Sorry to say this @MaxthonJeff, but from what you've said in the video, it seems you are not trying to develop the best browser for people anymore, you are simply making this a playground for crypto schemes. I've spend 30522 hours using Maxthon (that's almost 3.5years of real time) over the past few years. Started using it since the era of MyIE2 actually. But in the past years the development cycle of MX has slowed down to almost a full stop. Simple bugs persist tens of version and most requested features and functionalities are ignored. There is no innovation, no interest in upping the security, compatibility or speed of the browser anymore and now, by introducing even more unneeded gadgets,tools, wallets and protocols to MX6 coupled with using "heavily customized core" you are again sinking into the depths of unamageable dependencies, that will only slow down the browser and annoy the users. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE maxthon. As i've said above, i've been loyal to maxthon for well over a decade now. But you are simply ignoring what people want from you and that is costing you your users that are migrating over to Vivaldi, Brave and other similar browsers that actually care about opinions of their users and let them shape the browsers. You are a visionary, nobody can take that from you. But perhaps you should think about your users in the first place and create a product they want to use. And then, only then, make the bloatware something that can be added by plugins and not as a main feature. That's my five cents to the topic.

Hello! That sounds good, but you've said much the same for the last year, so that implies you've been repeatedly working on the 'then' current version, not releasing it & starting all over again when the next version was released! Since EVERY other browser (at least all the ones I've heard of) include the latest core not long after release, even the 'little ones', surely Maxthon can/should do the same? You always say the 'development team' are working on it, but even if the 'team' consisted of just one person, in the 15 months since v109 was released, they've had plenty of time to incorporated a newer core! In the past, Maxthon was first to market with pretty much all major browser innovations & that's why you built up such a dedicated following, but leaving the core so far behind (I assume just to keep the few Windows 7 & 8 users happy), is losing users, who have no choice but to change to another browser, as Maxthon is too old to be safe or compatible now! Luckily, I'm not yet one of them as the websites I goto are, at least currently, still working, but for how much longer!?

Hello! What's changed between 7.1.8.6600 & 7.1.8.6601? Obviously not Chromium 109 to something newer! I hope, when one fine day you actually do update the core, it will be to the current version at time. Today, 20 February 2024, v122 is released as stable, so 'hopefully', that's the one you've been working on!?

If you unluckily lose bookmarks, you can try to restore the bookmarks by using the backup file. 1. Open Maxthon 6 browser. 2. Find the account folder you'd like to restore data, such as "Default" 4. Under the folder "Default," you can find and open the folder "Backups" > "BookMarks" 5. Choose a backup file, copy it, then paste it to your account folder, such as "Default" 7. Rename the backup file as "Bookmarks," no file suffix required; delete the previous file "Bookmarks." 8. Restart the browser.

"I created maxthon to please myself in the first place"... now you made me sad. With a single superficial sentence you wrote off all the years I've promoted maxthon left and right to a simple "I don't care about the users, all I care about is myself". You had chance here to say something that would bring the community together, instead you did this. You know, I've defended Maxthon when it didn't work properly in MX3, I've defended Maxthon when it cheated in html5 test and I've spent countless hours arguing with Niels Leenheer about whether it's fair to simply remove maxthon from all the test results, I've defended Maxthon all the way until now when it came to every tough decision, every misstep when there were Nitro tryouts and unfunctional mobile browser versions, I did it all because of loyality and belief that Maxthon was different because you guys cared. But I guess I was wrong. And to mention the embracing of new technology and new ideas. Maxthon didn't innovate or bring new technology in years unfortunately. It became stale and outdated, so if embracing innovation is your goal, you have unfortunately failed. I wish you good luck with pleasing yourself, because you have lost me.

Have you already updated the kernel? Or are you not working on it at all? I believe that this is one of the top priorities.

There are a couple of days left before the gold is written off. It's a shame that turning RATING into Gold didn't make sense. And it’s even more unfortunate that they refused to return the Maxton LEVEL. They stole from us what we had saved for years (since 2013)! This is unfair! And now they are forced to write off all the gold for the dubious Maxton Membership in order to have the latest beta version... Why do I need raw versions of the browser, and at my own expense (paying in gold)??? The gold option was a dead end. Once again I ASK you to return the Maxton LEVEL and continue the experiments as usual!

I find it weird that the default user agent is set to chrome 122 while the chromium core is still at 109... by default UA should reflect the actual chromium version and devs should do more frequent and regular core updates. The last time Maxthon updated its chromium core was in v7.0.2.2000, it'as been almost a full year now. I 've been using MyIE then Maxthon for years, but I've switched to Vivaldi as my main browser for now. I hope the devs can fix their roadmap priorities, security patches should be at the top of your list imo.

Who still waiting for Side bar and the Downloader of mx5 ??

As for me, I still want to retain the Features: Sidebar Status Bar (Especially System Info for Up & Down Speeds) Night Mode (Possibly Improve) Developer Tools Resource Sniffer (Especially! Barely used but helps BIG time) Snap (Frequently used. Useful at all times). Lastly... Gmail Notifier Extension (Not sure if Chrome has a similar/better alternative but this is very useful to me) I'd probably still stick to Maxthon as my all around browser no matter the changes. It carries most of my browsing data and I feel more secured with Passkeeper than Chrome's. One concern would be LivesOne & LivesToken. As Mx6 will support BSV, LivesOne will probably be left out. Hope the feature is still the same, Reward for Browsing, but please, no eating away CPU usage. Browsers already consume a large amount of RAM. Don't make it harder.

I understand that adding experimental features to the browser is very interesting. But, in my opinion, first of all you need to try to update the kernel and make a normal, stable release. Beta versions have been going on for too long.

