Well Deushes, I am glad that you found happiness

might also want to add _which_ plugin introduced the error for you when doing the last bit, could save others some work...
(although agreeing with you that starting from scratch is always a good way to see if it might be settings/plugins related)
This is completely ridiculous. I'm lowered to writing my response on notepad so I can transfer it back to this forum as Maxthon is now crashing on me with the "Maxthon has blocked an error" message every 30 seconds to 10 minutes. This is the third time I start this response.

This problem just started in the last couple of days (since installing latest Windows XP updates?) with me but is there not some kind of a resolution for it yet? It looks like it's been going on for a long tme. I have scoured the boards only to find many pieces of advice as to how to fix it but not one of them verified or proven.
Do I really need to reinstall flash? Must I uninstall and reinstall Maxthon again? How many times do I have to do this? Uninstall, plugins, reinstall plugins. I mean, sheesh, what is going on here? This is nonsense and quite maddening, really. It's a problem that just started for me but I have made NO changes to Maxthon in a very long time. How can another reinstall help? This error was not preceded by any software application installations or updates other than the Windows update mentioned. Obviously, if Maxthon continues to behave like this I will be required to move to another browser. But I really, really don't want to. I understand that this is free software offered to the users with obivious great amount of work and effort being put into it; and it is all appreciated but it needs to work for me to use it, right? Up until now, Maxthon has always worked far better than any browser in history. Like many of you, I've been using Maxthon since before it was Maxthon. There have been some definite hiccups along the way but as a userbase, we've dealt with it. It just feels to me that this hiccup is the only one that has ever actually prevented me from using Maxthon and may be the one that forces me to move away from it.
On another but similar note, this is my first post in the new forum. Congratulations, it looks very nice. The transition went fairly smoothly but then I was unable to edit my profile. Again, a simple search on this found it to be a common issue and the most widely spread reason for this was that to prevent spam you need to have a minimum of 50 posts before you can change your profile details. What the hell is that all about? That doesn't make any sense at all. How is preventing me from adding an avatar or changing my timezone going to help prevent spam? The only thing it will prevent is me from feeling welcome, coming back or being a productive member of this community. By the way, I'm posting this here because every thread I found that discussed this issue was locked.
Spammers don't bother with editing thier personal details. Once in a blue moon they may add a spam-sig if it can be done in an automated fashion. Personalization is part of what makes me want to come back here and contribute. I've been a member of this forum for over 3 years...doesn't that count for something? I assure you I am not a spambot. Haven't had a lot to say but always knew what the time was and when I made a post you could tell it was me by my unique avatar. Forcing me to post a bunch of messages before I can change these things
back to what they already were is like begging me to spam (or at least post low quality "me too" type posts just to get my count up so I can eventually make these edits. Craziness I tell you. Clearly not well thought out.
I'm a moderator at a large forum and I do understand about the spammers and spambots but
preventing spam is not supposed to negatively effect the users; if it does the spammers win! Why don't you just force moderation for the first 3 or 5 posts of each new member? That way you can be sure that the member is real. There are so many other methods and if you care to discuss them feel free to PM or email me.
So, sorry about the rambling but would certainly appreciate a response.
Seth (fed up of his Maxthon always crashing!)
