As I mentioned in the 2.5.6 Beta thread, issues with RoboForm and LogMeIn have kept me from using the last couple of versions on a day-to-day basis, but it's great to be back up-to-date with 2.5.6.
Getting in a week of real, honest day-to-day usage, I'm having to adjust to the microdelays in some things. The 2.5.x releases take a little longer to use in some respects. For one thing, I notice I can no longer interact with a page that still has major elements loading — probably a result of the antifreeze tech and also probably a good thing for my own browsing, but it takes some getting used to, especially when I'm working on a page with forms that takes a long time to load in. (I have a bad habit of clicking on a field and starting typing.)
It's a petty quibble — but maybe worth mentioning, since I haven't seen anyone else make note of it.
Float Button/FloatBar:
Given the new look the Float Button, I notice that many of us are starting to call it the FloatBar (a la
that beloved plugin of yore). That makes sense to me, but I wonder if it's going to get renamed in Maxthon Setup Center to make the name change official?
While the new design for the Float Button is cause for celebration, we did lose some key features of previous versions:
- File Sniffer
- "Save As..." for defining the save path and file name on the fly
- Block with AdHunter
- Hide in this tab (to suppress the Float Button in a specific tab)
Admittedly, the last one has been gone for several releases, but I
still miss it. It was very handy when browsing image-heavy pages where you didn't want to see the Float Button all the time.
I've been using 2.5.6.350 for a couple of days, and I'm already missing the File Sniffer just as much as the old "Hide in Tab" option. Is there any chance these features will be returning?
Like UFO and Picimako, I'd love to see some customizability in the FloatBar. The original FerreoRoche plugin was customizable (at least in later versions) and allowed users to put less-often-used commands in submenus or remove them entirely. I can imagine pinning some image-related plugins to the FloatBar would be useful, too.
Hmm — come to think of it, why isn't the File Sniffer button available in Customize mode, so we can put one wherever we like? If that were the case, and if the FloatBar were customizable, we'd be able to restore most all of the lost functions listed above on our own — except, of course, for that "Hide in This Tab" function that no one but me seems to miss.

Also I feel the paste button (what appears when mouse hovered over an input box) a little bit unnecessary.
well, it could be replaced with "paste and go" instead . this way it will become a little more handy.
That could be dangerous, though, as it would allow users to accidentally paste the contents of their clipboard into a field and submit a form with a single click.
