Thanks to Tara who originally wrote this topic. Because it was posted as announcement, it did not survive the transition so this repost is what was salvaged from web.archive.org. It also is slightly changed and updated to reflect there is now two different Maxthon browsers

Hi,

Please do note there are TWO Maxthon browsers, Maxthon Classic and Maxthon2. Each have their own Main forum and most other forums use Topic Tags to differentiate between posts relating to each. These can be filtered on using the tabs above topic listings.

To keep the forum tidy and make it easy to use for everyone, please follow these rules:

1. General
Search the forums and if you find a thread about the issue you want to discuss, use that thread instead of starting a new one. Also read the pinned topics (do not overlook the Filter Tabs above topic listings) before starting any new ones to double check that the issue has not been covered before, because duplicated topics will be locked (and later deleted). Here are a couple of links you might want to start with:

2. Plugins
Some plugins (especially when set to Auto Start) can affect the functionality of the browser, so before making a post, make sure that the problem is not caused by one of your plugins.
Turn off the Auto Start feature through
(for Maxthon Classic) Options >> Maxthon Options >> Plugins (select the plugin name and uncheck the 'Start the plugin after the page is fully loaded' option).
(for Maxthon2) Tools >> Maxthon Setup Center >> Plugins or Tools >> Manage Plugins...
(untick the arrow point in front of the name, you may get a reminder if the plugin is not specifically designed to auto start)

3. System Info
Remember to include your system configuration while asking for help or reporting a bug.
For Maxthon Classic, copy the entire text from the Help >> Report to Author dialog box (sending an email is not required), and paste this in a post
For Maxthon2, copy the information from the box in Help >> About

4. Images
If you need to post a screenshot, then please keep the file size in mind - large file sizes can slow down loading of pages a lot, keep the filesize below 50KB and keep the image width preferably below 800px. Or use http://imageshack.us or any other similar image hosting site and post a thumbnail link or simply a link to the screenshot.

5. Non-English
When posting in the English Zone, please remember to use English. If English is not your native language and you wish to post in your own language, use the Other Languages > Help & Support forum or an appropriate language forum. Any issues related to translations or specific language files (including the so called "English for translation") can be discussed in the Translations forum.

Forum/site issues should be posted in Maxthon Forum & Website Discussions. Please check the following topic first: [New Forum] Report Bugs.
For problems with software other than Maxthon, use the Other Software Tips & System Tweaks board.

6. Reporting
Any objectionable content can and should be reported to the forum admins/mods using the "Report Post" button (exclamation icon).

If you need to contact the forum staff for any other reason, please feel free to email them or use the Private Messenger - but avoid sending messages with bug reports, support requests, etc. Such issues should rather be dealt with in the public forum, to be helpful to other users as well.
