Sorry to say this @MaxthonJeff, but from what you've said in the video, it seems you are not trying to develop the best browser for people anymore, you are simply making this a playground for crypto schemes. I've spend 30522 hours using Maxthon (that's almost 3.5years of real time) over the past few years. Started using it since the era of MyIE2 actually. But in the past years the development cycle of MX has slowed down to almost a full stop. Simple bugs persist tens of version and most requested features and functionalities are ignored. There is no innovation, no interest in upping the security, compatibility or speed of the browser anymore and now, by introducing even more unneeded gadgets,tools, wallets and protocols to MX6 coupled with using "heavily customized core" you are again sinking into the depths of unamageable dependencies, that will only slow down the browser and annoy the users. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE maxthon. As i've said above, i've been loyal to maxthon for well over a decade now. But you are simply ignoring what people want from you and that is costing you your users that are migrating over to Vivaldi, Brave and other similar browsers that actually care about opinions of their users and let them shape the browsers. You are a visionary, nobody can take that from you. But perhaps you should think about your users in the first place and create a product they want to use. And then, only then, make the bloatware something that can be added by plugins and not as a main feature. That's my five cents to the topic.

Hello! That sounds good, but you've said much the same for the last year, so that implies you've been repeatedly working on the 'then' current version, not releasing it & starting all over again when the next version was released! Since EVERY other browser (at least all the ones I've heard of) include the latest core not long after release, even the 'little ones', surely Maxthon can/should do the same? You always say the 'development team' are working on it, but even if the 'team' consisted of just one person, in the 15 months since v109 was released, they've had plenty of time to incorporated a newer core! In the past, Maxthon was first to market with pretty much all major browser innovations & that's why you built up such a dedicated following, but leaving the core so far behind (I assume just to keep the few Windows 7 & 8 users happy), is losing users, who have no choice but to change to another browser, as Maxthon is too old to be safe or compatible now! Luckily, I'm not yet one of them as the websites I goto are, at least currently, still working, but for how much longer!?

The VIP program and its levels, as well as its role in the alpha rollout, are maddeningly unclear. It would be nice to know: what the levels are; whether the prices quoted are per major version, per year, or for the lifetime of use; when and how users can upgrade or downgrade service to a different VIP level; if "free now" means free during the alpha phase or free until some renewal comes due; and if alpha testers are locked into the levels they came in at for the duration of the alpha test or if they'll be able to upgrade/downgrade within the alpha phase. I also can't help wondering: Will all MX5 users be at one of the three VIP levels, or will there be non-VIP users? Will there be any non-paid use of MX5? If not, how's that going to affect the spread and promotion of MX5? Is there going to be premium access to customer service and tech support for VIP users? I'm not opposed to paying for Maxthon. I suggested it as a revenue-generating option years ago and am quite happy with some of the paid software I use. But if I find myself paying (especially for the multiple accounts I use for work and family!), my expectations for performance and bug-fixing are going to go up. ;)

I hope, when one fine day you actually do update the core, it will be to the current version at time. Today, 20 February 2024, v122 is released as stable, so 'hopefully', that's the one you've been working on!?

If you unluckily lose bookmarks, you can try to restore the bookmarks by using the backup file. 1. Open Maxthon 6 browser. 2. Open the installation path, for example, D:\Users\lenovo\AppData\Local\Maxthon\ 3. Open the folder "User Data" under the folder "Maxthon" 3. Find the account folder you'd like to restore data, such as "Default" 4. Under the folder "Default," you can find and open the folder "Backups" > "BookMarks" 5. Choose a backup file, copy it, then paste it to your account folder, such as "Default" 7. Rename the backup file as "Bookmarks," no file suffix required; delete the previous file "Bookmarks." 8. Restart the browser.

"I created maxthon to please myself in the first place"... now you made me sad. With a single superficial sentence you wrote off all the years I've promoted maxthon left and right to a simple "I don't care about the users, all I care about is myself". You had chance here to say something that would bring the community together, instead you did this. You know, I've defended Maxthon when it didn't work properly in MX3, I've defended Maxthon when it cheated in html5 test and I've spent countless hours arguing with Niels Leenheer about whether it's fair to simply remove maxthon from all the test results, I've defended Maxthon all the way until now when it came to every tough decision, every misstep when there were Nitro tryouts and unfunctional mobile browser versions, I did it all because of loyality and belief that Maxthon was different because you guys cared. But I guess I was wrong. And to mention the embracing of new technology and new ideas. Maxthon didn't innovate or bring new technology in years unfortunately. It became stale and outdated, so if embracing innovation is your goal, you have unfortunately failed. I wish you good luck with pleasing yourself, because you have lost me.

