Maxthon 2.5.6 Beta includes 2 major changes – the addition of Video Popup and redesign of Float Button. Video Popup detaches video in web page to a separate video window for more convenient watching. Float Button is redesigned to improve convenience and provide more functions.

Video Popup

This is the same video feature in Maxthon Video Popup v9 testing version currently under testing. Maxthon 2.5.6 Beta will replace Maxthon Video Popup v9 to continue the testing of the Video Popup feature.


Float Button

Float Button is a classic feature of Maxthon. When mouse hover images, flash, videos, Float Button will appear to provide relevant functions like save, zoom, add to adhunter etc.

The redesigned Float Button, or Float Bar, works also for selected text. It is context sensitive and provides different functions when mouse hover different type of contents.

On selected text
- click “Magnifying Glass” icon to search with default search engine like drag and drop
- click “Translate” icon to translate selected text with Google Translate in a new tab
- click “Copy” icon to copy the selected text to clipboard



On text input or text area
- "Paste" icon will appear if there is text content in clipboard



On image
- click “+” icon to enlarge the image by 10%
- click “-” icon to reduce the image by 10%
- click “Diskette” icon, or hold Ctrl & click the image, to save to predefined folder



On video
At the moment the Video Popup button will be shown, more functions will be added in future versions.

Still untranslated strings in the floatbar when you select a text... Reported in internal versions. Not fixed :(
Also several untranslated strings in the picture floatbutton. I must complain about the internal quality check on these things. :(

I also think the float button should NOT move while you are still selecting. Why not display if when you release the left mouse button instead? must take ALOT of cpu power to constantly moving it while a person is selecting.

bug found: copy a text. now go to an empty textbox. an empty button will appear for the floatbar, that if you press it , it acts as a paste button. this means that the icon is missing.also, when hovering the empty icon, a description of the URL appears , but it shows only a very short text of it.

another bug: when marking RTL text, the floatbar appears on the right of the block of text, instead of on the left .this means that something like this can happen:

suggestion: please set the translation tool to appear at the same tab, instead of a new tab, and allow it to be closed when done , just like what IE has (accelerators) .

When I press v in google reader to view original link in a new tab, other versions of maxthon works noraml but this version and the last one with Video Popup feature fails. It can only show the start pape.

I didn't say this bug earlier coz this text float button in this version is really a nice feature and I really want to use it but can't affort to use mouse to browse google reader. (Only "v" stops working. Use mouse to click a link to see the orignial page works.)

I did a clean install and none of the float buttons show any other text than english

I can't confirm, no empty button shows for me, just proper paste button.

Clicking the translate button opens translation in the same tab for me. If I'm reading an article I want to be able to continue reading that article while transation works in the background and not have to return to the article after having to wait for translator

another bug was found:
mark a text and wait for the floatbar to appear. now, try to scroll a page with the mouse wheel. it will always scroll to the place of the floatbar until you cancel the selection.

another suggestions:
instead of writing "copy selected text" , put a copy icon, and add a hover description that says what it does. also, please try to make the floatbar less jumpy, and not covering text that you might want to read.
in addition, allow us to show the floatbar on text using the right click button, so that it will show up near the mouse, and near it , we will have the regular context menu.

Ah, that sounds nice, I'm familiar with accelerators. Opening in a new tab is probably set in MSC.

I'm not seeing this, it appears to be scrolling normally.

I have a copy icon and the text shows as helper. Maybe skin has no copy icon?

switching to the default skin and back seems to fixed the icons problems, and it now also shows an icon instead of text for the "copy selected text" feature.
about the scrolling problem, i can't see it anymore. however, the floatbar stays even if i scrolled a lot. maybe it's not a bug, but a feature?   i think it can be useful.

about the new tab for the translation feature, i can't find options for this in MSC.

EDIT: i noticed that right clicking the floatbar will show the context menu of other toolbars. does it mean it is customizable as the rest? for example, i could add there a button to run a script to highlight the current marked text?
