Great thread! I’ve been using Maxthon for a little while and love how lightweight and fast it is. Here are a few features and tips that have been particularly useful for me — plus some ideas I think could make it even better:
Dual-Core Engine
I really appreciate Maxthon’s U+M engine. The split between Trident and WebKit helps with compatibility for older sites and modern web apps at the same time.
Resource Sniffer
Using the built-in resource sniffer to download embedded media (like images and video) has saved me from having to use external downloaders. Just click the sniffer icon and filter what you need.
Built-in Ad Block
The ad blocking tool works well for most websites, but I found better performance when combining it with custom filter lists. It’s a great way to keep pages clean without installing another extension.
Split Screen
Split screen is a solid productivity hack. I often use it for research + note-taking on one tab, especially when planning travel content for my site (like desert safari guides).
Magic Fill (Password Manager)
This feature is super handy for auto-filling logins on travel booking sites or payment portals. One suggestion: allow users to save passwords in specific categories (work, travel, social) for better organization.
Offline Reading
The offline reading tool is great for saving articles and guides when travelling. I save a lot of my blog posts, including safari itineraries and tips, so I can read them even when I don’t have an internet connection.
Feature Request Idea:
It would be amazing if Maxthon introduced a “Tour Mode” designed for travelers — something that bundles offline reading, ad/scrip block, quick bookmarks, and travel-friendly themes (like a “desert dunes” or “oasis” look). This hypothetical mode could significantly enhance the browsing experience for those of us who create or consume travel content on the go.
