Maxthon 2.0.8 Beta Released The Chinese New Year is coming, Maxthon take this opportunity to release a version —— Maxthon 2.0.8 Chinese New Year Edition (Beta). In this version, two highly anticipated features have been added - the support for IE/COM plugins, and "Maxthon Downloader", a high speed integrated download manager. To use IE plugins in Maxthon: Click "Tools" > "Maxthon Setup Center" > "Plugins" > "IE Extensions" and select from the list of installed IE plugins. Please note that the use of IE plugins may affect stability of Maxthon and please use with care. To use Maxthon Downloader as default download tool: Click "Tools" > "Maxthon Setup Center" > "File Download" and select "Maxthon Downloader". Maxthon Downloader can be configured by clicking "Setup...". Maxthon Downloader supports innovative P2P technology which can improve download speed, and enable download of some files which no longer hosted in the original server. P2P is not enabled by default, and can be enabled in "Connection Setting". Downloading and downloaded tasks can be managed in "Maxthon Downloader" tab: Click "Tools" > "Maxthon Downloader" to access. (If "Maxthon Downloader" does not appear in the "Tools" menu, please reset the menu bar: Right Click "Tools" > "Add or Remove Buttons" > "Reset") Besides the above new features, this version has also made a lot of improvements to the existing features. For example, download function is added to the context menu of the "File Snipper" dialog so any files can be conveniently saved locally. This would be released to public then? On a side note: IMO this release's version should be 2.1 or something, IE plugins support is a big change and the version number should reflect that. OT:Darn, the speed is terribly slow here in Egypt.

IMNSHO the "Start download when browser start" option is wrong.
It should be "Start download when Maxthon Downloader start"
At least, this is what happens to me. No downloads are started "at browser start".

BTW these entries are still missing in Language.ini

Moreover, if Maxthon Security Updates were definitely abandoned,

Multi-Monitor problems currently still existing when M2 lives on secondary monitor: (as far as I am immeidately aware off) Capture Screeen Region still opens on main monitor Float Button appears on main display.

Houston we have a problem [] - Start a download, then pause it. - Close DM - Switch UI language (eg. english to italian or viceversa) - Switching languages the DM executable is started. So, if the option mentioned above is enabled, the paused download is automatically (and silently []) started as well. Maybe not a big bug, since usually when people select a UI language keep using it forever, nevertheless IMO this can be considered, at least, an unwanted behavior.

I mean, I have several installed, but there's not one listed here...

It's nice to have this red warning text. But a checkbox to actually enable them would be helpful here.

What is "Get More..." doing here? Are there plans to add all known/available IE Extensions as download on the Addons site? If not then it should be disabled/hidden on the IE Extensions tab, as folks will be expecting to get directed to an IE Extension download from there.

Do these installed IE toolbars show up in Maxthon 1.x?

In my case only toolbars marked with * in Maxthon 1.x shows up in Maxthon 2.0.

So your one and only decent find in page plugin originaly for Maxthon called: Easyfinder 3(COM version) // http://forum.maxthon.com/index.php?showtop...p;hl=easyfinder ) and no one bothered to test it out? Because I just tried it out thinking.. wow finally M2 might have a decent search plugin working... but nope it crashes M2, perhaps its not all M2 fault.. perhaps the plugin author needs to update it a bit..? so what IE/COM addons do actually work then? And I see we got Maxthon Downloader.... great another feature that needs a whole ton of improvements doing to it.. oh and its using the browser window...great suckyness... bit like the history window, that still doesn't even have a decent sidebar version of itself like M1. I coudln't even say the Maxthon Downloader is better then FF downloader.. becuase at least that detaches itself from the main browser frame and has its own window, that actually displays its progress in the taskbar.. with window like features.. I think most will just stick to external decent dl managers like flashget. when on earth are you guys going to actually improve on the stuff you added to M2 last year or was it the year before? Maybe now you can start working on improving detach tab, split screen, skins, etc it would be about time.

Well, too bad for you that you don't like the integrated download manager then. I never used a download manager because I don't like those external things that aren't properly integrated in a browser. But this one is, so now I can start using a download manager [:smile:] Thanks Maxthon team [] And maybe abc@home can create a COM based search plugin? Well great you've found a better a "Downloader" obviously its better then the default IE7 downloader rubbish. But it is not a Download Manger.. and it is not better than any external DL manager I've seen either...This M2 one is just a plain extended Downloader... if it was a "Download Manager" it would have categories, and would be setup to make download managing better.. but from the looks of its current setup and progress in most things on M2, I seriously don't see much hope for it ever being a replacement for any external dl manager.. shame really.

Maybe it would be better to just find the guy (dododoustc2) who originally made the plugin to come back and update it.. because so far no other search plugin I have found beats his one... all the rest just seem to be inferior attempts.

The internal download manager never aims at replacing external download managers. It's just the most requested feature all time from those who don't use external download manager. And FYI, it is based on the most popular download manager in China, which displaced flashget in storm due to superior speed and features. It may not have the file management feature you like, but it has all the advanced download features which even flashget (pre 2.0) does not have, never mind firefox.

OK, at first, thanks developers for the new released beta. [:smile:] Last time we got spellchecker, now we have Downloader. Oh, and IE plugins support. [:smile:] But (yes, but []) even now spellchecker isn't remembering last language of check. Each time it's starting from the first in the list (English in my case). So if I'm not writting english (generally not), I'm forced to check twice. And concerning Downloader. I'm using external Download Manager, but even when Downloader is deselected in options, every startup of Maxthon my firewall is telling me, that Max is trying to launch Downloader with '/R' parameter. The same situation in File Download section in Max options. When I'm opening this section (options of Max, not options of Downloader), even if Downloader is not checked, Max is trying to launch Downloader with '/LANG:*path to language file*' parameter. And my question: Is it really necessary to try to launch Downloader in such situations? If Maxthon knows, that I'm not using Downloader, he should "forget" about it's existance. But (now positive []) in any case great work.

Alright, tried out the download manager. First of all a big thank you for getting this feature in, now for some feedback on what can be done better: We need a mouse gesture to open the download tab. I lack an option to auto-open certain file endings, for example .torrent. When the "Use Download Manager for the following file types: All file types" is checked I noticed that it did not open certain files such as .torrent. When you right click on images and choose "save images as" it opens IE's download manager, clicking "download by maxthon downloader" doesn't fetch the image link. I hate how I can't minimize the download window (the one outside maxthon) to the system tray and that it does not work when maxthon is closed. Otherwise, great work and keep it up []!

Workaround: Seems the dictionaries are arranged by alphabetical order. In my case i have simply renamed the dictionary files it_IT.dic to 1it_IT.dic and it_IT.aff to 1it_IT.aff. In this way the italian dictionary is always selected by default. Dictionary files location: Maxthon Folder/Modules/MxSpellCheck/Dic [:smile:]
