nothing helped to make this icon appear as in the clean installation.
does anyone know a workaround (or a fix) for this problem?
does anyone else even have this problem?

UFO, yes I don't see the Sniffer icon anymore as well. Upgraded from the previous beta and removed the UI.xml. It does whow with the Internal skin though, what could mean a new/different icon is now used.

you mean it did work for you after deleting the UI.xml file and choosing the default skin?
if so, for me it didn't work(as i wrote in the previous post).
only when i used the clean install it worked, but i don't want to set all the old settings again.

Again the same story!
Non English users can not use right Alt+l and right Alt+s keys to type niational characters !!!
For example we use right ALT+l to get ł or right ALT+s to get ś.
Please do not implement this "fix" !!

Small bug with the Webtools Bar adding/deleting external tools.
The menu entries in add/remove buttons submenu are always added and never deleted.
(a bar restore doesn't solve)

UFO, I had to go to an actual video to get the icon to show, simply going to Youtube.com did not show the icon. This maybe why I wasn't seeing the icon when I updated rather than installing in new folder

Changing skin to an alternate and back may solve this problem.. It worked for me..
Also that icon appears when you hit play the video, not appears when you are visiting the site that contains video..
I mean video must be playing in order to see that icon..

Edit: Icon stays there just for the session..

Setting the sniffer to sniff '*all files' the icon is shown always, also refreshing this forum page, since it does sniff everything (jpg, png, gif,
js, and so on... )

Watch what happens when you restart Maxthon. If I change from my usual skin to another and then back, there are always a few icons not restored.



Any guess on what the icon is called, so the skin ini can be adapted?

about the icon, it doesn't always show up using the workaround of using the default skin.
also, i already know that going to a video website like youtube is not enough if i monitor just movies, and this is exactly what i did - monitoring everything and pressing the "play" button.

- i see now what is the problem. some people use those combinations for getting to the menu, some for entering special characters of other languages. i just use the ALT+SHIFT combination to type in hebrew, but it seems that there is a problem here with other users concerning the ALT key. maybe there could be an option to disable it accessing the menu using the ALT key. for now,sdar, maybe this workaround would work for you: try changing the configuration of the menu items (using the customization mode) so that the '&' character won't interefere with your keys (s and l) .

Sorry, can't understand the problem.  

The icon is packed in the default skin of Maxthon, in maxthon.exe,
of course. There is not need to add the icon somewhere, unless you
want use it to update some other skins. In this case, here is it:

The sniffer icon works for me, but it just seems to add two steps to the process, doesn't it? I used to start a video, right click the clearly readable link in the sniffer popup, and select download with Maxthon Downloader. Done. Now I have to open and then close a window I never needed to see in the first place. How is that better?
Personally, I would like both the new and the old, if possible.

IMHO this can be considered a feature.
So those users that choose to hide the plugins bar, can still keep the button on the webtools bar.
The problem surface deleting and re-adding a tool.
