This version fixed the gmail attachment problem and some other reported problems.

In this version gmail's flash based file attachment method is supported. Users no longer need to use the old upload method as workaround. This version also fixed some issues of the download manager core. And support for certain new download managers are added.

Btw... Just a question: why the use ie8 standard rendering mode option broke GMail layout? Is it a M2 related problem, a gmail problem, or is it caused by some way trident engine process the page when called from other processes other than IE?

PS: can you also update the italian translation in the setup package for, at least, the next version?

It's a pity!
Maxthon is may favourite browser since the days of myIE. But under win7 it won´t work correctly.
If i start maxthon an leave it as stand-alone application, everything works. But each time, i start annother application (f.e. outlook, mediaplayer) maxthon causes focus-problems at each program, even maxthon itself "freezes".
I have to minimize and re-maximize maxthon, to continue work (but if one of the other programs needs to get focus again, it needs the same procedure).
I can live with 160mb of ram, but this is a problem, which lets me change my browsing-program!
No other program behaves in a  similar way.
Is that a problem of my configuration, a problem of win7 or a incompatibility which can be solved?

to be honest, I've seen the crooked layout also in IE8 in compatibility mode (buttons below each other instead of on same row), so I'm inclined to think it's an engine issue.

If you are talking about keyboard inputfocus, tabswitching or clicking the addressbar works just as well...
problem seems caused by mouse activation for some people, using Alt-Tab or clicking on the toolbar/statusbar area to activate will completely prevent the problem.
Although I've also seen mention this is no longer a problem for others...so might also be related to profile

i´ve updated to version 2.5.3（80）but gmail attachment doesn´t work! it works only if i cleaned the cache before. second email = same problem

disable mouse activation won't solve the problem!
the problem itself still exist's if i use ALT-TAB, f.e. i  loose my mouse cursor.
no, thats not the way, i want to work.

I shall hereby attest that the language-switching problem we've been suffering from for three months has apparently been resolved, at least on my Vista laptop. I tested this on both a clean install of 2.5.3.80, and then on an upgrade from the 4-months-old 2.5.2.3272 (Beta 2). I'll report separately if I notice any issues with this build in the next few days of heavy usage. So far so good!

Boy am I glad I had faith!

Have you tried it with a new profile folder? You can have Maxthon generate a new one by moving the current one to a safe place.

Profile can be found in the SharedAccount folder for non-personal accounts or  a <your_email> folder for personal accounts.

On XP these are typically located in the Maxthon program folder.
On Vista these should be located in the VirtualStore folder.

On Vista there's a catch though...if you've let the program run right after install (using admin account) without UAC on, then a profile folder may have been created in the program folder. Move it to the VirtualStore or completely remove it...it's not supposed to be there coz settings seem only te be read from that one and written to the one in the VirtualStore...

Ver 2.5.2 had a stability problem,,, crashed at random times when open for 30 minutes of more.  Also, when opening groups, the first tab (far left) often fails to open.

It appears that 2.5.3 didn't address those issues. Wonder if they will ever be addressed?

still have the strange problem with mouse ...since Maxthon 2.5.2 (7058) my mouse freeze and do not response anymore ,so i went back to 2.5.2-3272 beta2 an no problem with ,now i tried 2.5.3 and again i have click 3 time and the pointer don't move ,just very slowly...

and also the spell check is not available in yahoo.com mail and hotmail(live).com ?

sorry but i have to say that the maxthon dev team are doing really really bad work ...solving bug and adding another bug

...spellcheck has never supported WYSIWYG post or email editors like Yahoo, GMail and Windows Live use. That's not a bug in the spellchecker, it simply don't work on them. It only works in the textareas where you see the actual bb-codes