Yes they're working but not hard enough upgrading to the latest core must be their first and most priority just trying to fix bugs and adding unimportant features made Maxthon just another browser when alas it used to lead the competition

Hello. Thank you for the step-by-step explanation. But let me disagree with one point. I found backups and did exactly as you have scheduled, but the bookmarks still disappeared time after time. Item #1 "close the Maxthon 6 browser" is superfluous and because of it, the instructions will not work! The fact is, after my bookmarks disappeared, they were deleted from the cloud (synchronization). When I restored them from a backup, Maxthon checked at startup which version of bookmarks is more up-to-date, local or cloud, and each time again reset the local bookmarks! But if you restore the bookmark file while running Maxthon, and then restart Maxthon, then the local version is considered more up-to-date and is not erased!

I think most users of Maxthon who have benefited from it going back many years are fully appreciative -- BUT, the fact remains that Vivaldi, Opera and others have developed through numerous stages and still have a usable downloadable product, without leaving users of the old version in the dust. That is what has happened with Max 6. If too much time goes by without some usable Max 6 version, I don't see why anyone would be sticking around...

Hello! Didn't auto-update or alert me to the update, but after manually installing, when complete & I clicked the restart button, after a pause Windows prompted me for administration permission... Since installation was apparently complete, what was that for!? No surprises we're still on Chromium 109. In my previous post, I commented but didn't get a reply to: surely, from a developer point of view, the Chromium core is just a bunch of APIs, so to use a newer core, you just update the APIs!? It's not logical you'd start with Chromium browser source code & then make changes & add in all the Maxthon elements... Please confirm.

This clearly isn't a huge/major company developing this project, but 3 points I'd like to bring to your attention: -Turnaround for major vulnerability patches generally less than one week from upstream disclosure -Google Sync -On Windows 7 and up, Widevine CDM support for viewing DRM content If they can do it, so can you (Maxthon). Sorry, but I just don't believe you when you say Google aren't replying to you when you requested Widevine - obviously, even if they had a backlog, this has been ongoing for YEARS & you can't simply ignore it, Maxthon MUST have Widevine support. These people, who aren't well known, have it, so Maxthon, who are internationally known for over 20 years, certainly should have it too. Whatever the real reason for not having it, get over it as it's preventing anyone who wants to stream DRM content from using Maxthon. If a user can't use a browser for all web content, they'll simply change to another that does work. All you're doing here, not updating the core & being compatible, is lose ever more users!

This is an updated thread replacing the previous ones that have been archived. MX 7 and 6 only function on Windows 7 or later. Chrome 110 and later only function on Windows 10 and 11. Earlier versions of Windows will remain on Chrome 109. Chrome 110 and up function in the UA for all versions of Windows. From MX 7.1.8.7000 (March 2024) it is possible to change the User Agent in MX 7 using the traditional internal UA modifier/selector in Settings/Advanced/ Experiments. You can also use extensions from the chrome store. I personally use https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/user-agent-switcher-and m/bhchdcejhohfmigjafbampogmaanbfkg (recommended). There are lots of others. The Qupzilla browser is now obsolete and is no longer being developed. From December 2022 I have in incorporated Edge and Opera as standard. These UAs break Youtube Live Chat. Use standard Maxthon UA: just disable chosen UA extension in Extensions and reload tab. With Windows 11 the system has changed to User Agent Client Hints (UA-CH). Hello. Just some general questions regarding versions. 1. Why, in the "Release Notes" section of you website there isn't a specific menu item/page for MX7 (there is a unique place for MX6 and MX7)? Also, such separation should exist in this Forum. 2. So far (even if with some exceptions), WinPC MX releases ending by a "whole" thousand (e.g. 7.1.6.1000, 7.0.0.3000, 7.0.0.2000, 6.2.0.2000, etc.), were marked as "Official", but now V7.1.6.2000 is still a "Beta": how come? What are the release numbering criteria? 3. Why mixing Official and Beta versions in the same page? Wouldn't it be easier to have also a page for "Official only" or separate Betas from Officials? Thanks for optimized "save as image" function ? ? But dont understand what changes where made in "Mute" . The same useless "Mute site" with the right click menu. All you need to do is make CLICK (not right click) on microphone icon on tab and that mutes TAB (not site). Show me one situation where you need "mute site". "Tab mute" is waaay better. And if you add status bar (with possibility to add there zoom +/- and diff. tools) - MX6 will be #2 browser in the world (after mx5) To make it #1, all you need make maxnote old way. ( but "mute tab", "global mute" on status bar and "zoom" on status bar are more important for me personally)

Thanks for the clarification my friends. It’s not hard to comprehend. It’s actully a common sense in building good product. Facebook started as a mischief to rate college girls. Google started as an internal tool. You can not design a product to please everyone, but always a certain kind of people, starting from yourself. Back to topic, although not seen by most people, I believe blockchain can help us build a honest world ( I really mean it in my presentation) and also help users get back their data from companies. That’s why we will build MX6. But it does not mean we will abandon users who don’t care. MX6 will be faster, compatible with MX5 and more importantly, compatible with Chrome, which means no annoying ‘please change your browser’ message, and bring massive Chrome addons to Maxthon users.

Mobile version will be updated later. But don’t expect it comes with a lot of features because we don’t want it to be bloated. It may have some addons like ability, not finalized yet. Chrome store rule will not affect Maxthon features. We are considering to provide an additional store if we have resources to manage it.

And what about the mobile version of Maxton? Will there be new features for it? It would be good to have a sniffer, page translation and better night mode.

This will be optional? Will there be any way for any user to opt out of the whole bigcoinc, biddata, bigXXX related theme that has the browser built in? We will be able to "be free" to choose if we want such options BIGxxx?
