Description

Pandora Sidebar loads Pandora internet radio in your Maxthon sidebar.
Now you can listen to free music right from your sidebar!;

This plugin is a bit of a hack, since the normal Pandora Flash window is very wide, and the Maxthon sidebar is very narrow, it just doesn't fit.
So I created different views, that allow you to see different parts of this Flash window.
So you can still change stations, vote, change volume, and of course play, pause & skip the current song.
For debugging I also included a "full" view, so you can view the full Pandora window, in case you get an error message of some kind.


Note

Make sure you are logged into Pandora before you start this plugin.
Registration is free (entering a United States zip code is required).


About Pandora

Pandora is an automated music recommendation and Internet radio service created by The Music Genome Project.

Users begin by entering a song or artist that they enjoy, and the service responds by playing selections that it thinks are musically similar. Users are then able to provide feedback on the individual song choices — approval or disapproval — which the system takes into account for future selections.

How to install this Maxthon Sidebar plugin

For Maxthon 1.x:

1. Unzip the downloaded file to Maxthon's Plugin folder. (for example in "C:\Program Files\Maxthon\Plugin")

2. Restart Maxthon - the new plugin will be detected and you'll be asked to activate it.

3. Open the sidebar if it isn't already open in "View >> Explorer Bar".

You can enable or disable every plugin in "Maxthon Options >> Plugin >> Maxthon Plugin".

Very nice plugin, thank you Neo101 (HAHA! Tara makes some good plugins to, but this is not one of his, sorry Neo ^^) [:smile:]! Just a thought though, will there be options for arrangeing the "windows" in this plugin at a later stage?

???? For some reason it does not want to work for me. I know I am logged into Pandora because it starts playing immediately when I open it on its own tab. But the plugin keeps stating the below in red no matter which view I select. There's also no errors other than the below text. I think something went wrong, song info isn't loaded yet.. You can check for Pandora error messages if you click on "full" under "view" No Pandora error messages showing on the full view either Knowing Pandora is all Flash, I expected to see some flash objects in the sidebar, but it isn't showing anything besides the text info. EDIT1: it only partly works when I have Pandora opened in a tab, then I get song,artist and station info, it then also shows album art, but no controls or stations...and the red error msg never goes away EDIT2: I assume the voting controls aren't yet implemented? or are these part of what I am missing in the sidebar? I have these problems to from time to time (noticed now), often when I click the sidebar it's just stuck on loading til' I get the error messege. What has helped before is to push the "reload plugin" button, now for some reason the bar hangs up when im doing it, wich means I just see a white background in the sidebar " border="0" alt="confused.gif" />.

Weird, you should see a part of the Pandora Flash control above the "details" header, loaded in an iframe. What's the URL of the iframe? It should be http://www.pandora.com/?cmd=mini

Here's what I found, for some reason or another, whatever is happening in the iframe causes it to get ad-blocked... trips on something /click(s|) []

[] it's getting even weirder, I loaded what get's loaded in the iframe, pandoraUrl, in a tab, and it loads a player which starts playing immediately after load... [] Since the miniplayer works flawlessly on its own, but not embedded in a local page, I don't think it's caused by what Ad Hunter blocked. Because that got blocked too in the tab without side effects. I think it trips on my security settings and the fact Maxthon is enrolled in the SP2 Feature Control, and if that's true than it will never work for me... [] Since the url is another domain, and loaded in an iframe, I assume it affected by the IE setting "Navigate sub-frames accross different domains". If that is not enough, there's also "Web sites in less privileged web content zone can navigate into this zone" which I have disabled in both "Local Intranet" and "My Computer" zones. Maxthon being SP2'ed here, it too is affected by these settings. So I guess it's a result of security settings in either "Local Intranet" or "My Computer". The fact that it works flawlessly in a tab of its own seems to hint in the same direction...

Does this work better? I've moved the Pandora iframe to a local iframe (scripts & Flash control are still loaded from the pandora website), but I removed the ad script.

we must have passed each other in the editor [:smile:] probably should have made a new post... It isn't the ad part that caused it afterall. [:smile:] but your way of getting rid of it just happens to also fix the real problem, should have thought of it...practically said it already in my edit. indeed, local iframe is the fix.. thanks [:smile:]
