Mute Browser

Mute Browser is one of the most requested features lately. It is obvious how muting only the browser can be useful from time to time. To use this feature, right click the status bar, select Add or Remove Buttons, and select Mute to show the button. To mute browser sound just click the Mute button. Click the button again to restore browser sound.




New Passport Login Mechanism

Using Maxthon Passport can enhance privacy and security. But from time to time you may need to view just a webpage or two. Login to the Maxthon Passport may not be the most convenient option.

With numerous feedbacks from the users, Maxthon 2.5.7 uses a different login mechanism. Maxthon starts with share account and a floating login dialog. Users can login as in previous versions or just view some web pages without login.

Here please be reminded that without login to your passport account, any changes in settings or addition of favorites are not saved to your account but the shared account. Also please right click the menu bar, select Add or Remove Buttons, and click reset to replace the old "Switch User Account" command with the new "Account" command.






URL Security

As the gateway to the internet, browsers serve the first line of defense to malicious sites. To improve security of users, Maxthon gathers with支付宝, the biggest and most reputable online payment platform provider in China to provide additional URL security to users.

When a malicious site is visited, the web page will be blocked and replaced by a warning page. The address bar will also be highlighted to alert the user.

Notes

1. For users of non-default skin, please switch to the default skin and switch back to your current skin to show the Mute Browser icon.

2 The new login mechanism has some known issues which will be fixed as soon as possible:
   - login is not stable and may not be able to login through proxy/lan
   - the delete button in dropdown menu of login panel not correctly positioned
   - clear browser history progress and restart dialog appear at the same time
   - visiting pages are not shown after login

how did you make the address on the address bar look like on IE8 , meaning grey and black ... ? also, i tried to go to the example website, and i couldn't see the same result that you see - it says that the website is not there.
about the websites filtering,are there any options for the websites filtering? can it use the IE8 filtering instead ? i ask this because there are much more english websites than chinese websites that i visit.

btw, i think a new button appeared on the left side of the standard toolbar - it is of the user switching.

Why is the "Add to Favorites" button in Chinese?  Been that way for the last few releases.

? where did you get that one from? perhaps a plugin? customized menu item?
Did you perhaps switch skins in the recent past which changed menu's to Chinese? Perhaps the tooltip text didn't get refreshed?

btw. my addressbar also doesn't grey the http:// bit and the trailing slash (IE6)

speaking of coloring...I thought IE6 wasn't supposed to be able to show the new Google layout in all it's glory with colored labels and progressbars when it is loading? Since I downgraded from IE8 and re-installed SP3 my IE6 is in some ways behaving as if IE7/8...

sadly PNG transparency got broken again, not even DXFilters work anymore...

It's been that way since I did a fresh install of 2.5.6beta5 and I just installed 2.5.7.1048 on top of that.  I have two skins that have a default layout (yours and Script Crazy Orange), but I always click NO.  It's no big deal because I never use that button to add to Favorites anyway.  Regardless, it should be in English if that's the default language.

yes, you are right - i wrote 'p' instead of 'q' there. however, the color of the address is still the same.

Just found the 1048 update and have some odd problems with youtube videos and the videopopup...

some of these videos is just sound with a still image...and the player don't seem to stomach that. sometimes don't show, but somehow something is playing coz the music continues when navigating to another page. or when switching to gridview...

When pop-up is activated, Ctrl+F1 doesn't work to capture an area of the screen.

Now this may be part of the problem, but for some reason the video button don't show automatically, I have to force it...if I then accidentally click inside the the video, the Video floatbar starts behaving weird.

Browser settings, Magic Fill data, proxy list and Web Content Filters is what is possible to store online

Custom version. But download from maxthon main site can avoid any custom content added
