It's based on the new Blink core, a derivative of webkit.

But why the wrote "Updated browser core of Chrome 39"?
Chrome is not browser core, Chrome is browser shell. Last stable Chrome now is 47.
Blink is just new name of WebKit. What about last version of WebKit? Chrome 47 uses Blink 537.36. What about Maxthon 4.9?

Perfect. So we will get chrome extensions support in future? :)

Chrome is Blink based too https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blink_(web_engine)

For sure not in MX4- maybe in next 5th version

Maxthon 4 doesn't support Chrome extension, it has own extension system.

That was said many, many times before- for example here http://old-forum.maxthon.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=8505&page=2#pid45839

This is not because of core.
Safari and Chrome work on the same core. Can you use chrome extension on Safari?

Safari works with WebKit/JavaScriptCore while Chromium works with Blink/V8. They are completely separate engines.

About Maxthon 4.9, it is still based on Blink (from Maxthon 4.2.x onwards) except the devs are making use of the Chromium Embedded Framework. They're doing that to make core updates easier to integrate with the browser.

537.36 is the WebKit version Blink was forked from, it remains in the user agent for compatibility purposes. Maxthon technically uses Blink 39, Chrome 47 uses Blink 47.
