WAP SideBar 1.1.0

A simple browser for viewing WAP pages in Maxthon side bar. For Maxthon 2.0.9 or later, and 1.6.3 or later.

Before you ask

1. How does it work?
It pretends to be opera to access to WAP sites, and forces IE to display WAP pages (text/vnd.wap.wml, application/xhtml+xml, application/vnd.wap.xhtml+xml) instead of showing a download dialog, and then converts the wml pages to html.

2. Why not simply converts WAP pages in Maxthon tab but in the sidebar?
Many WAP pages redirect non-opera browsers to html "information" pages. So it is necessary to use opera as useragent to view these pages, but setting opera as useragent will affect viewing normal html pages like those in microsoft sites. Also WAP pages are optimized for narrow vertical rectangular display in cell phones and look bad in the browser tab.

3. How does it compare to WAP to HTML web conversion services?
- better security and privacy (no third party website sees what you enter or read)
- faster (no extra connection to/from third party website)
- support WAP browsing events not available to web conversion services
- support local pages and pages not accessible by web conversion services
- completely ads free of course

4. Why it says "This page can only viewed by cell phone"?
Some WAP sites only allow visits by cell phones. Some reserve certain contents to be viewed by cell phones only. These sites check the IP address of visitors to identify if they are cell phones. Opera (internet browser) cannot view these pages either.

5. Any recommended WAP sites?
I know dozens of very good WAP sites, but all in Chinese.

- disable plugin and restart maxthon
- uninstall old version and


Note
- works for Maxthon 2.0.9 or later and Maxthon 1.6.3 or later
- for Maxthon 1.6.3 change COM_Global to COM in the plugin.ini
- works for win2k or above
- MSCOMCTL.OCX is required

When try to enable see next:
WAP sidebar coused an error. It will be disabled :(
It doesnt enabling..

This is the same issue as the Proxy Tool plugin. Both are com_global type.

Does it work after restart?

I find maxthon, with multi-thread enabled, has problem enabling certain com plugins. But the plugins will work fine after restart.

Yes, I disable multitreading and plugin enabled without error.
After enabling multitreading plugin works.

But also I saw wrong encoding in status line of plugin...

It is possible in some next version add one option - fixed window frame size? It is useful for testing pages for mobile phones and PDAs

Do you mean setting the size of the browser window? But what frontsize, line spacing etc to be used then? They will also impact on the layout.
