I found that it is possible to create a new passport account and then choose a nickname that is already in use on the forum.

This then create the false expectation this nickname will also be used in the forum which may not always be the case. If the nick is already in use on the forum, new members do not get a warning on passport site and subsequently on first visit to forum, a new member will then get an error and an option to change nickname.

Might want to re-instate uniqueness test on passport or at least verify with forum it is not already in use, so new visitors expecting to be able to use chosen name will not get dissapointed if that name turns out to be already in use (since forum still requires unique nickname) which the new member will only find out after registration and when visiting forum for first time.

As I know, nickname used in passport is not the nickname in forum.
every new member will be suggested to set a nickname on first visiting forum.If he skip it, his nickname will be his userid.

The point is that this should already have been stated on the passport site when creating the account.

It should also check for availability on the forum because the user will only be able to find out for him or herself after the creation of the account, when it is too late.

Stating that the passport account will provide access to several other Maxthon sites without the need to login separately on each site also raises the expectation that the chosen username also will be used on all sites.

This is a perfectly valid and normal expectation.

So whoever is in charge of this, please change this so this is synchronized and verified during registration as the current situation only contributes to a dissapointed and unhappy new member.

another question, will the new passport layout be combined with the same kind of language support as currently exist for addons site?

Maybe you are right, The unsynchronized username may puzzle the user.

At the official Discuz, we can register and login with username,so it need to keep the username unique.
But our passport use email to register and login, so just to keep the account unique.
We are Integrating Discuz7 with passport now, we may remove the unique restrict in Discuz and keep username synchronized between passport and forum.

Since installing this version, I'm being logged out of Passport.  I rarely close my browser and upon refreshing the page, I find I'm logged out.  Anyone else experiencing this?

I have several user accounts now and would like to delete some of them.  I went into explorer and found where the info was and deleted that, but it didn't delete the account.  Any info would be appreciated.

Apart from totally deleting the account (and I thought I had seen a link to do just that on the passport site, but can't seem to find it back)
there is also the config.ini in Maxthon2\Config\ which holds the account names of accounts having logged on before...you cannot edit the file. leaving only deleting as option, this will clear the logins for all locally stored accounts, so you will need to re-enter this for the account(s) you want to keep.

Thanks for the response JarC, but I think your light years ahead of me in the computer technical stuff...lol...I have no idea where "the config.ini in Maxthon2\Config\ which holds the account names of accounts" is.  I tried to find this via several routes, but no luck.  Could you give me a hint please as to where to go to locate this.  Thanks JarC

Was I correct in assuming you are talking about the account names showing in the login dialog?

You probably have Maxthon2 installed in C:\Program Files\Maxthon2 ?

If you are using XP then in that folder there is a folder named Config and in this folder you will find a file named Config.ini. It is this file you need to delete to make Maxthon 'forget' about the existence of your accounts.

If however you are using Vista or Windows7 then you need to look here
C:\Users\<your Windows Name>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Maxthon2
for the Config folder.

I should mention that I do know where some of the account info is stored, and the ones under ApplicationData\Roaming\Maxthon2, where I found and deleted.  However they still show up under accounts when I start Maxthon.

Oops, I had written the previous post this AM and forgot to post it and now sent it off before reading your response.  Anyway, yes it is the account names I'm trying to delete.  II don't have Maxthon under the route you gave me.  Sorry, I should have told you, I am running Vista Home Premium and Windows without ServicePack2 as I can't install it.  I'll keep searching in windows explore...if I find it I'll let you know, to help others.

Hidden content will show when replying.

and my e-mail server, ad far as I know, uses so called "grey list", it refuses my address for first time and wait for another attempt.
Can it be a problem?

The route I gave may ofcourse be different from your setup...

in your case there should then be a Config folder in the location you mentioned.

ApplicationData\Roaming\Maxthon2\Config

Just removing the Config folder (it'll contain just two files anyways which both get recreated) will clear all locally stored accountname details
