After dozens of 2.0.x official and beta versions, Maxthon is glad to to release the first 2.1 version. Maxthon 2.1 series will focus more on improving and refining the usability and stability.

In 2.1, the Web Tools bar has been re-organized for more convenient use and cleaner look.
Now it has Forward, Backward, Font Size, Encoding etc on the left. Often used tools like content control, Magic Fill, and capture etc are moved to the right and accompanied by text labels.
Yet as usual, Maxthon's user interface can be fully customized to any way the most convenient to the users.

And in response to enormous requests, the Last Visited Pages is changed to "cumulative basis".
If a page in the Last Visited Pages list is not re-opened and the Last Visited Pages is not closed, it will be carried forward.
Besides the above changes, this version has also fixed a lot of interface bugs and several crash problems. Please refer to the change log for all changes.

Thanks for the new release.  I just love Maxthon 2.1.  Did a clean install and everything went smoothly.  Super job.

Any word yet on when the problem with the Alt key will be fixed?  It's not "critical" for me, but as you can see, I need it if I want to type my screen name using the Alt+numeric keypad.

it seems that this release is more stable than the beta, and i think the file-sniffer-icon problem doesn't occur anymore.

With a clean install, yes.. If you install over a previous version without uninstalling the older one, no..

I don't see why this could cause any problems. On three computers that had 2.0.9 installed previously, Maxthon works just as good as on the computer where the betas were installed. None of those were "clean" installs.

Since the majority of config files got converted to Unicode, settings are not lost/altered anymore on upgrade.

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but there's a step by step solution for the missing sniffer icon issue:

- Close Maxthon
- Open your skin file (for example: C:\Program Files\Maxthon2\Skins\LeopardGlass.M2S) with WinRAR
- Open mskin.ini and add the line FileSniffer=misc\16_sniffer.png (does not matter where you add it) , save & close..
- WinRAR will ask you if you want to update the file, select yes..
- Drag & drop your icon file to misc folder of the skin file.. If you don't have it, get it from http://forum.maxthon.com/attachment.php?aid=17966
- Close WinRAR

Now you must be able to see the icon..

Instead of being able to type an URL in the Open-dialog window one is going through the Maxthon menu... Big bug I think... too bad , I love Mathon but now going back to version 2.0.9.1640

Be sure to NOT let it convert the file to rar format.

Also do not use WinZip's latest and newest compression method when using WinZip to update the file, it's not compatible.

RightALT key is also necessary to type national character.
Ie Polish users can't type ł letter (right ALT+l) without changing shortcut to lock Maxthon in MSC.
It should be fixed and I think it is possible.
