Thanks to the Maxthon team..
User since 2002. MyIE->MyIE2->Maxthon->Maxthon2
Thanks to the Plugins Authors and The Maxthon Team.
This is good update, for the first time the floating filter works, seems finally stable and the memory management is better.
Still there is much work to do but the stability for me is the most important thing.

Looks like a solid update, thanks.

Is it possible that there is some new memory leakage? Didn't notice this in the beta but Maxthon is now excessively using RAM or at least not releasing it, pushing to a peak of over 780MB! With only two tabs open and the MemoryManager plugin from abc@home running the memory usage keeps increasing over time. Only thing that will bring the usage back to normal momentarily is to minimize Maxthon.

A new update!
Thanks!

Maxthon 2.5.11.3390 Unicode | IE 8 | Windows 7 Pro x64| E6550 | 4GB ram | M2 Suggestions

Very slow !!!

With NO plugins, when opening just one tab CPU gets up to over 50% CPU, opening at once several tabs CPU gets up to arround 90, even 99%. And the whole system "hangs" untill all tabs are opened. And my PC is not a slow one.

This is NOT acceptable.

I will still stick to Max 1, speed is unbeatable!
I hope very much Max 1 will be further on corrected / updated - it is the best browser arround, and I have also tried the most popular other ones.

Greetings!

How about the speed in safe mode?

Dear Pekkle,

Thank you for the reply.

In Normal mode (no Plugins in Plugin directory) the opening of the relevant tab group did take an endles time to open... I even stopped (by Taskmanager) the browser before having finished its task, CPU was all the time 100%.

In Safe mode the opening of the same tab group was just about a minute... so quite acceptable.

What to do to give the M2 the same speed in Normal mode?
Is it possible to preserve the configuration?

Thanking you in advance!

try to set proxy as no proxy...
try to disable text filter...
try to disable plugins from auto run...
these may help, as safe mode do not have plugin, ad filter, etc...

The second version seems to fix a possible passport login problem.
Could you maybe shed some more light on the so called "User Experience Improvement Program"? A program, with a suspiciously long name.

For example, what informations are collected? When are they collected?

Quote:
System Information: Hardware and OS information, etc.

Etc... what??

Quote:
The UEIP only collects information about Maxthon products and services. But since some other software might also affect the usage of our products and services (software conflict, security flaw, etc.), we might also collect information about them.

How is this going to look in reality, will additional memory dumps which might include sensitive data be sent to the developers?

Where are the informations stored, how and when are those informations transmitted and to what entity (IP address)? How can a user make sure that Maxthon isn't sending and collecting data anyway even though he has opted-out? Those are a few questions I think deserve to be answered so that one couldn't even start suspecting shady intentions of you guys.

Although a little memory is released when closing tabs, much of it is never released even when minimizing  Is this only happening on my machine?

Nope, check my previous post in this thread. At least for me this is because I run Maxthon as a non admin now. This caused the Downloader to stop working as well.

Dear Pekkle,

Searching for the reasons of the slow work, after your suggestion I played with different combinations, and it came out that the Sitelistupdater plugin was the problem. I disabled it, un-installed (deleted) it and re-installed it again. Now the Max 2 works as expected.

Thank you very much for your help!

For SiteListUpdater, do not enable SiteListUpdaterNoURL.xml in text filter should be fine.
