Maxthon Browser 2
The Way We Surf The World
+ New Split View Mode I'm looking and I don't see this supposedly 'new' feature returned at all [] * fixed some problems with multimonitor Just not all of them, ie when M2 is in window frameless mode, the skin still shows up on the 2nd monitor when maximised. * sidebar tabs are set to show the icon only that should be an option for the user to choose, not a forced on. M2 has had sidetabs with the text for ages just leave it, or make the option available to choose. oh well back to waiting for another version I guess

Pfew, I'm glad it's not just me who can't find the New Split View Mode. I've tried the old way by dragging a tab into the main window but that doesn't work, all that does is duplicate the tab you just dragged []

Can't you see this button on the toolbar [] If so, try to reset the main Toolbar. I've made a fresh install, and the button is shown by default. Also, the same option is available under View Menu > Split View Mode.
Reset the menu bar or tool bar to get the split view button. It can also be found in the "customize..." dialog.
Thanks Whiteshark1 and ABC, after resetting the toolbar I now have the spilt view button, I should have thought of that sooner []

new split view is a bit rubbish then ... why couldn't it just have been added back to the right clikc menu for when you right click on a tab... and now when you press this button it opens a blank page.. and when you try to close the blank page it doesn't go away and remove the split mode.. and now the fancy dragging of a tab into a split mode doesn't work.. can anyone say rubbish... this is hopeless maxthon2 is going backwards

* some skin icons updated Just for criticize something [] Please change that ugly and outdated set of icons under "Change Button Image" menu. It seems coming out straight from Windows 3.1 [] You have a lot of fantastic icons in Maxthon Browser, and in Maxthon Website too. Come on! It's just a bmp resource in the exe to change, a joke for smart devs like you []
Hmm I think I just encountered a bug [] When you are in split view mode and use form fill in the secondary window (the rightside window), that window looses the horizontal scrollbar, it happened to me on several sites [] To be more specific, it only happens when you're in the secondary window, use drag and drop, for instance to look something up in google, close the google tab and go back to the 1st tab in the secondary window, then right click magic fill and the horizontal scrollbar is gone, leaving you with only the right handside of that page. -editted to be more specific-

*sigh* And once again none of the user-requested features was added []

Get your facts straight before pointing a finger will you? thanks wink.gif

1. it's not just a bmp resource in the exe, its a resource in the 3rd-party interface libary for the UI.

2. Office 2007 also still uses the same submenu with the same button images.

realizing that you are beyond the point where you might still appreciate any M2 feature, dragging stil works here...it even closes the split if it's the last tab dragged. (how many lemons _did_ you ate?)

Who pointed a finger?!? Have you noticed the emoticons? ohmy.gif

However, FYI, isn't a library, it's a bmp resource.
Exactly the # 9103.

Sorry Whiteshark, I'm afraid TEggHead is correct, it _is_ part of the 3rd-party UI library resources, the fact it ends up as Resource No # in a compiled exe making use of this library does not make it a native Maxthon resource. If it were it would likely have been a PNG and not a BMP. However, one thing is not entirely correct, it's true Office 2007 still uses the same button images, but only for Outlook, The other components of the Office suite no longer refer to this bitmap.

The right-click method only accessed the Reader Tab, as this feature is not yet re-implemented, there is no use for a tab context item yet. The same is true for dragging a tab showing the popup menu with choices of Vertical or Horizontal split, this submenu is part of and triggered by the original tab bar implementation. Now we have a direct button to initiate split view, which is a much better solution because the drag -> drop > submenu method was not all that intuitive to a lot of people. The original Split View is a feature of the 3rd-party UI library, and as such it only knows how to deal with the Tab Control contained in that library. Since the Tab Bar implementation has been totally replaced by in-house code instead of 3rd-party code, the original Split View does not support this Maxthon native tab bar implementation, hence it also had to be rewritten. And just like M2 itself, it did not start with a complete and finalized feature set. Time will tell, but I would not be at all surprised if at some point in the future this button will provide access to a similar type of submenu (split vertical or horizontal) Same for the Reader Tab functionality, I am sure this too will return at some point in time when it has been rewritten to work with the current tab bar implementation.

the way I remember it..you only had to drag an existing tab, to the far left for a vertical split.. and to the bottom for a horizontal split.. that was extremly fast setup for chucking tabs onto another split view.. anyone who thinks this new method is better is well //just is " border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

no you don't get me, i'm not talking about clicking a split view button and then dragging a tab.. sure that works.. but a useless extra steps from functionality that originally just allowed you to grab a tab and throw it to the side of the window, would instantly split the view, accordingly... and open that tab address. now that is better! .. not this new re-implentation of suckyness...

so for me removing faster, better functionality in replace of something inferior is not something i support, I kinda of see what you are saying Jarc , but it really means nothing.. I don't see no dev in here explaining what is going on, and what is likely to happen in the future with this feature or anything else for matter..

all faith is lost.

* fixed problem that "Enable Quick Search in Address Bar" may not work

Somehow this deactivated Quick Search after I upgraded.

Hopefully the permanent connection attempts to "ot-1.maxthon.com" are gone for the public release.

Resetting toolbar wouldn't work for me. Icon didn't appear. Maybe because I hadn't done fresh install? Had to get it from customise box.

So true, please next time do a bugfix-only release! And devs, please listen to to all the English users out there too! It seems to me that the devs are turning their backs on us, and only care about Chinese users!

if that is the case, then what do the chinese users say to these monthly releases... what is the general feedback there...because obviously there isn't much point in giving feedback here, its been a waste of time the way I see it.

all these fix releases means very little to me.. its the features that make a browser worth using.. and so far m2 brings some niceties but leaves a lot of worthwhile stuff out sad.gif which kinda makes it pointless in using, as a browser like M1 is still better overall... And things like "Float buttons" are like half finished features.. there kinda useful but there isn't much configuring avaible that and they need fine tuning in respect to the way it works as its a little rough.. but none of that is happening..

Excuse me! How do you arrive at that conclusion? I've seen nothing that would indicate that and it doesn't serve any positive function starting false rumors like that.
