Recently, I have seen a guy called Sameera de Alwis has made a new browser called xAurora. He claims that it is completely coded himself with Win32 assembly code and it is his own innovation.

But, we have found that it is a cracked version of Maxthon. Please read this report [http://kalingasblog.com/xaurora/xAurora2008_exe_hack.htm].

What the creator has done is decompiling maxthon.exe, and then replacing each string reference of 'maxthon' with 'xaurora'. We think that this is an illegal piracy of Maxthon.

Yes, it is no doubt a rip of Maxthon 1.x older version. Besides the obviously visible features, user interface, there are also Maxthon plugin APIs, including those internal APIs which were never published, as well as the interaction of maxthon.exe with the registry in process monitor (how come so careless   ).

There is a guy who claimed to be author of MyIE2 and Maxthon (in different browser names) several times before. Everytime he disappeared a while after being contacted. Not sure if this is the same guy again, thinking that Maxthon will be care less about Maxthon 1.x.

Will make sure the developers know about this.

I sent him an e-mail and got a very nasty response from him claiming that Maxthon and he have an agreement and that his xAurora is the original and Maxthon is stealing from him.  LOL  I can post the e-mail message if JarC will approve it.

Ahhh... Mr.Kalinga is back... ... I'm writing this post not to prove enything.

I'm writing this for the Maxthon guys and the users who in to this newly.
Xaurora is a pure Win32 Assembly codded web browser.. We are currently working on that to prove it.
So I'm invite all to see the fact and decide wether this is a fake or not.

I'll put a Link soon....so everybody can undestand the behind operation. Until then don't come to conclusions.

XAurora  is truly Sri Lankan Product and it is for the free distribution. The technology behind the browser is also based on Sri Lankan technology and Xaurora is a pure Win32 Assembly codded web browser. As a Sri Lankan I'm proud of this. If some day (near future) they will prove it and that day Mr. Kalinga, You will be shame on betray mother Lanka.

He has taken down the download link and removed the contact form as of making this post. Some people have nothing better to do than to rip off other peoples work. Anybody got a link to the download so I can have more of a laugh?

How many of u have read the about in the xaurora?  I don’t think that any one of u have done that. When we want to know about a software what do we do first? the first thing is read the about then help, if the information is not enough we go to the internet... there we find many things... but what do u search in the internet ? u search for the mother site of the product information ! Then go for the blogs.... that’s the way we do things....


So I think u all should read the about in the xAurora. There is some thing that u all should read. Use the browser... then give Ur comments about this... Other wise u all are wasting time...

We have never given them rights to modify/re-distribute Maxthon. We are preparing some legal action. Meanwhile I want to thank all you guys input and effort to protect Maxthon. The community is the true treasure of Maxthon.

Maxthon means a lot to us so apart from annoying you guys with bug reports and feature requests, we can try to look out for Maxthon.

But don't be so narrow minded. like Mr.Kalinga...
I told you earlier to be patient until we publish our proof of concept...so if you can't wait and you want to take legal action...no one is stopping you..!!!

give it your best shot...I don't know if you are a Sri Lankan or not ... but remember this...XAurora is a Sri Lankan thing...and we all are proud of it. if some one takes any action against Xaurora...... !!!!

In case you don't know, bloodchen is the dev of Maxthon (along with many others). It has been proven xAurora is nothing but a rip off of Maxthon. Without any permission, it is illegal.
