There's no way to disable Advanced Text Services in Windows Vista...and my guess would be in Windows 7 either.

for all those who have problems switching languages, i have this too and i don't like it at all.
however, there is a workarround that will fix it for now till the maxthon developers will fix it themselves:
right click maxthon link , press properties , compatability , and enable the "turn off advanced text services for this program" feature.now start maxthon.
I'm on Vista and so currently there is no known workaround for this serious bug which was introduced in 2.5.2.5442.
I went as far as creating ...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IMM]
"LoadIMM"=dword:00000000
... in my Vista registry trying to force disabling of "Advanced Text Services" -- to no avail. This is getting very annoying.
I counted at least 10 complaints in this thread alone regarding this issue. I counted numerous complaints on the 2.5.2.5442 release thread as well for this exact same issue.
Maxthon dev team, are you listening???

I don't understand the problem of switching language. I have 2 language, Italian and English, in language bar, and it switch every time i press left Alt + shift between both. Does this problem could be related to some kind of setting, instead of just the language bar and M2?
It's a bug that's been confirmed again and again by numerous users.. All say it was introduced in beta3... Was working fine all the way up to beta2. I actually did a clean install of ALL BUILDS the other day and again, upto beta2 there's no problem. Clean install means NOT a settings issue. Not a plug-in issue. VERY easy to reproduce bug... And I have no problem switching languages with any other Windows program... IT IS A *SERIOUS* MAXTHON BUG. PERIOD. I'm using Hebrew & English but just added Italian and it happens there too.. For example, when I hit the [ key when I'm in Italian keyboard it shows ; instead of è (which shows correctly in address bar, but not in webpage forms/textboxes).
Italian mode in web page text box (shows bug):
\1234567890[]
qwertyuiop;=/
asdfghjkl`'
zxcvbnm,.-
|!@#$%^&*(){}
QWERTYUIOP:+?
ASDFGHJKL~"
ZXCVBNM<>_
Italian mode in address bar (the way it should be everywhere):
\1234567890'ì
qwertyuiopè+ù
asdfghjklòà
zxcvbnm,.-
|!"£$%&/()=?^
QWERTYUIOPé*§
ASDFGHJKLç°ZXCVBNM;:_
English mode in address bar and text area (no bug):
`1234567890-=
qwertyuiop[]\
asdfghjkl;'
zxcvbnm,./
~!@#$%~!@#$%^&*()_+
QWERTYUIOP{}|
ASDFGHJKL:"
ZXCVBNM<>?
Hopefully this will give dev some direction...
And no, I'm not going back to beta2 cuz I *still* need better IE8 support, speed, and stability. I'm gonna have to suffer through this bug one more month I guess... (and you're gonna have to suffer through my screams about this bug -- at least I can vent hehehe). Or I may hack Windows Vista to death and kill that "Advanced Text Services" somehow - even if it means deleting system files (if it ain't avail in bootup, I guess it won't be able to use that service..if at that point the OS boots at all that is.) Volunteers?
