - cannot see a use for me but - thats just me
startmenu - yes its just whats there - 8.1 start was a waste of space and whilst i can see 10 is improved it still seems poor to me - startisback was and is good on 8 but has not made it to 10 yet but classic shell is just as good - it suits me - things are where they should be so i dont have to re learn - microsoft are past masters at reinventing the wheel - why i have no idea - if it ain't broke - leave it alone
Spartan/Edge - no loss really - its always good to have another browser to fall back to so will get it working but it will not be used - again familiarity and what suits - Maxthon fits that 100% - its also why apart from minor detain my skin has not changed over the years - what i use is a play on one i did for MX2 - things are where i want them etc etc
same for 10 i guess - some change for the sake of it is not needed

not looked at Cortana - is that the speech thing - not seen the browser - Spartan? - it opens and shuts down - no idea if its a work in progress but would not use it anyway i think

10130 is downloading as i type this - i read it was in test but not that they had released it - see what it changes

that sounds to me to be a sledgehammer to crack a nut - i fully accept that the owner of the site has every right to put in place what they want
BUT
the site is there for the users and users are asking for and would like to run addons - surely the ones that Maxthon feel are not appropriate can be specifically blocked - other [harmless] ones allowed
its all very well creating what YOU want but if nobody visits for the reason the site is poor then your argument is self defeating
the middle ground would seem a positive approach

their themes are mostly basic and poor - there are far better ones for 8 and 8.1 that i am sure will be updated - Snowy being one of the better ones imo - 1st thing is get a final or fixed release and then dig with resource hacker or themebuilder

Yes, I know about this option, but I hope they will also add option to easily change the color of the windows header/background or some "night theme".
that will come with themes surely - not looked but i guess nobody has done any yet as too many things are a work in progress

So has everyone here using the previews been leaving feedback? I've left a few, mostly just little things like the start search situation which has since been neatened up.
i go back a long way with Microsoft - i was a beta tester for a couple of earlier OS's - was via someone who worked for them - before they had testing programs like this one
it was a complete waste of time - all they wanted testers to do was rubber stamp their ideas - i dont remember one suggestion ever being implemented - they were completely blinkered - i would doubt if its changed - if you wanted something other than what they wanted to give you then you had to resolve it yourself
having just typed that and read it back i could substitute Maxthon for Microsoft - they come from the same stable it seems

@Zugi - thanks - am just messing - its on a test laptop - will look at that and do an update that way if it shows - starting clean is not a problem as all there is on the laptop is 10 and a couple of other bits - aero and a start button program

thanks - i have the other site - or one where its available - downloading now - want a clean install as 74 had problems with my network so hoping this will solve it

no - no and NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - wrong in all ways - english spoken as a second language is great to listen to - it adds something
its no worse than regional accents - they speak english in Glasgow but i cannot understand it no more that they can understand me if i choose to add a broad accent so maybe i/they need one of these

had not seen the release - will see if its there when i get to the laptop - its in the office which i dont get into much these days
