This version contains a lot of changes, including the addition of online favorites, user account and default browser setting. Smooth scrolling is redesigned with configurable parameters. There are also fix to various problems.

Important - user account module is still in early stage and may not be stable
The user account of Maxthon 3.0.1 works in similar way to Maxthon 2.x. Registered users can login to use own account for storing of usage data including favorites, settings, internet cache, and cookies etc. Users not logged in will use a shared account. The current user data will be imported to user accounts when users logged in.

Major changes in 3.0.1 Alpha
1. Added user account for storing favorites, settings, internet cache, and cookies etc for each user individually
2. Added online favorites module. Edit of favorites will be supported in the next version;
3. Redesigned smooth scrolling which supports scroll acceleration and configurable parameters;
4. Added default browser option under “customize…” of new installer;
5. New online update program provides more information and has more friendly interface;
6. Added substitute blank page with testing version information

Configure Smooth Scrolling
Open C:\Program Files\Maxthon3\Temp\MxWebkit\WKSetting.ini with notepad and add the followings under [WebkitCore]:
ScrollPageSmoothly=true/false (true=use smooth scrolling)
WheelBeginDumping=0~100 (smoothness on scrolling start)
WheelEndDumping=0~100 (smoothness on scrolling stop)
WheelAccel=0~450 (scrolling acceleration)
WheelStep=0~300 (normal scrolling height)

when i set maxthon full screen i can't see taskbar on automatic hide bar option. i'm using xp sp3.

Bug: Change folder of favorite's items don't work.

Login/Userinfo window is on top so menus on the left such as Language expands to the right but not on focus.  System is XPSP3. (Edit: After a restart it looks ok now)

On Windows 7, it works fine.

FYI when in any text entry box on any web page (including this form), on any other browser I can rapidly move across one word at a time. on Maxthon 3.0.1.2 Alpha, it changes tabs instead of scrolls through the text. This is a big problem for anyone who does a lot of e.g. web messaging.

Abc meant the option during the setup, not an option in M3 itself.

That's only the config.ini file found in each account folder in "MaxthonData", no interface to modify the settings there yet.

for people who do not use a login for using the web browser,please don't show the extended menu , and instead, put an item, just like what maxthon2 has .
you can arrange it this way:if the web browser noticed that we used this feature, it will show it like what it is now, otherwise, it will show it like on maxthon2 .

There is a substantial difference in the maximum supported url length for both used engine types.

Where the Trident engine is limited to 500 bytes, Webkit has no problem handling the following bookmarklet.

Sadly it cannot be added as Maxthon3 will truncate it at 1024

No he didn't say that,

He said Default browser setting as in "Default Browser" setting. Not that there suddenly is a Default Settings  dialog or something... subtle difference
