  1. Closing Explorer closes Maxthon

In Windows10 there's a Restart option on the context menu. Use that instead. Programs shouldn't close when doing a explorer restart. But it could be there's a hook into explorer for some reason and closing it causes some instability which forces the program to close. Not sure, just a theory.
  2. The changelog details should have been explained better, not that it would help those that auto-update and never see any changelog details. But more importantly it should never have been enabled by default. If a user wanted to use that feature, then they should be the one to enable it.
  3. Maxthon vs. Fullscreen apps

    Not sure what the video will show, but anyways... 7sec Kodi.exe is started using a keyboard combination Video is selected and starts to play on 2nd screen (not shown) 21sec Maxthon.exe restores from being minimised to a window and steals focus NOTHING is pressed or done between 7sec > 21sec If Maxthon.exe isn't running Kodi.exe keeps focus as it should. From the focus detection program shown in the video: 41608:C:\Users\me\Desktop\focus\focus.exe | Mon Dec 17 22:30:14 2018 << FOCUS.exe started 6412:C:\Windows\explorer.exe | Mon Dec 17 22:30:16 2018 54016:C:\Program Files (x86)\Kodi\kodi.exe | Mon Dec 17 22:30:32 2018 << KODI.exe started No foreground application | Mon Dec 17 22:30:46 2018 1920:C:\Maxthon5\Bin\Maxthon.exe | Mon Dec 17 22:30:47 2018 << MAXTHON.exe steals focus!!! 18592:C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\WebLaunchRecorder\Screen Recorder Launcher.exe | Mon Dec 17 22:31:09 2018 1920:C:\Maxthon5\Bin\Maxthon.exe | Mon Dec 17 22:31:12 2018 18592:C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\WebLaunchRecorder\Screen Recorder Launcher.exe | Mon Dec 17 22:31:12 2018 41608:C:\Users\me\Desktop\focus\focus.exe | Mon Dec 17 22:31:48 2018 Recording #1.mp4
  4. Maxthon vs. Fullscreen apps

been having this issue as well of late. Very annoying!
  5. MX corrupts downloads

Then as i said, it's going to make things trickier, as it seems there's no issue on my end. Has anyone with this issue tried on a clean portable version to test?
  6. MX corrupts downloads

So you're saying you've tested on Office online as well? Or just with Office365? If that is the case then it makes things even more complicated as it's not a issue common across all users.
  7. MX corrupts downloads

There is no solution > because they haven't found the cause > because they can't reproduce the issue. Tested using Excel & Word Online no issues. Files save as correct document files. Not sure how different Office365 is, but i can't imagine that it's completely different code to save the files. If you can test using those, and you still have the problem, it may at least give the dev's something to work with instead of the sites noted that they don't have subscriptions or access to. I'd be extremely surprised if they don't have a Microsoft account setup for testing, or at least one employee that has one.
  8. Passkeeper

it's not a webform. Passkeeper won't detect or save that data. Pretty sure the same would go for other browsers. Definitely no option to save in Vivaldi (and probably any other chrome clone). Use the new website login page and it will work. https://www.brisnet.com/product/login
  9. Was brought to my attention that there's no user verification when accessing Passkeeper using a Guest account. Assuming you have access to an unlocked device and can open Maxthon, someone may potentially have full access to all of a users passwords. As far as i'm aware it's been like this since MX3, possibly earlier, but after digging around it seems other browsers do have security checks for guest accounts. Other browsers (in order of best to worst implementation):Chrome & Opera (and probably all Chrome clones?) ask for the users windows password to verify before showing.Edge manages through the Control Panel>Manage web credentials, requiring the users windows password before showing.Vivaldi doesn't show passwords at all, so you can't really manage them. (best in regards to security, useless for management)Firefox hides them by default, with an option to show with no verification - unless a master password has been setup. MX hides them by default, with an option to show with no verification. Will be nice to hear a response as to why MX has opted for none, and if it might be an option to add at some stage. In the case of the Chrome/edge options, it's a system level verification, in that if you know the password to access the system you'll still get access to the passwords. Given the way it works having an extra verification offers no extra security over locking the user account when not in use. Regardless it's still more secure than having nothing.
  10. Yep, just checked. Have updated the OP.
  11. MX corrupts downloads

