You have to install this Facebook Application to use this sidebar plugin.


Description
Maxthon Facebook Sidebar shows the latest Facebook updates in the Maxthon sidebar.
It displays the number of unread messages, pokes, friend requests, events and the recent statuses of your friends. You can also use it to share webpages on Facebook, using the "Share current page" feature.


About Facebook
Facebook is a social utility that connects you with the people around you. Use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people you meet.


Notes
Note that there is also a Facebook Toolbar button plugin available.

How to install this Maxthon Sidebar plugin

Maxthon 2.0 should install this plugin automatically

For Maxthon 1.x:
1. Unzip the downloaded file to Maxthon's Plugin folder. (for example in "C:\Program Files\Maxthon\Plugin")
2. Restart Maxthon - the new plugin will be detected and you'll be asked to activate it.
3. Open the sidebar if it isn't already open in "View >> Explorer Bar".
You can enable or disable every plugin in "Maxthon Options >> Plugin >> Maxthon Plugin".

I love the concept & it was working but for some reason now i get this error: "1: An unknown error occurred 1 An unknown error occurred api_key ee463ba6609a9562e48906cc290807d0 method facebook.auth.createToken v 1.0 sig 3852048b94375c95377c1338bbfae937" and of course the plugin doesnt load. This now happens with any version i install on any user account. Facebook says: An error may have occurred as part of the login process. You can close this window and try returning to the application, though it may ask you to login again. This is likely due to a bug in the application. I would assume its facebook tho as this plugin was working last night but is it facebook? any suggestions greatly & hugely appreciated [:smile:]

Hi, The plugin is still working fine for me. If this is still happening, maybe you should remove the plugin and reinstall it?

I've released a new beta version of this plugin. It is now also integrated into Facebook.
You do have to authenticate it again, since it is using another Facebook API key.

Please let me know what you think about this new release!

Getting this error in Maxthon when using this plugin:

I just noticed that there are two downloads in that firs post.  Version 3.0.o at the top and version 2.0.0 at the bottom.  I missed 3.0.0 and downloaded 2.0.0.  I'll give it a shot when I get back to work tomorrow, but I downloaded 3.0.0 here at home and it works fine.

Hmm. Did you get the "Failed to get session. Make sure that the page you have currently open is [..]" message, or just "Failed to get session"?

And did the Maxthon facebook application work as expected? So the page with the "friends using Maxthon" etc.?

Yes, good idea. Unfortunately I cannot find a Facebook API function that shows the requests and notifications and without this I can't implement it in the plugin.

Hi there, FYI. I keep getting this Failed to get session. Make sure that the page you have currently open is http://apps.facebook.com/maxthon/

after I try to get the session manually. Any idea why?

Hi,

It's related to the new Facebook layout. If you have enabled it Facebook will direct to http://apps.new.facebook.com/maxthon/index.php , so with the .new. subdomain added.

A workaround is to click on the "Back to the old Facebook" link in the upper right corner then load the http://apps.facebook.com/maxthon/ page again.
After that the sidebar plugin should work, and you can go back to the new facebook layout.
