IE8 finally made its place to the stage as final retail...

What confuses me is do I need to install both 32 and 64? Normally Maxthon invokes the 32 bit version, but my IE icon is set to run the 64 that came with Vista.

Wow. I think that internet pages based on JavaScript (for example Gmail) runs much faster now with IE8 and M2 2.1.5.1250

sure thing, IE8 is much faster in JavaScrit (not to Java)

If you use MyYahoo, this is where you'll see a lot of improvement I'm using IE8 rendering in advanced MSC options!

I tried to turn on the IE8 rendering mode in MSC but it ruined my GMail - see attachment. So I turned it off in MSC, restarted M2 and it's still broken?!

No problem here with the configuration in my signature, while IE8 rendering is on.. What is your Maxthon version and what text filters are you using btw?

As I stated above I use M2 2.1.5.1250 with disabled text filtering. Oh, it was OK before I changed it. I have to keep reminding myself #1 rule - if it's working, don't touch/change/tweak it and let it be.

I have the same problem, with IE8 final and M2 2.5.2.3272 (Vista x64 SP1)

Yes, it looks OK in IE8f. So it's clear it's M2 problem.

You must download 64-bit Vista version, but it has 32-bit inside natively...

But shouldn't we let the page known that we use IE8 or Maxthon2 or whatever default setting was? Like that page could be optimized somehow if it see that we use IE8 instead of Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1)?

I have the feeling that it's not faster anymore as it was right after IE8 installation..

EDIT: I've fully reinstalled IE8 and that problem is still there by default. Changing string to MSIE 7.0 helps with Gmail problem but I can't avoid the feeling that javascript browsing was faster before I turned on/off that bloody experimental feature -> changed the string to Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1).

For GMAIL problem, set "customize User Agent String" in MSC .Advanced > to "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1)"

Installed IE8 on a laptop with maxthon already installed and IE8 fails to even launch. Maxthon opens fine but the buttons on google are micro tiny that you can't even read them.

Installed IE8 and Maxthon on a desktop the only runs firefox and IE8 & Maxthon both launch fine, but show the tiny buttons on google.

maxthon is very very unstable for me after installing the final version of IE8 . it freezes a lot. it also doesn't matter which version i use of maxthon (the final one or the beta) and even when i use the safe mode of maxthon. it still freezes a lot.
the odd thing is that in safe mode, it freezes but allows to switch between tabs(but not to see their content) .

Thats odd UFO. I had been testing on a version with no plugins at all, now on a version with about 20 plugins installed. Not much difference. You always seem to have problems with new IE installs

Long live brand-new Anti-freeze that we sacrificed window frame for

Oh well, 2.1.5 is pretty stable still.