1 / I'm pretty sure it did have this bug at some stage a while back. 2 / does it affect all files downloaded or just some? Have you checked with another browser to see if it's the site/file not the MX downloader? I tested with a site that i use and had no issues. A link to the offending file would be handy if possible. 3 / i'm pretty sure the only changes to the Download Manager were aesthetic, nothing behind the scenes affecting how files are downloaded, but could be wrong. Agree with this. I don't think the new UI is much of an improvement over the old. Although it does add some nice things, like the options button, clear history. But icons moving around (play should replace pause and vice versa), colours out of place (search/show tasks boxes), truncated download path unless you're using a huge window, all seem a little off. Hopefully just a WIP. Time will tell.
  12. So don't bother with any sort of security? If you can't access my computer then you can't get anything, which is what was stated in the last paragraph. What the extra verification does is stop anyone that shouldn't have access to that system accessing MX passwords. If they don't know the password for the user account, they won't know the password for the extra verification.
  13. I've been forever complaining about some of the UI issues in MX. While things have improved since MX4, there are still some things out of place, or just plain not updated because of whatever reason. So in the same spirit of the Typo's, grammar issues etc... lets make a list! thread... here we go with MX UI issues...lets make a list!! Although somehow I don't think it will get the same response as the other thread... of which also has been somewhat slow to fix issues of late... So off we go... Lock button has text lower than the Security button A message about Chrome?? Not sure how this came up, nor have I seen it more than twice, but still i'll add it in Reader mode: The search bars are different in Maxnote and Passkeeper. In Maxnote - Colours are lighter, smaller text, different magnifying glass icon Choose one style and make them the same. Different heading style compared to downloader/ABP/clear browsing data/sniffer dialogs etc. FIXED - In QA setttings, "background" is cut off even though there is plenty of room for the (?) to be moved to the right: More to come... Once they've been looked at it would be nice if the UI could get a slight make over. Currently it's very static, buttons are either on/off, there's no movement. Add some animation (eg. fade in/out) when moving over tabs/buttons. Opening/closing tabs is very, very jerky compared to almost every other browser. The latest Firefox looks amazing, animation on hovering over the tabs, a colour flourish when a tab is loaded, animated refresh button, fades on menus. Even just the fade on the text in the tab bar when the titles are too long - it looks better than the ellipsis (...) that Maxthon uses. All very small things, but they complete the experience and makes the whole browser look very polished and complete. The new Maxnote style is nice. The animated drop shadows when hovering over items is a nice touch. Hopefully that starts making it's way into the rest of the browser over time.
  14. After it was pointed out in another thread that Maxthon no longer has the option to Block third party cookies I thought i'd ask the question, why? I don't think there's another browser out there that doesn't have that option. And MX4 had it available. What's the story?
  15. buttons need to be moved right to allow for revised strings. Should also help with other languages.
  16. print issue

what happens when you click "change" or "print using system dialog"?
  17. So, updates? As mentioned above, it's a feature that EVERY other browser has, and one of the simplest means of protecting a users privacy.
  18. known since September!!! http://forum.maxthon.com/index.php?/topic/22756-mx-ui-issues-lets-make-a-list/&do=findComment&comment=125855
  19. print issue

using passport or guest account? if using passport, test with guest and see if it still happens.
  20. Not for third party cookies only. Disabling the current setting means all cookies are disabled on all sites. This means options like stay logged in, site modifications (colour schemes or layout), location details etc. are lost when closing the page.
  21. I believe the idea is to ensure the startup icon hasn't been hijacked by malware/virus leading you to a fake site, or a fake program on startup. Not sure how common a occurrence that is, but they felt the need to protect against it. Why people are having it show, what seems to be quite consistently, is something that might need to be looked at. Could be that any change to the shortcut is flagging the warning, when it should only happen if the target startup file is changed. At least that's my understanding of it.
  22. Neither string highlighted below are in the crowdin translation list. The patterns of favorites display should be Display favorites as... Only display the icon should be Display icon only Due to the way the menu is shown, i'd change the options to Title only, Icon only, Icon and title. No need to repeat display as it doesn't add anything to it.
  23. In Passkeeper security info: Make the question tabbed in line with the answer Use the correct apostrophe so there's no weird spaces in words. There's more than just those marked below. Just had another look: Last line first question should be "to ensure your password information is secure". 2nd question should be "won't be affected by changing devices" 3rd "please change to a more complicated password..." Sigh...And there's probably more...
  24. Looking for the Author of RoboForm Lite

Yes Nothing, it's just another option for those that don't want to use the built-in Maxthon version.
  25. Another one... still no fixes for many of the above...
