Install as a normal plugin, then set your homepage to the Maxthon/Plugin/MaxthonStartPage/start.htm file

Description

This is an AJAX-powered startpage, with support for RSS/ATOM feeds and Weather forecasts.
You can view your most favorite links (in Maxthon 1.x) and do a search right from the startpage.
With the MaxthonStartPage plugin you can fully customize the startpage.
Drag & Drop all elements around + configure all settings in a setup window.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The Floating Ad Blocker or the "Disable Page Annoyances" plugin can brake the Drag & Drop feature!

Other notes

If you do not set the "plugin/MaxthonStartPage/start.htm" file as homepage and click the Maxthon Start Page toolbar button
the Maxthon Start Page will not open.

You can add the start.htm filt to your favorites as well. It works like a normal webpage.

To change the startpage settings you need to press the toolbar button when you're currently viewing the Maxthon Start Page.
A "Show configuration" link should be visible then.



How to install


For Maxthon 2.0:

1.  Plugin should install automatically if you choose the right download link.

2.  Set you homepage to "C:\Program Files\Maxthon2\<<emailAddress>>\Plugin\MaxthonStartPage\Start.htm"
        (depending on the installation folder of Maxthon).
    You can change this in Tools >> Maxthon Options >> Startup




For Maxthon 1.x:

1. Unzip the downloaded file to Maxthon's Plugin folder. (for example in "C:\Program Files\Maxthon\Plugin")

2. Restart Maxthon - the new plugin will be detected and you'll be asked to activate it.

3. Set you homepage to "C:\Program Files\Maxthon\Plugin\MaxthonStartPage\Start.htm" (depending on the installation folder of Maxthon).
   You can change this in Options >> Maxthon Options >> Start Page

You can find the plugin on the Plugins bar (you can enable it in "View >> Toolbars >> Plugins Bar")

You can enable or disable every plugin in "Maxthon Options >> Plugin >> Maxthon Plugin".

I've modified the Maxthon Start Page a bit, these are the changes: - Default search is now google - Image search is now google image search - Added Tarapages.com search and Maxthon Forum search - Added Google News search - Removed the other 2 searches - Small layout changes - you can also use %us, not only %s for the keyword - added important Maxthon links - Changed "Recent Visited Favorites Items:" into "Recently Visited Favorites:". This sounds better IMO. - NEW: You can add RSS feeds to the page, so you can see the latest headlines. Extract in the Maxthon\Language\English directory (you can replace "English" with your current Maxthon language). If the homepage is set to 'default', that is "$lan_folder\start.htm" then you should see this new page. [:smile:] You can modify the RSS feeds just like the Search engines, after line 150. The RSS version might not work with Win XP SP2 security features enabled. Download the new Start Page without the RSS feed support here: start.tem_mod_011005.zip (1.78 KB)

Here is the default start.tem with unicode support for search strings. just use %us in the strings to use unicode (like in "Maxthon Options > Search"): start_tem_with_us.zip (2.06 KB)

great job with this neo. i was just wondering if you could make it so that the cursor starts in the search box, like google.com. right now my cursor starts in my address bar instead. maybe i&#39;m the only one getting this behavior? anyway, would that be possible?

Perhaps because it was there before you pressed the 'Home' button? (assuming thats how you call-up the page). If I first click the blank page and then hit the Home button, the cursor ends up in the search field for me...

hello, I can't get the Recently Visited Favorites to be filled with anything and when I look at the code I don't understand how it is supposed to be filled. Any idea? [:smile:] edit : I think I have the answer : it only displays favorites launched from the Favorites toolbar or the Favorites menu, and not those launched from the favorites sidebar []

Strangly I get an empty response from the server, so without the RSS feed.

@BuggyBoy: you are right, only the favorites from the toolbar are displayed. Hopefully Bloodchen can change this.

Great work neo101 [] ,thanx i modified the rss feeds in the start page with 3 of my favorits, they work fine but i noticed the max number of feeds in each one is 10 feeds ,although they are more in the normal rss reader , so can you help me change that? [] thank you very much