There are a couple of days left before the gold is written off. It's a shame that turning RATING into Gold didn't make sense. And it’s even more unfortunate that they refused to return the Maxton LEVEL. They stole from us what we had saved for years (since 2013)! This is unfair! And now they are forced to write off all the gold for the dubious Maxton Membership in order to have the latest beta version... Why do I need raw versions of the browser, and at my own expense (paying in gold)??? The gold option was a dead end. Once again I ASK you to return the Maxton LEVEL and continue the experiments as usual!

I find it weird that the default user agent is set to chrome 122 while the chromium core is still at 109... by default UA should reflect the actual chromium version and devs should do more frequent and regular core updates. The last time Maxthon updated its chromium core was in v7.0.2.2000, it'as been almost a full year now. I 've been using MyIE then Maxthon for years, but I've switched to Vivaldi as my main browser for now. I hope the devs can fix their roadmap priorities, security patches should be at the top of your list imo.

Who still waiting for Side bar and the Downloader of mx5 ??

As for me, I still want to retain the Features: Sidebar Status Bar (Especially System Info for Up & Down Speeds) Night Mode (Possibly Improve) Developer Tools Resource Sniffer (Especially! Barely used but helps BIG time) Snap (Frequently used. Useful at all times). Lastly... Gmail Notifier Extension (Not sure if Chrome has a similar/better alternative but this is very useful to me) I'd probably still stick to Maxthon as my all around browser no matter the changes. It carries most of my browsing data and I feel more secured with Passkeeper than Chrome's. One concern would be LivesOne & LivesToken. As Mx6 will support BSV, LivesOne will probably be left out. Hope the feature is still the same, Reward for Browsing, but please, no eating away CPU usage. Browsers already consume a large amount of RAM. Don't make it harder.

If you have predesigned template, you can make new sidebar addon in a few minutes. Addons for sidebar have minimum of functions, but you need minimum of efforts to make it. We have a lot of sidebar addons for Maxthon. We have many addons for the same websites (Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc.) with different icons and size of windows. I'm perfectionist: I want to see beautiful icons and I want to have ability to resize the sidebar window. So I looked what is inside these extensions. I do not know anything about programming. This is just my experience. Today we'll start learning how to make extensions for Maxthon. And we'll begin from simply addons for sidebar. Sidebar addons will be the basis for other our extensions. Are you ready? I want to show you how to make Google+ for MX sidebar. Why Google+? Because G+ was updated and now I use new desktop website for my extension, and if you like old mobile version of G+, you can make your own extension! Let's start! I think most users of Maxthon who have benefited from it going back many years are fully appreciative -- BUT, the fact remains that Vivaldi, Opera and others have developed through numerous stages and still have a usable downloadable product, without leaving users of the old version in the dust. That is what has happened with Max 6. If too much time goes by without some usable Max 6 version, I don't see why anyone would be sticking around...

AFAIR MX6 was announced to be alfa/beta released in a second half of February. It's only 4 days left. Is there is any news?

When you encounter a crash, if it can be reproduced by some specific steps: Then, It is highly appreciated that if you can tell us : the specific steps that cause the crash; The browser version you are using; provide us the crash data Ps: Two methods to get your crash data: You can press "Win + R" keyboard > run "%temp%" and press "Enter" > find the folder "MaxthonCrashData" > compress the folder and send it to us. You can also find it directly from the following path: C:\Users\#Your User ID#\AppData\Local\Temp\MaxthonCrashData. The whole complete MaxthonCrashDate folder will be highly appreciated instead of only certain .txt document in it.

