Maxthon 2.5.7 beta contains 3 major changes – addition of Mute Browser module, addition of URL Security module, and a new Passport Login Mechanism.

Mute Browser

Mute Browser is one of the most requested features lately. It is obvious how muting only the browser can be useful from time to time. To use this feature, right click the status bar, select Add or Remove Buttons, and select Mute to show the button. To mute browser sound just click the Mute button. Click the button again to restore browser sound.



New Passport Login Mechanism

Using Maxthon Passport can enhance privacy and security. But from time to time you may need to view just a webpage or two. Login to the Maxthon Passport may not be the most convenient.

With numerous feedbacks from the users, Maxthon 2.5.7 is considering a different login mechanism. Maxthon starts with share account and a floating login dialog. Users can login as in previous versions or just view some web pages without login.

Here please be reminded that without login to your passport account, any changes in settings or addition of favorites are not saved to your account but the shared account. Also please right click the menu bar, select Add or Remove Buttons, and click reset to replace the old "Switch User Account" command with the new "Account" command.






URL Security

As the gateway to the internet, browsers serve the first line of defense to malicious sites. To improve security of users, Maxthon gathers with支付宝, the biggest and most reputable online payment platform provider in China to provide additional URL security to users.

When a malicious site is visited, the web page will be blocked and replaced by a warning page. The address bar will also be highlighted to alert the user.

EDIT:i still cannot see icons that were created for the new features , including the floatbar ,the mute button, and the button of the video-viewing feature.

Add "Clear Clipboard" module

It will opposite "Copy Selected Text" module

and for clean clipboard when we don't want to paste any text in clipboard anymore

To translators, please be aware that the login dialog is built from HTML, this means that you cannot use regular formatting if you want a line to break or insert an extra space. Instead you will need to include the equivalent html tags into your translation.

It seems strange that the bookmark file is encrypted (it wasn't last time I checked) when using a shared account but not the MagicFill data. Even if you don't use a personal account this file should have some sort of protection.

so ok.. i login.. and check the remember pass and auto login.. so now... im surfin.. and i want to change user account..

but under the FILE menu > Switch User Account.. is disabled..

You need to reset your menu toolbar because that part of the UI has changed.

Right click on the toolbar, go to Customize, Toolbars, select Menu Bar and click Reset.

when you logged in your maxthon account / browser.. hope it will automatically be synced with your online favorites.. and online settings.. will be downloaded..
and any new changes in the settings.. will be uploaded automatically.. just a request.. if its possible..  anyway.. thanks.. maxdev.. more power!

Great. 3 new features and still no fix for the damn focus problem. I have no need for a mute button, I log-in automatically so I don't need the new passport login mechanism (though I can see it useable by those that login from several different locations) but I do need to use the browser, which after all is what it's all about in the first place. Too many bells and whistles in a browser that doesn't work properly.

Along another tack, with the addition of the new features also comes 2 new button icons- Mute Button and Account button. These now join the Maxthon Downloader and Split Screen buttons as not being available in most 3rd party skins. Now, one can assign an icon to any button in customize mode but what I don't have are actual icons to choose from for these buttons. Can someone post these icons for download from this forum so that we may use "official" icons for these buttons when we choose to use a skin that has not been updated to include these icons? Thanks.

Yeah, but since the focus bug has been reported many months ago, I'm wondering if the devs are even capable of fixing it at all. I really doubt it.

No! They were too busy implementing more and more features.
