Cool! Finally RC2 internal version come []
Adblock Plus for Maxthon2 -- SiteListUpdater
hi guys, "Maxthon 2.0.2.65 has been leaked. It's not an official release and might be buggy/unstable. Our advice is to wait for the next official release " what does this mean? the link bloodchen gave is for 2.0.2.566 but i cannot see it on the maxthon website. is this version leaked or official?
The first line of his post says 'Maxthon RC2 Forum version release' so I'd take a guess and say it's not suppsoed to be on the website, only these forums for now. And since bloodchen himself posted this version it's about as real as it can get. The previous 2.0.2.65 was a leaked one that made it's way to external sites which was why there was a disclaimer about it at the top of the page. Now the disclaimer is gone so there shouldn't be any more confusion.
Windows XP with the latest public version of the browser formerly known as MyIE2.
thanks a lot, just wanted to be sure. it took a long time to make all my settings in m2 so i do not want it to crash []
Stack fault on win8se: Just installed 2.02.566, ansi version, but when I went to run it got stack fault and it wouldn't start. It downloaded the max2ansi.exe OK, and I have gdiplus.dll in the max directory. Ideas? Is this really the ansi version I got? It seemed to download the ansi file OK. EDIT EDIT Just tried .566 again - same result; but could the ansi file be the old/wrong one? I get same stack fault error message if I use the old (9009) ansi file with the .566 setup.
Just installed the new RC2 internal release over RC1 9008. It is good, that the maximised Mx2 does not shrink when called from an external link. It was very annoying. Found the following bugs; 1.) Lost my toolbars. It is not, that they were activated, but they are not known to RC2. To overcome this problem, an Export/Import tool-bar feature/plug-in is urgently needed. It helps to overcome such teething problems. 2.) The Sidebar "improvements" make it more difficult to use the sidebar. In RC1 it was nice to be able to keep the sidebar as a narrow column that pops-up when the cursor goes to it, but also switch off this column. That button/feature should come back, but combined with the new one: both buttons should be shown. 3.) Using RC1, I removed the "Subscriptions" bar: I do not need it as I do not have any subsriptions. With RC2-Internal, it is not possible. It should be optional, and controlled by an option in the Setup Center: Either in the General or in the Advanced tab, unless of course, the visible Toolbars/Sidebars could be controlled by another tab, which is logical. It would just include the Toolbar-customisation in the Setup center. 4.) the Toolbar-Customise feature is difficult to use, as the window is fixed-size, so that many button on the Buttons-tab are not visible. Making it resizable (or increasing its size) would make it useable. When clicking on the downloaded exe, it came up first with an error message, that it could not read a module. When I clicked on the Retry button, it installed OK.

this version is GREAT!! no more, no less P.S. FormData import still not implemented...
1) betwen betas, things will break... I see no point in making some export/import feature of this because until final, the format of ui definitions will/might change. To ensure full compability, the toolbars are always reset when installing a new beta over an old. It's always recomended to start fresh on a new beta because old settings might cause bugs that would not appear on a fresh installation.

Agree Rako about the following: "It is good, that the maximised Mx2 does not shrink when called from an external link. It was very annoying." In this version are completely solved the bugs i have reported here: Antirootkit kills M2 Interface and here: M2 resize when called from external links Thanks! []

I have made a new fresh install in a new folder (named Maxthon22 []) Do you think i can import (i mean copy&paste) Collector, Favorites and MagicFill data (Collector.xml, mbookmark.xml and Form.dat), or this may also cause some bug? Thanks
Two more observations: In the History I found the following entry: http://forum.maxthon.com/style_images/maxthon/iframe.html When clicked on, it came up with a blank page. As for the tool-bars: I have full understanding for resetting the old ones for possible format-changes. That is one of the reasons for having an export/import feature: Export it in the old format and import it in the new format. An automated conversion recognizing the exporter-version would make the conversion easy. For that, until it is integrated into Mx2, there could be a small utility-program to do the format-conversion. But even without that, it would be possible to adapt it by hand in any Editor-Program.

You only need to delete, or rename, the profile folder inside the m2 installation folder. There is no need to install into a new folder.

I cannot really tell what will cause a bug and what won't, since a simple file format change in any of the files you might want to copy over could cause a bug. I don't know wether this happens or not. Only bloodchen and the other developers do.

I'd get used to doing a fresh install every once in a while now when M2 is still in beta, just to ensure that you have a "good" profile.

This is my personal opinion only... Spending time on writing converters for formats that are used in betas is time not very well spent. Once M2 goes final and a format change is made, then I'd expect M2 to be able to read and covert the old format to the new one. Not in betas though... Too much change between versions to even bother adding code to handle it.

Right click toolbar and untick "Lock Toolbar" and then drag the toolbar where you want it?

I'll reply this post first, if your second needs comments I will edit this post, so please check if there's no other replies posted after this one if I haven't updated the post...

1. To be expected, UI.xml will always get reset to defulat when a major UI change is implemented. And even if not, it is advised to always start with fresh profile to prevent new additions not showing if the UI.xml does not get reset.

3.

+ press ctrl key can drag out the independent module from the sidebar

4. This is most likely caused by the translation. The English version even has room for yet another row of buttons, so the translation is too elaborate most likely.
Question, Should we be starting new threads for our feedbacks rather than to be adding posts to this thread?

Tried it yet up and down, from row to row? you should be aware by now that toolbars can not be resized that easily to shrink (a.k.a dragged horizontally) unless there are many buttons overflown on other toolbars on the same row...

and your favorites bar is not hidden, just emptied in customize mode to prevent it going multiline if you haven't set it to do so. It should display the "Recent Visited Hyperlinks" button unless you turned it off, in which case look for an empty toolbar.

- 33 MB RAM for one tab... I miss Max 1, hello FF-style tongue.gif

Sidebar opened by any chance?

with just the one blank tab and sidebar closed 9MB,
same as above and minimized to taskbar 4.5MB
I think keeping feedback in this thread and perhaps asking for bug confirmation before making new topics is wise in order to keep the number of new topics down.

- I have 60-100% CPU for every site! With and without seperate thread for each tab. @carpediem Thanks, I totally forgot about that ><