Hi All, I am not too sure any of you still remember this nice little tool before the implementation of developer tool after MX4. ViewPage 3 is a great tool that actually extract all possible resources within the whole page. It is so useful I have tried different ways to make it works for MX4 and now MX5. Currently I only modified to works with the Image and Link listing options, which is quite obvious that the built-in from MX4 and MX5 does not make it up for my usage. So, here it is, a modified and slightly more useful of ViewPage 3 for my own use... or yours? You decide. I only include it as zip because I need to modify the contents of the scripts from time to time if I ever feels like adding new features or fixing bugs for upcoming MX version upgrade, so I left it in a folder so updating makes easy, and if you're experience with HTML5 and Javascript, you can even make it more powerful and advance than it currently is. Please follow instruction below to get the ViewPage 3 into your MX5. 1. Find the User's Addon folder. <Maxthon Root>\UserData\Users\<Your email or Username>\Addons 2. Extract the content of the zip file inside the folder. In this end it should looks like link below... it must be a folder inside Addons <Maxthon Root>\UserData\Users\<Your email or Username>\Addons\ViewPage3 3. Startup and login to your MX5 or reboot if you has not closed before. 3.a. To make sure it is running, go to Extension Manager (right-click Sidebar > Extension Manager, or Menu > Extensions > Others) 3.b. Tick Enable if it is not. (Its location should be Tool bar) 4. Open a webpage where you need to extract tons of links or images from. 5. Click on the small little "earth-like" icon. It shall popup a Window. Enjoy! Note: What I have enhanced from the original version. - Add: Copy selected links to Clipboard. - Add: Text/Href filter can press Enter to work, do not need to click on Filter button (link). Bookmarks are grouped together by category, and you get opportunity to share your collections for your friends. For most users Symbaloo is just alternative to standard new tab. But with Symbaloo you can sync your data between different browsers and for some categories of users (lecturers and students) share function is very useful. There are Symbaloo expansion for almost all browsers. Of course, except Maxthon. This is a basic troubleshooting guide for users to try and find the cause of issues. Following the guide should allow you to hopefully fix the issue, or at least figure out the source that is causing it so that when posting on the forum users have more information available to offer help. 1 / Are you running the latest version of Maxthon? Check the forum for any new releases and update/reinstall. Most issues will generally be resolved in new builds, or just by the reinstall process. Also ensure you have the latest version of Flash and any other plugins you might be using. If an update/reinstall doesn't work, try doing a clean install which removes all userdata during the uninstall process. Your userdata will be restored if you are using a Maxthon Passport. If you're using a local/guest account, make sure you have a backup of your Maxthon userdata folder (Open an explorer window and type the following into the address bar: %appdata%\Maxthon3\Users\guest). Keep a copy this folder, then copy it back once you have reinstalled. 2 / Do a forum search. Chances are someone has had the issue before you and a fix has been found. If you find a solution that works, reply in the thread so others know that it has worked for other users as well. 3 / Try changing to Retro Mode. A great feature of Maxthon that allows you to view a site using the Internet Explorer renderer in case the site has issues with Webkit/Blink. Main Menu > Switch Browser Core, or press the lightning button on the right of the address bar so it changes to a broken blue page. 4 / Connection error? (eg. unable to resolve domain name or can't connect error) try with another browser to see if it also has the same issue. Use a site like http://isup.me to check that the site is in fact online. Also check there isn't a problem with your DNS servers. You can try testing with Google (8.8.8.8) or OpenDNS (208.67.222.220) servers. And always provide a link to the site/page in question when posting so others can check to see if the problem is more widespread. 5 / Try disabling AdBlock Plus. Sometimes overly aggressive blocking can cause issues on a site. If this fixes the problem some of your rules may need to be revised. Post on the forum and someone should be able to offer a solution. 6 / Try deleting/clearing cookies There might be a corrupt or invalid cookie causing the problem. Deleting them will ensure new ones are created. Option 1: (Ctrl-Shift-Del) or from the Main Menu > Clear Browsing Data menu option, or toolbar. [Images here] Option 2: To delete cookies for only one site you can use the Developer Tools. [Images here] Option 3: You can also use the following 3rd party programs: - CookieSpy which can show Maxthon cookies, and DB Browser for SQLite which offer more advanced means of working with cookies. [More details here] NOTE: Only option 1 is recommended. Options 2 & 3 are only for advanced users. 7 / Try disabling all extensions. If disabling extensions fixes the problem then one of your extensions is causing the problem. Enable them one by one testing after each until you find the one causing the problem. 8 / Check the advanced options. Ensure you are using the default User Agent (should be unchecked), check with GPU acceleration on/off, and ensure that "Allow all sites to run plug-ins is enabled" if trying to troubleshoot a plugin related problem. These can be found by going to Main Menu > Settings > Advanced. If the above steps don't resolve the issue, follow the next steps which should help determine if the problem is with Maxthon, your account settings or system related and hopefully lead to the cause of the problem. 9 / Sign out of your Maxthon Passport. Check to see if the same problem still occurs. If not signing in fixes the problem, then it's more than likely a settings related issue. Disable all sync options from the menu then enable them one by one, testing for the problem until it occurs again. Once you know which settings are causing the issue make a post on the forum with the details for further assistance. 10 / Test with Maxthon Portable. Download & extract to any folder, run, check for the issue. DO NOT SIGN IN to your Maxthon Passport account. If this works then it's more than likely related to your install. Doing a clean install should fix the problem. If going through the above doesn't fix the problem, then start a thread on the forum to see if someone can help out. Offer as much information as you can, especially the following: - Any error messages; - What version of Maxthon and operating system you are running; - Any out of the ordinary programs (network related like firewalls, or downloaders like Orbit); - What you have tried to fix/find out what the issue was. Otherwise people will offer solutions that you may have already done; - And if applicable link some screenshots if it will make things easier for others to understand the problem. The best case scenario is you will find and fix the issue without having to wait hours or days for a response on the forum. At minimum you will narrow in on the issue allowing others to offer a quicker and more appropriate response for the problem. And you may learn something as well :-) Happy troubleshooting!
