Is Maxthon taking any action, as are Firefox and others, to deal

with this problem involving PC chip flaws?

It´s an OS problem, not a browser problem.  Just make sure your computer and security is updated.

Yes thanks -- well, the reality is, as numerous articles are explaining,

that browsers are putting out updated versions as part of efforts to

counter this....see https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/04/technology/meltdown-spectre-questions.html?partner=IFTTT&_r=0

One can't imagine that hundreds of millions of PCs and Macs and others

will or can be replaced without huge costs to consumers and companies.

Also -- while articles have spoken of updates by OS's -- I have yet to see

the update they discuss from Microsoft.

Interesting that update has not been seen here, at least on auto update..

Updates sometimes take longer to populate to various zones. And they don't generally release them worldwide at once. And there's a number of other factors in this case that can stop the update from showing up, most notably AV programs that cause a crash if the fix is installed.

Give it a day or so and it'll come through.

Donna said no, not this week.

1/ that was about a new Insider release, nothing at all related to the CPU kernel issue,
2/ insider releases have apparently had the fix since about late november.

This is NOT a Windows Insider build.

Oh, 16299, insider builds are at 17063.  This does not explain why my install history is not showing up except from the recovery options, maybe something M$ is looking into.
